This is definitely my favorite project in recent memory and despite loving bikes my whole life, until a month ago I’ve bever broken one down to all the components.
This was a stock 2020 Specialized Sequoia gravel bike.
I’ve had moutain or bmx bikes my whole life but this steel beast if my first drop bar bike and I loved it immediately, did a two night 170 mile solo trip during covid and was just great.
This spring I was having the new bike itch but I dont need a third so settled on a simple refresh ofnthis bike but it turnwd into quite an overhaul.
I had the steels Frame, fork and back rack all powdercoated. Bottom bracket, cranks, derailleur, thumb shift, cassette, tires, gold chain, hydraulic brakes and a yellow bar end mirror are all new. Last thing to install is the green handle bar wrap from Brooks and then its done done. I went to a 12×1 “mullet” drivetrain, from cable to hydraulic disc brakes and from 42mm to 47mm tires. It always rode smooth but its even better now, I’d ride this rig anywhere. I think my favorite bit is Microshift making an excellent and precision made SRAM 12x indexed cable thumb shifter, I am running a mountain bike cassette and derailleur woth an old school thumb shift, and it dialed in and works great!
Just posting my bike joy, have a great day and a great ride everyone.
