Anticlimactic story of how I spent half a day figuring out that the rear derailleur cable was routed incorrectly, meaning the gears would skip on 5+ regardless of everything I tried. Being an older hanger I had thought it could have been bent, or wasn’t compatible with shimanos (newer) Direct Mount, or wheel was off etc. etc…its my first time installing so lesson learnt. Hope this is useful for someone doing a conversion.
