Hi! I am looking to purchase a “go most places/do most things” bike and have been looking at a few models of gravel bikes in particular. I’m new to the world of cycling and ideally looking for a bike I can use both for trails and for daily commute. I live in the Bay Area around Palo Alto, so some hills are a factor but I don’t think it’s anything too crazy as far as I know. My upper limit budget is $3k.
My LBS has a few Trek Checkpoints available and Costco is selling the Intense 951. I’m trying to decide between these 3 options:
– Intense 951 951 Series Gravel 1X
– Trek Checkpoint ALR 5
– Trek Checkpoint ALR 5 Driftless
– Trek Checkpoint ALR 5 AXS
They are all generally around the same price range. What would you recommend? What has the best components for the price and would be the most future proof?
