The sound has become the bane of my existence and I cannot bear any longer. Anytime I rotate The Handlebar there’s this really obnoxious squeaking sound. First I thought maybe the headset needed to be greased but upon taking it to my LBS, they said that weirdly enough it was the brake cable inside the frame and that when it was built there was a sheath put around the cable to keep it from making noise and that’s what’s actually making noise.
What’s even weirder is that I tried oiling it and it didn’t do anything. But evidently when any amount of water comes in through the hole in the frame that the cable is in the squeak goes away until the water dries up. I have no idea why it is doing this but it is become beyond irritating. What do I do to fix this? I can’t live with the sound.
