I’m in France right now, and obsessed with the idea of bikepacking on a budget. I imagine most of money would go to food unless something went wrong with it. I loved traveling on my own, hitchhiking on my own. I know I shouldn’t be able to get that many rides with my bike or possibly any, but I love long distance rides and I love camping. This is one I’ve found at a local thrift store, of shock there aren’t too many in France apparently. It’s 7 speed, and that’s about all I know about this damn bike. I can’t find the tag or model number on it anywhere. Would this be alright for bikepacking? What’s the cheapest or shittiest bike you’ve had and for what mileage? I wouldn’t mind continuing what I’m doing now (doing work aways and hitching, (and maybe vagabonding later) but god I’d love to be free. I want to be free. I’ve worked on cars before as a backyard gear monkey and domes my brake adjustments on my bike back home so I don’t think it’d be *too* difficult. And i know so many say it’s the best way to really see a country. And god i know how much exercise makes food worth it. I want to do this, but not if I know this bike about to go to shit. I’ve got another that apparently cost 350 or so (quoted as a cheap bike lol) but it needs a new front wheel. Brands halcyon. Apparently it’s pretty comfortable when it’s working.
