  1. You actually don't need to spend a ton to get rock solid, not spongy, full mechanical disc brakes. The Avid BB7 is fully mechanical, stupid easy to adjust, and like $160 for a pair. The only downside is that they're only available in post-mount. Would highly recommend, and there is no easier caliper to adjust. You move the pads with two thumbwheels with clicks.

  2. Those inflatable straps won't protect collarbones… Collarbones break because people put their hands down to break falls. The collarbone is designed to break to protect the neck.

I agree with Jimmi but I would go further.

I think team and mechanic cars, even the camera bikes are dumb on the race line. They interfere with the race. A checkpoint system where they can refuel and repair would be much better (like on XC and Gravel races). This way the bikes' reliability would play a bigger role, which would also greatly benefit the consumer cyclists (more reliable parts/bikes). Racers can take the risk with faster, less reliable bikes or go for the safer but slower bikes. You broke your bike you out (if you can't repair it yourself or are not near a checkpoint). This would also level the playing field in not-top events between top players with multiple replacement bikes on hand and individual racers and smaller teams.

  4. We sure don't have gyms in the US that are £10 a month. You're lucky if you can find one for $30. $50 seems to be baseline at this point in most cases. I'm checking out one that's a bit under $400 a year if you prepay. There's really no other option I have that's close.

  5. When you mentioned MVDP being one of the boys you need to watch him on Average Rob’s channel he’s great!

Also would love to see more content with Emily on the channel as we need more female cycling representation! 🩷

  6. The Rapha backlash reinforces a frustration I have with a lot of cycling and outdoor kit. I simply don't enjoy being a walking billboard. Many otherwise nice pieces of kit make me cringe and move on rather than buy them due to oversized and overly conspicuous logos. I'm fine with something simple like a small logo or emblem that is mostly out of the way if you want to remind me where to re-order from, but anything more is a major negative towards me buying it.

  7. I really enjoy the podcast but I think you guys are really underestimating high-end mechanical disc brakes. I have the Growtac Equal brakes on my gravel bike and I have to say that they are as powerful as the hydraulic disc brakes on my road bike and I prefer the lever feel of the mechanical brakes because you can adjust the bite point really well. The only downside is that they don't compensate for pad wear and from time to time you fave to adjust the pads but this is really easy to do and takes about a minute for both brakes.

  8. I protect my bike frame with electrical tape (under the tube bag)… It does the trick and doesn't seem to leave any damage when I take it off.

  9. Re safe cycling in traffic. Look way ahead to anticipate issues and when you need to move into the lane, start moving early from well back so that the shift is very gradual

  10. For the bloke who needs a tad bit more storage, you can get a sheet of clear protective coating cut to fit and place where straps contact frame. Clear protection will easily remove without leaving any residue.

  11. Inflation bibs should advertise its safety benefits if you crash on a rainy day you won’t drown in the puddle. If it turns into a flash flood you will be the only one with personal life boat.

  12. The most useful skill I learned that has saved my life so many times: learning how to lean into another moving object while you are in forward motion in same direction and then how to stay up upon separation. This will teach you how to protect your handlebars and your front wheel. It will also teach you to look where you want to go, your bike will go where your eyes focus on.

  13. malaysian drivers a lot more aggressive than Thais though.. and dogs gere don't chase you if you open the conversation. alpha, maybe!

  14. I actually think the typeface (soz guys – a font means a family of typefaces, a typeface is a single style) is ok, if this had been branded a core line product I think the bold typelogo across the front works. The trouble is Rapha doesn't seem to have enough jerseys with more brash, graphics / patterns to contrast this, so marketing this as a special release seems boring. If they did have busier / crazier jerseys this would feel like a nice piece of calm amongst that noise.

  15. That 20mph thing can't be real. Speed limit only applies to motorvehicles. Would be pretty embarrassing for the TT riders to get dropped by ME on my alloy Defy.

  16. So for the fluid filled calliper, would you need to have cable discs already or could you use rimbrake mechanical hoods or are the cables different?

  17. You must be living under a rock if you dont know about lengthy list of allegations re: Quintana being an absolute juice merchant very much aside from his tramadol violation

  18. " Tom Simpson, why does that name ring a bell?"
    OM f'ing G 😲
"That guy who died on a climb"
    AAARRGGHHHHH😢
Sorry, but you lost me right there.

  19. They do know how collar bones break right? It's not that you land on your collar bone but the shock load when you land on an out stretched hand ends at the collar bone causing the break. That said I guess the shorts would perhaps protect other injuries.
