Welcome to this second teaser of our special video in celebration of the World Water Day 2024 entitled by UN Water “Leveraging Water for Peace” here. Join us as we explore the significance of groundwater to human health and peace. Our names are Ruth and Madeleine, and we are here to moderate you through some ideas of AquaDiva doctoral researchers, including us, on why groundwater resources are so important, how they are threatened and how they can be protected! We are part of AquaDiva, a Collaborative Research Centre funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, German Research Foundation) and whose research focuses on understanding the links between surface and subsurface biogeosphere called Earth Critical Zone. The Critical Zone is Earth’s thin outer layer where rock, soil, water, air, and life interact. Extending from the tops of the trees to groundwater, it influences landscapes, water cycles, and ecosystems. Everyone will speak in their mother tongue and English or German subtitles will be available depending on the sharing platform. The Idea behind this is to celebrate AquaDiva’s international working environment.
