I am looking for my first bike purchase as an adult. I have a budget of around $500, which I realize is not a lot within the bike world. That said, the bike would primarily be used for the road, gravel, and light trail/off road duties. I would love for the ability to upgrade the bike in the future. I have narrowed it down to he following, and would love some insight!
Poseidon Flatbar Ambition X – $550 with online rebate.
I like this but would likely have to put this together myself unless I can find it at a shop with the $100 off rebate. Unlikely. I think this gives me the most on/off roadability.
Marin Kentfield 1 – $499

I like the style and look of this bike, but am a bit worried about it’s ability to handle gravel/light trail use. The shop down the block from me does have this in stock. Maybe I don’t know enough about bikes, but is this as versatile as the Poseidon?
Cannondale Trail 7.1 – on sale for about $550
I feel like this is a lot of bang for the buck. Is it too rugged/off road for my lighter use, or is it okay to have the off-road capabilities?

Any insight or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. I am leaning toward the Marin and really like the price and looks, but don’t want to pull the trigger if it is useless for riding on gravel/light trails.
