Swimming in Weston is good for the soul. And your social life. And for entertaining/wearing out the kids!

As well as the beautiful bay, where Weston’s tight-knit swimming community come most days to take a dip in the sea (half an hour before high tide is when it’s safest), the town has its own marine lake – a giant infinity pool with a sandy beach which is safe to take a plunge in at any time of day.

So whether open-water swimming has become a daily ritual, you’re looking for somewhere to splash about with littles ones, or want to see what this cold water swimming malarkey is all about – Weston’s waters cater for all of the above!

If you’re thinking of sea swimming check out @thesupermares who organise everything from social swims to full-moon dips. They can share safety tips (e.g avoid sea swimming when the tide is on its way out because of strong currents – and ALWAYS swim with somebody else). You can also listen to two experts from Weston Mudlarks and the Supermares! chatting about swimming on episode 9 of our podcast:

  1. I love this video as so many people slate Weston and it’s always been one of my favourite places. Unfortunately I am not a all year round swimmer so as much as I miss it, i will have to wait until spring.
