Welcome to The Innovation Summit Paris 2024 please welcome to the stage Schneider Electric chief executive officer Peter [Applause] herck Innovations for impact ladies and gentlemen Innovations it means doing something that has never been done before for impact you’ve seen what impact is required Innovations in itself won’t help us we need to collaborate in this complex World in a world that has become even even more complex in the last
Couple of years and a lot of Trends a lot of Mega Trends are driving this today at The Innovation Summit 2024 by schnide Electric in Paris thank you very much for joining us and welcome by combining Automation electrification and digitization we believe that we can create Innovations for
Impact but let me talk about the mega trends that we believe will happen with or without us but they will form the ideas that we need to drive forward to create impact in this world so the first Trend that impacts us all is the continuously shifting Global equilibrium for long time we were
Thinking that globalization would Define the world now in the last three four years with covid with a lot of political sensitivities that are happening trade barriers that have come up protectionism and also supply chain crisises that affect ected you that affected us we didn’t know what was coming so the economies
Decoupled reshoring was necessary today in response to these challenges you can see that 81% of significant companies in the world are embracing the approach of the power of two bringing in a second Source into their environment this means means optimization of processes for efficiency and cost savings that we have done in
The past need to be rethought to create and minimize the impact that we’re generating by this so the future will look a little bit different we will see shorter Supply chains we will see less traffic in between the different geographies in the world and this will
Help us to drive and live in the new equilibrium that we’re there to navigate this landscape it is decisive that companies need to build resilience in by adopting Technologies fostering strong partnership that’s the collaboration I’ve been talking about and implementing sustainable practices to drive forward now the shift of the global equilibrium
Has also started uh the reshaping the world as we would say and um we see an evolution of wealth in geographies that we may not have been thinking about before the energy needs of the future will be largely driven by geographies like India the Middle East Africa these geographies are
Experiencing rapid growth rapid growth in population so until 2050 we will bring alone 1.3 billion more people into India and Africa there will also be many more people that will move to cities so overall urbanization is growing so we expect 2.1 billion people moving into cities in the next 25 years
Years these people need homes offices public spaces to accommodate what they need to do factories so this of course equates to a huge space that needs to be built 100 billion square meters of homes offices and factories that need to be built now this is the
Quantity of what we have built in China and Europe combined that is in front of us so while the evolution of wealth represents of course an exciting opportunity it also compels um it also compels that we need to worry about climate change all of these buildings
And all of this construction and all of the energy usage that is there needs to be done in a sustainable way now 8 and a half nine years ago unfortunately also in Paris at the cop 21 we agreed that we wouldn’t have global temperatures rise more than 1.5° above the average of pre-industrial
Development in January this year for the first time in history for consecutive 12 months we’ve surpassed 1.5° in fact 2023 was the hottest year ever recorded in history that’s why I’m calling out today everybody here to help because we we have 3.6 billion people half the world population that is severely
Impacted by climate change typhoons Cyclones drafts heavy rains heavy snowfalls all of which is created by CO2 emissions that are largely largely to 80% related to the energy chain the the good news is there are already 2,800 companies that follow the science based initiative with Net Zero commitments and these are large
Companies to a big extent that’s great news and we need to continue we need to drive this forward because climate change is there now there’re also at cop 28 and that’s encouraging 120 two Nations that have said they will double Energy Efficiency until 2030 doubling Energy Efficiency is
Important because it will drive down the usage of energy we at Schneider we’ve started our commitment a long time ago with commitments for 2030 and 20150 how can we drive this forward the future must be sustainable with decisive action to tackle the climate change together so addressing climate change requires fundamental transformation fundamental
Transformation to do that digitization and the AI technologies that are there will be extremely helpful so we need innovative solutions to optimize processes to improve efficiency to drive D sustainability this transformation brings of course and is supported by the mega trend of digitization and Ai and our environmental impact and a sustainable
Future will need to be based on data and how we’re driving it forward now because you can’t enter any discussions these days without AI it’s in everybody’s living room I talk about AI as well a couple of data points why this is so important we all many of us not all we I
See some a lot of young faces when the worldwide web was introduced it took seven years to bring in 100 million users with the evolution of large language models in AI 100 million users in just two months this technology is bigger than the worldwide web it will also be bigger because we
Have a lot of automatically generated data six times more iot devices in 10 years plus the ability to read all information that’s out there uh in any form digitized now however this transformation of course requires us to do it in a sustainable way you’ve probably read that many of the D data
Centers will need much more efficient Cooling and of course renewable energy resources to do and we see that these data centers will for the next 5 years consume 1.6 times the energy that is used already today so it’s massive and we need to build a future with a I in a sustainable
Way and do it in an automatic way and in an energy efficient way like we’re trying to do it in buildings in optimized factories in better transportation and uh so forth so we’ve explored the transformative potential of AI and digitization now these technologies will be very very helpful also in the next
Mega Trend I’d like to talk about which is the energy transition or I shall say energy transitions because it is different from country to country from geography to geography and we’ve explored the potential so while addressing climate change it’s Paramount as I said ear it’s Paramount the to that
The challenges that we tackle are in the emissions again 80% of the emissions are related to energy population increase until 2050 earlier I talked only about India and Africa but in total two billion more people 1 billion people today don’t have access or not reliable access to
Energy and access to energy is the passport for a decent life access to energy gives you access to digital so we need to bring three billion more people into energy and it is an oxymoron that we need to resolve we need to use less but we will be consuming more so
How do we address it the good news is the good news is that we fortunately have existing Technologies today that can take out 70% of the CO2 emissions out of the energy chain now for years the conversations in the energy transition have always focused on the energy generation side on the energy generation
Side whatever we build new we need to build as sustainable as possible as renewable as possible as Net Zero as possible but 55% of the problem resides on the demand side meaning where people use the energy and those Technologies are also available and today will be a lovely day
Because we’re going to be introducing 15 more innovations that will help and drive up these 70% even higher so the good news on the demand side is Technologies are no longer a future aspiration the aspiration today is how do we deploy it at speed with less resources and I’ll be talking about that
In in a minute now implementing the technology can give us if we do it scale a $2 trillion savings until 2030 globally so why not do it immediately we understand that some of those technology in the implementation will need probably payback periods of 10 years but there are many that are there
For 3 years to 5 years for S years and you know what we’re building building assets with a life cycle of 40 years or 50 years of 100 years why not invest in them to make them a little bit more sustainable so those are the five megatrends impacting us impacting
You and as a company this is where we feel at home because we need to ensure and Empower all to bridge progress 3 billion more people more energy requirement and sustainability for all not for us for all Ed Schneider we call this life is on our mission is to be your digital
Partner for sustainability and efficiency and we’ve been dedicating us to drive the sustainability and efficiency with technological solutions that we want to bring forward a journey towards a sustainable future together of course Innovation plays a huge role combined with electrif uh with um collaboration now how to do it in a simple
Way we think we need to digitize digitize means more automation more software data is going to be the golden source of being able to do that on the energy side is about decarbonization it’s also about Automation and electrification so digital Plus Electric is for us the equation to drive a
Sustainable future green and smart in all the assets that we’re building out in order to achieve that several years back we’ve introduced a very simple architecture eost structure open interoperable and it’s a it’s it’s out there it will you know bring connectivity it will bring efficiency it will bring sustainability when we talked
About this concept several years ago eight years ago 9 years ago it was wildly unknown today this framework this architecture is used at more than 500,000 sites at your sides thank you very much for that 20,000 developers have over the years driven this platform forward 650,000 Partners out of the world try to
Bring this to our clients in a certain way if I only pick utilities 3,000 utilities globally are using an equal structure architecture to drive it forward now um of course we were’re listening to you and many of you have told us some of the software that we have some of the
Applications that we have some of the analytics that we have they’re complicated to interact they’re not speaking to each other it takes too much time to bring them together and you know as I’ve mentioned I believe in the power of collaboration and that’s why we’re bringing out a new software
Platform an open ecosystem that we’re calling connect it will connect our customers with our software with Schneider software with Aviva software with EAP software with RB software with third party software and giving the clients one experience in consuming this software it will be driven out of one cohesive data infrastructure that’s
Bel below and it will allow every everybody in real time to look at the data whether you’re a CEO of the company or whether you’re a maintenance engineer and it will allow you to build your digital twin be it the electrical twin be it the process twin be it the carbon
Twin all of that um will be necessary now um maybe we shall log in and have a look and we log in and press the button imagine being able to peer into a sea of information to plot a course toward your Highest Potential imagine the merging of mountains of trusted intelligence from
Every Source into a single intuitive interface where everything seamlessly combines the heart of your operations revealed in real time imagine collaboration amongst teams throughout organizations and across continents an empowered ecosystem energized by an interactive community of experts collectively inspiring actionable insights Innovation growth and sustainability all assured and synchronized with the accelerating pace
Of transformation imagine if all that was all connected so you could see further innovate faster accomplish more that’s the power of the connect industrial intelligence platform in action that’s the connect effect well think of connect as a place where we bring together everybody independent of the brand independent of
Where they’re coming from think about it as accelerating the network that you’re working in with your suppliers with your customers all connected with the same data looking at real-time Data Drive continuous innovation together now is this a product or is this a vision I can tell you it’s a
Product and it is a vision going forward over the last two years we’ve built this platform in Aviva and we’re making it now available for all clients 4,000 customers already on the platform 17,000 active users on a daily weekly monthly basis that use software that is accessible there for infrastructure for industry for
Builders for data centers it’s great one data infrastructure one way of building the digital twin one experience for all so all of this to realize the potential of digitization of your assets as we explored connect serves as a central nervous system if you if you want of your industrial ecosystem not
Just of yourself we now take a look of course how that can also be used um elsewhere so the second big transformation we want to talk about is the pruma space and we start off in your home as homeowners or as business owners today or maybe in the future you generate
Energy you consume energy and you want to manage it within your four walls so we’ve been asked by many of you what can Schneider bring to the party well today I can tell you we going to bring Schneider charge many different chargers for your homes DC charge for more industrial
Environments Schneider boost a very nice home battery to store Schneider inverters because cars of the future electric cars of the Futures will go bidirectional in this regard and of course you want to manage this at home so a home energy management system easy to use on your phone as an
Application so the wiser home ecosystem to be able to control heating lighting cooling shutters charging of the car and so forth all of which is automatic the system will know how much sun you have in the afternoon and how you can use the energy that is generated by the sun whether it should
Go into the battery whether it should go into the car or whether you want to heat water that you want to use when you come home after work to take a shower all of that available today but we’re not stopping there we’re not stopping at the
House we go into commercial sites so in larger commercial sites where all of a sudden you need to have an operator to operate all the charging stations and go into DC control now many of uh you have also said well you know it’s quite complicated it’s quite
Complicated if I want to find an electrician who does that for me how do I do it now in the US we’ve made good experience with a company that we partially own our partner Cid in the US they have 3,500 contractors on their platform so if you want to get an
Installation that you buy when you buy your house for example you can immediately get connected to a contractor and we’re bringing this to Europe now country by country to make it easier for people and faster to drive the energy transition at home and also in other places but we won’t stop there
We also want to go into the grid so we need flexible mini grids in more industrial sites to be installed in a very couple um of of minutes 60% less uh installation time if if you will and then we’re making our journey all the way into the distribution grid with adms
And THM systems to utilities and uh as you’ve known SCH we always stopped at uh at the side of distribution grids now with the pi system that we had acquired 3 years we’re going to go all the way now also into the transmission grid with a data infrastructure that allows us to
Work on the data end to end from generation to the plug in your house and help to make this energy transition uh work so quite some big things that are coming to us but we won’t stop there so today we have another 14 highlights that we’re going to bring forward and
I’m not going to talk 5 minutes to each but 14 of them I start in the industrial environment with our new motor starter to make motors which are the biggest um uh the biggest user of electricity in industrial sites we drive down the installation time of machine users by
50% because there are not enough Engineers available uh of course people don’t know how to drive digital transformation so we started off some Consulting Services uh to drive industrial digital transformation with our clients help them to deploy the technology um our our new or um PLC system or automation system where we
Decouple software and hardware for much more flexibility then of course as you um as you know our you know Flagship products as medium voltage switches then airet and the master packed mty Z all of them designed for longer durability for Less Service uh requirements and for easier installations that what we’re
Driving forward we know that there are not not enough maintenance Engineers out there so with our ecocare product We’ll add the AI assisted service engineer that’s going to drive down the cost for our clients and will also um minimize the downtimes that they have now when we
Move to the grid side I talked about the distributed energy resource management M uh systems and all the way going into grid operations with um Advanced Data Management Systems all new with new flexibilities here in in the market I talked about the flexible um micro grid for for smaller locations and it is
Customized in a way that can be implemented very fast now all our clients want to dis when they do the design they want to simulate it so in EAP one of our soft companies we come out with a new simulation tool that will allow people to simulate the complete
Energy chain in order to make the right design choices and then we talked about the home energy management system and the EV prolink DC 15 no 14 uh innovations that we’re bringing out to the market today so you know visit the Innovation Hub this afternoon tomorrow to see more of those
And talk to the Specialists not to me I’m probably too confusing in in that regard but I tell you and as I said before the time for Action is now last 8 years we haven’t done enough 1.5 degree we all have a role to play in building a resilient sustainable future
For the next generation and we’re here to partner with all of you who want to create impact or be impact makers let’s learn about what an impact maker is let’s hear it for the makers the doers the fixers the people who take ambition and turn it into
Action let’s hear it for the facility managers who make Office Buildings more sustainable the operational Engineers who make the world’s factories more efficient let’s hear it for the people who lead the companies that innovate for the next generation and the homeowners who run their homes on Smart Energy these are the individuals the
Organizations who impact our daily lives to them it’s not just about balancing progress with sustainability it’s about bridging progress and sustainability for all through Automation electrification and digitization if we’re going going to do more with less every single step counts big and small let’s hear it for the
Makers let’s hear it for the impact [Applause] makers those are the people that deploy Innovations and create impact in 2023 we went out and said to our clients to our end customers tell us about how you create impact we’ve had a tremendous response 800 clients send us their story about how they created
Impact 12 of them today we have here and we want to give them the schn electric sustainability impact award for the great impact they have generated in the businesses they’re in here the 12 companies of of whom we have Representatives here if you guys want to
Stand up and ladies and give a big hand to them wee thank you very much thank you so much it is really uh appreciated I think you’re um it’s not only about Innovation it’s about Innovation collaboration and taking actions implemented those are great companies that have driven this forward
And will continue with this program and uh further enhance it in many of the geographies where we’re we’re active now um you’ve um maybe heard enough from me now uh but uh I thought it’d be good to have some real impact makers on the on the stage with me to hear their stories
How they use some of the technology and um create the um innovation for impact for for their company so um let’s um first maybe learn about nexans an impact maker that is around for 120 years a French company that we’re going to be talking about in in a Second Perance Man for Ben [Applause] Please welcome to the stage the CEO of nexans Christopher gurin hi Christopher good to have you here thank you very much thank you Peter it’s a it’s a pleasure and um thank you for joining us it was great to to see how um in the video how nexans
Articulates what it means by being an impact maker but maybe before we get into the depth of it why don’t you start by telling the crowd a little bit what um what Nexon is is all about yeah sure Nexon is one of the key uh kolon system
Leaders but if we are back back in time we started more than 130 years ago you know uh in 1872 where we needed at that time to support the pioneers of electricity Edison Tesla wasting House baj Franklin that needed cables to conve the electricity so NEX participated with uh um the first to
Support the first electrical re Revolution from 1890 to 1910 we electrified the sh in 1900 of course we participate to the second uh I will say electrical Revolution that were first World War I between 1950 and and 70 this is where emerged all the fossil fuel generation and as well nuclear plant on
The grid electrical grid that we know today which is by the way 50 years old and now we entering in the third electrical Revolution uh before we were in a kind of Maintenance period where we need to inject massive uh I would say numbers of kilometers of cables because we need to
Shift from fossil fuels to renewable energy offshore offshore Wind Farm solar farm but as well we need to renew the Grid on you and me we know that electrification is the fastest way for decarbonation yeah no absolutely and uh you know together we share almost 300
Years or a little bit more than 300 years the the same vision of an all electric future um so we’re two sides of the same coin in the energy transition if you if you will nexon’s a little bit um more upstream and we’re we’re a little bit more Downstream right um so
You know maybe you can elaborate maybe on on on your role and nexon’s role in the energy transition but I will say I will give you two numbers um the first one because of the uberization effect because of the growth of population um and because of the fact
That we need to renew the electrical grid of Europe which is 50 years as I mention on 48 in North America we need to inject UH 60 million kilometers of cable in the GP uh um it’s massive massive demand the problem we have is as well is the fact that uh we need
Copper and uh just for 20 million kilm of cables you need an equivalent of 20 million tons of copper and this is today the uh the overall consumption of copper worldwide all application together um so we are only at the beginning of of of this revolution I think uh we have been
Able in next sance to make a deep transformation uh we have been able to I will say uh double aare profitability while reducing our carbon footprint by uh 34 37% but still a long way for us to go to support the electrification demand yeah no no and uh you know speaking
About about this when we talked the last time what challenges are in in front of us in in driving this transformation not only in you know raw material supply and Technology how to make it more efficient and use less technology but also the potential of digitization we have so we
Know um it does revolutionize Industries um optimizes some of the processes that are required and um you know to drive efficiency and sustainability and we’ve seen in the video a little bit how you deploy it maybe more inside yeah I would say that what what what I just mentioned is that
The problem we have today is that the ambition is clear but the difficulties is that all nations are waking up at the same time everything wants the same thing at the same time so are we able to deploy an equivalent of 60 million Kil of cables
In coming 10 to 15 years no way no way scarcity of raw material scarcity of cable will will be a major Ro blocks for for for the evolution so we need to find new ways uh we need to keep maintaining what we have in in the in a shap that it is
Today so of course we need automation we need digitalization but we need as well more intelligence to sustain what we have today because even will take more than 25 years to replace what I’ve been built in the last in in the last 45 years in a case of NEX of course
Digitization was part of the transformation process you know we’ve been uh uh pretty uh um I would say courageous to work on complexity reduction doing all we need to do on lean management but need now we need a different scale and these different scales comes with digitalization and this is the work we
Do we are doing very well with you guys because we need to digitalize our supply CH we need to bring artificial intelligence and we need to find a little you know Improvement that we are not able to find ourself with our teams thanks to um thanks to data and I will
Say Peter if you all me I think the gold of Tomorrow is copper because you need copper for electricity but it’s data of course yeah now as I as I said is one of the the Golden Goose is is data in um of course in addition to to raw material
Now you know of course we both know about the partnership that both companies have and that we’ve driven the digital transformation together in in nexans be it in the production and be it in services and and and so forth I’m I’m sure there are a lot of people that
Would like to understand despite the technology you know what were some of the challenges and how did you resolve them as a you know maybe a little bit of an input to them yeah I I think it’s more um first I consider really that uh the challenge that we have ahead of us
Either we are talking climate either we are talking geopolitics or um electrification in a in a positive manner I think the the challenges are so big that we need to work in a ecosystemic manner uh and we use certainly in the last 15 years all companies the world
World Partnership in a very very uh uh extensive way but I think um what we need to do as partners in coming 15 years will be fundamental because we are not able to solve those big issue alone we need to Partners and the way we work
With with you with you guys is just fantastic because we really have been able to go through problem solving uh to adapt your tools your Visions to to our issues it was not um I would say a PL andplay solution to customize in order not to uh
Not allow the the scale up in a very very fast manner so like you’ve seen on the video with M my we have done two pilot togethers now we are scanning in all the units because you should not look at it as a traditional return of
Investment you need to think as well on the what what it bring in terms of competitiveness but as well what it will bring in the future as a distinctive advantage to go to produce faster and to deliver faster than your competitor yeah and help your clients faster at the end
Of the day thank you very much for for for those insights Chris Chrisman thanks very much for um sharing with us today we have a chance to discuss a little bit later in in the Forum thank you so much for for joining us thank you thank you
Big hand for Christopher so as we’ve discussed the digital transformation is of course a journey and it starts with um always with the first step so let’s take a little bit of a deeper look um how industrial digital transformation Service Experts um with customers um that are on their Journey here in this
Short video Our own digital transformation Journey began at Schneider Electric in 2017 implementing our Energy Management Automation and Industrial software in over 100 of our own smart factories and distribution centers while also working with Partners many of which have been recognized globally as World economic Forum Lighthouse now refering our
Knowledge and skill SK to our customers with our industrial digital transformation Service A specialized Consulting and deployment organization with our customers we co-develop their transformation road map and partner with them to deliver it end to end wherever they are thanks to our Global execution capabilities we are focused on operational excellence asset performance
Sustainability and cyber security our digital core models carefully tailored by Industries also leverage AI capabilities and are designed with our customers specific challenges in mind our digital transformation programs translate into measurable impact productivity equipment availability quality and sustainability many of our customers Journal start with a visit to
One of our Schneider smart factories and we invite you to come experience industrial transformation firsthand Please welcome to the stage the CEO and chairman of gear Stefan Kber hi Stefan thanks very much for joining us thank you for being here well Stefan has um as he um told me earlier uh interrupted his short holiday because his plant is so digitized that he could take a couple days um a couple days off thank you for that so we’re continuing
The digital journey and expand the discussion to include um the relationship with sustainability which is um quite important at Gia and I learned much more at the last World economic Forum where we were together so tell maybe the um the customers here and the people about the Gia Gia Mission and
For for sustainability and where you stand I’d like to do that thank you Peter welcome everybody so you might not know the company Gia but I’m quite sure that you know a lot of our customers and the product from our customers because you are daily in touch with this kind of
Products what are we doing we are focused on food beverage and farma Industry we do machineries and equipment for these customers for instance every third coffee line instant coffee line is made from us um another example is one qu of all processed milk doesn’t matter if it is
Yogurt skier uh ice cream uht milk or by the way also the Greek yogur was invented by Gia together with one of our customers and not less important every second liter of beer worldwide is made in our bre house and our machine so therefore I always recommend to drink
True glasses of beer so you can be always sure that one is at least from GE yeah clapping is allowed also every fourth liter of blood plasma is made with our machines and equipment and I could go on for hours but let me also make one more example we
Are just now at the moment building in the US the first industrial Factory for cell-based protein for cell-based meat uh and this is the future because we cannot feed the world with traditional means and this is also where we are at the spearhead of the development this is what GI is about and
We also have a very strong focus on sustainability like ler and we really take it serious and uh what does that mean is also reflected in our targets we just got our certification from the spti to net0 2040 only a few companies are certified to Net Zero and we have quite
Challenging targets so we want to increase our scope one and two by 80% until 2030 and our scope three is which is always the most important for industrial companies like ours to uh from about 27.5% % to become as I said Net Zero already in 2040 and of course we need
Strong partners because we are a machine Building Company we need components products which are building in our machines and therefore Schneider is a perfect partner because we share the same values and we are committed to really make the world a better place what exactly do we do so for
Instance we have focused a lot of our our R&D expenses on sustainability we also conducted last year so-called sustainer tons you might have heard about heatons but what we invented and did are sustain aons to really focus our brilliant Engineers to find ideas how to become more effective more resource efficient with our
Machines we also have labeled our product with at better logo which means that these are products which are really saving energy there is a validated process by the German Tiff behind so that the customers also have a guidance we change also to pure electrification and uh these are some
Examples what we do and of course digitization plays also important role here so um you know I was intrigued when I learned two weeks ago at the at the uh CEO leadership on um on climate change that you talked about you know the sustainer Hecker what is it sustain
Sustain Aon which I thought was a great great idea and I made a note of it um but you you move to digitization is clearly clearly a key enabler uh to achieving sustainability goals um that you just shared now can you elaborate a little bit more on the role of
Digitization in in aa’s initiatives absolutely digitization is really very helpful when it comes to energy saving so we have implemented many many things for instance um you might know what a spray dryer is a spray dryer is a huge device where milk for instance is converted into milk
Powder and that is highly energy intensive and by a digital solution we could optimize that device and that we save more than 10% of the energy and also we are very happy that we share with Schneider your experience in the Echo design and also the ecost structure uh automation platform is very helpful
In some of our applications oh no that’s very very useful and you you bring a very valid point that we haven’t talked about is the design of the products because there should be sustainability built in in the components that um that we’re using so it’s been um a great
Journey together uh again thank you very much for that stepan thank you very much for interrupting your holidays for for a day to come and see us in in Paris and I look forward to creating more impact to together thank you very much Peter thank you Stan thank you thank you
Pleasure so of course we’re we’re very proud to partner with uh with G in in this disruption and that you know Stefan mentioned as one of the solutions that we’re deploying is um our um softwar defined automation technology called ecost structure automation expert which
Is playing a key role and we’ve put a a little bit of footage together so to give you the the idea of what it does in respect to agility and flexibility that is required to meet the market demands that Stefan just uh shared with us imagine your it Department only let
You upgrade to a new laptop every 20 years now apply this concept to Industrial Automation much of today’s automation Tech technology was designed and installed decades ago before the increase of computing power we have now and the automation systems design was often defined around the hardware required and tied to a single supplier
This leaves customers with very little Choice very little flexibility and a lot of complexity think of a factory or plant with hundreds if not thousands of pieces of Hardware all of these components need to work together in a production line and each piece of hardware comes with its own software to code industrial
Businesses need to be more efficient and agile by utilizing Advanced Digital Technologies data and AI it’s time for change that’s why we have joined forces with other automation leaders pioneers and manufacturers to drive Universal automation the world’s first shared Source open automation technology and we are proud to have launched eost structure automation
Expert the world’s first softwar def find Universal automation solution placing our customer’s Choice first automation expert is supplier agnostic meaning it can run on any universal automation based hardware and many others automation expert leverages softwar defined automation this has a big impact on accelerating Innovation and improving operations just like in
The IT world this means that industrial companies can choose the automation technology they want mix and match the applications into one seamless system and have one common digital thread because of this our customers efficiency is significantly increased for both their engineering and operational phase throughout their entire life cycle our
Customers are no longer tied to specific Hardware giving them continuous access the latest technology and Innovation just what companies need to thrive please welcome to the stage the chief procurement officer at infini Tech te Oles Angelique [Applause] vanderberg thank you very much for for joining us please thank you thanks for
Having me uh we’re we’re excited to have you today because I think our two companies have um a truly unique trusted partnership and as we discussed earlier you said you know when I when I said I talked to Yan last week he said oh he’s
On the other side of the house that was that was that was interesting um maybe you can share a little bit um with the with the people here what infinion is all about before we get into it yeah so infan is a very cool company we are a
Semiconductor uh company I think this audience probably knows what that is but just in case uh so we make chips and uh you can find us in many applications in your car um in windmills in solar panels uh also in um your credit card your passport and of course in Snider electrics uh
Products so absolutely we use quite a bit of um you know your formidable products and um you know we’ve uh we’ve talked about the relationship that we have in you know us being the customer uh and you being the supplier and buis versa so maybe you can you know share a
Little bit your experience um and you know I’d be interested in your point of view what the successful partnership is all about yeah that’s a very interesting question especially in the context of our uh company’s relationship where we work both uh with you as a customer as
Well as a as as a supplier so I would say for any Partnership of course it is a combination of having both something unique but also so having uh something shared so I think our both our companies have unique um uh value that that the other company uh values so we can create
Uh value together but maybe more importantly is that we have a lot of in common uh so we have a shared long-term uh view uh shared long-term uh vision and we call it driving decarbonization and digitalization together which I think fits very well the together side both on
The sales and and the customer um side so it’s about shared Vision it’s about the shared long-term relationship but I would also say it’s about shared values and both of us have a passion for sustainability as well as Innovation and that’s I think where the partnership on
Our side works well you know excellent points I think it makes makes it quite natural uh in in that respect and we’re we’re using quite a bit of um your technology to you know to empower our products to actually drive efficiency and decarbonization so you
Um tell us a little bit how you are driving the efforts in INF finan yeah so so we look at it from uh two sides on the one hand the products that we make and Supply to you um but also on the way we deliver those products so maybe I
Start with uh the products that we deliver first so our products really reduce the CO2 footprint of our customer so if we have need one ton of CO2 we can reduce 34 ton of CO2 at at our customer side so which is interesting if you look at like one small example if everyone
Would have just your mobile phone charger you would have infinion inside we would be able together to save uh the electricity of the city of Munich oh wow and if I look at that in the bigger scheme this is just one of the products of course that we we deliver
If we look at in a bigger scheme so we look at all the products that infinion delivers on a yearly basis uh we can save 12.5% of the European consumption so I would say our products really drive a decarbonization or support decarbonization of of customers uh like
Like like yourself uh on the other hand uh we are a power semiconductor so we we like the the sentence the quote from Spider-Man are you familiar with the SP I don’t Enlighten us yeah it is uh with great power comes great responsibility so we also think we should take our own
Responsibility um so also in our supply chain we are working hard to reduce our footprint and in the last four years we doubled our business but we halfed our CO2 footprint and halfing our CO2 footprint is not easy uh as you as you know and in some cases also Snider
Electric help us there for example with finding alternatives to greenhouse gases uh we’re working on a specific solution with your team but also the transition to Green electricity uh so I’m responsible for procurement so we’re buying for the first time green electricity and we learned from your
Experts uh to get insights in the green electricity area so on both sides on the product side as well as on the way we deliver our products uh to you we are driving decarbonization no I think it’s quite exciting and you see the alignment you know when uh when angelik is driving
Down scope one and scope two this is our scope three Upstream uh which is important and then if the components use less energy that is going to be helpful in our scope three Downstream so it’s all interconnected when when we’re working together and if the if if we’re
So aligned with our partners I I think people can see how special it is and if I can you know pick up on uh and do a little uh short advertisement in between the um the electricity that you purchase I think is in in the United States with
Um uh you know the Green Tech Team um that um where we’re Furnishing um you know purchasing power agreements for Green Technology to you and um that that helps um in in respect to the energy usage be much more renewable in in this regard but uh We’ve also deployed a
Digitization technology in 18 of your um of your Fabs through through a viiva and um you know quite some stuff that is uh that is ongoing to together you know I’d be interested in in your in your view and you know what else maybe uniquely uh we can drive in our
Partnership yeah I think it’s very interesting to see that our teams uh from different locations are working together on different solutions uh I’m going to take a look at one of uh the pro the project your team is working on later where we really bring the different Innovation Partners um
Together from both our organization to come up with great ideas that then can be used by US but also by other customers and of course with infinion inside right yeah yeah absolutely because in you know Innovation for impact and there’s also uh more important also your Innovation because
That’s going to help us to create impact and the R&D teams working now much closer together um that what we have driven in the last two years is um from my perspective is fabulous and it’s uh great for um for both companies so thank you very much for that thank you thank
You also for my side I think it’s really interesting to to work with a company where we work both on the sales and uh on the customer side and we re really would like to applaud also your drive for sustainability fully in line with what we also like to do and impressed
Also by how you are driving that in in your chain and you really have also that endtoend thinking in uh in your value chain which is I think very interesting and uh unique so well done well thank you very much for saying that thank you
Very much for joining us un Le it’s uh I think you can see how a trusted partnership in you know bidirectional is really helping to create impact uh thank you very much for that thank you for spending the time with us it’s been a pleasure thank you much thank
You so now let’s explore how this customer first mentality translate into action with um our Innovation um that we we call ecare which is delivering on our promise to trust an outstanding service now with the support of AI Choosing the right Partners is an essential part of business success not just on individual projects but for the lifetime of your installation keeping your operations running and peig performance especially when exposed to new stresses like Renewables intermittency higher loads from electrification and complexity from automation this puts a lot more pressure on
Business continuity from assets to Workforce a time and maintenance are crucial yet today most maintenance is scheduled on a calendar rather than being condition based and predictive with more electricity flowing into factories data centers and buildings safety becomes even more a concern for many of our customers just 1 hour of
Downtime can cost up to €300,000 unscheduled repairs of low and medium voltage assets can take more than 100 hours 200 hours for Transformers I don’t even want to think about what that could cost and that’s why we developed ecocare ecocare is a Next Generation Services membership plan designed to minimize
Downtime optimize costs and improve safety so how does eare work it processes your sensor data such as temperature humidity insulation and moistures into our ecost structure iot platform and our 6,000 AI learning models then our connected Services Hub a Global Network of 247 remote experts monitor analyze and troubleshoot ecocare member assets
If there’s anything detected which might compromise a time we’ll immediately dispatch our on-site Services team I spoke about safety earlier well let me give you a real world example electrical fires electrical fires are one of the most frequent and serious examples of electrical failure with ecocare our unique electrical fire
And health indexes powered by AI help reduce electrical failure Risk by up to 75% we Monitor and manage 45,000 types of events which could otherwise generate costly disruption and unplanned downtime we also apply our exclusive maintenance index to help members reduce scheduled maintenance costs by up to 40% by shifting from calendar to
Condition-based all while extending asset life most importantly ecocare members receive Priority Access to emergency support whether on site or remote helping shrink down metime to repair AI powered condition based with an expert Global Network to deliver up time safety and business continuity that’s eare Membership please welcome to the stage the CEO of jll work Dynamics for Asia Pacific Sashi Cole welcome s thank you very much much thank you and thank you for joining us all the way from from Singapore it’s really appreciated it now you’ve we’ve been in raw material we’ve been in factories um and now we’ve we’ve gone deep into um you know back into the
Semiconductor uh let’s talk about something that um relates to all of us buildings homes offices um maybe before we we do that share a little bit what jll is all about sure um I was getting a bit worried about the time of companies I think we had one speaker here it was
1872 uh we were founded uh 5 years before Australia was founded by the English and English founded us also in 1783 just 5 years before Australia was founded so we’re a very old company uh with a long history of data we probably touched every aspect of buildings or uh
Build environment um we service developers investors I see a bunch of investors developers here and pretty much every occupier here in the room in some shape or form uh we would have touched them so that’s what we do across the built environment and we will do investment management we’ll do
Transactions we’ll do design and build we’ll do Facilities Management we’ll do Property Management that’s the broad spectrum of the services that we offer right so many of the assets you put in place they’re going to be there for a very very long time so you know I think
Um and I understand you have a very interesting perspective um of um of the future of work in particular as um as it relates to jll’s exploration into the science of work uh something you can share here with um with people sure now this is the time when you don’t look at
Your mobile phones because this is going to change your life um so what science of work or Neuroscience of work I’m going to talk a little bit about that and you know Peter foras the journey started actually before covid um we realized technology is going to play a
Big part in whatever we do in future of work number one the second piece was it was getting more important what we do rather than where we do it from so that was a big shift um having said that and you guys can see me with a gadget on my
Head I mean these are now this is a three or four year old study where I was a subject of the study um and now the the the the more recent ones are you can have literally the airports in your air uh and what we were trying to find was
What’s the cognitive load what’s the cognitive load on each one of us subject to a different environment so I could be Starbucks I could be at home I could be in a collaborative space I could be in a meeting room I could be in a noisy Place whatever the case was what’s the
Cognitive load and you measure the heartbeats with ECG so this is the EEG equipment which measures the brain waves if you will and tells us the load and what we were trying to achieve was if we had to design future Office Buildings or offices we want to see what’s the mean
Or the average of the load based on the different work Styles and work settings so we can set up the design of the offices so that was our first research and study I’ll talk about one more but before I go there I want to show you a
Short video every company has a video so I thought I’ll also promote myself here with a 58c video and then I’ll go to the next piece we at jlll are co-creating the invention literally the invention of human Center responsive workplaces our vision of modern workplace is a platform that embodies
Company’s culture and purpose the major shift we’re seeing from our clients is that hybrid work is not a point of contention now it’s a reality and hence the solutioning we’re working towards is to make hybrid work like our clients are telling us that hybrid is here to stay our GL boardroom is telling
Us hybrid is here to stay too the study into human creativity is not only important for GL I would say it’s important for the world because what we’re trying to solve for is the biggest challenge organizations have today it’s the challenge of human resources and
What we are trying to do is to generate spaces and experiences that are vital for organizations to attract and retain Talent so we could be a major magnet for organizations with the spaces we can provide for the employees hopefully that was a good one um not the second piece of the research
And there was a serious message there around human potential uh creativity Etc so what what you see here on the screen is Andy Walsh Andy Walsh is the high performance coach of the Red Bull Formula 1 team um and what he does is he studies creativity he’s done the largest
Hacking of creativity it’s called hacking creativity the largest study of creativity in the world looking at all the creative brains could be musician entrepreneurs people like you and I anybody out there to establish a pattern of how creative people think or how high potential supposedly high potential
People think and then marrying that high potential towards what he call Creative Styles so each one of us here in the audience you and I included have a particular style which is unique to us so he coined these Styles as seven different styles so now I’m going to
Combine my first study of Neuroscience with the second study of styles so Neuroscience told us in Office Buildings how your brain or cerebral will work in different work Styles and work settings and this gave us the style if you can marry the two and imagine 2030 2035
Maybe at at at at most you will walk through buildings which will have the technology of Schneider will be probably designed and bu by organizations like us and what you’ll see in the building you walk through based on your calendar of events and this is real that’s why I
Told you to keep your phones Down based on your calendar of events a particular spot will be assigned to you which will be the best spot for you it’s not about gdpr technology is all pervasive you can put a lot of Regulation around it but it’s going to come to you whatever you
Do so might as well embrace it and get the best spot in that office which gives you and allows you to do the best work you can do of your life life and that’s what we after in the science of work or the Neuroscience of work Peter it does
Sound a little bit creepy when I talk about it I I think it’s fascinating it’s fascinating when I listen to you I think nobody ever should have a problem to bring people back to work yeah into the office I’m I’m I mean so that’s uh that’s there but there is of course A
New challenge also with the next generation of of people that come that may work in a different in a different way and when you put out assets um for you know 30 40 years y the um you need to think about this next Generation as
Well so what do you what do you see maybe more Concrete in the next 5 to 10 years so you know if I if I look at just broad Trends uh in our in our Marketplace um the number one you know which is which is what this this whole
Um two days of yours Peter is about is the acceleration of the knowledge economy or digitization so the kind of buildings will be built the kind of people the knowledge workers people will now think for a living because the transactional work unfortunately fortunately will be done by someone else
Whether we like it or not down the road so these assets will be very different and it’s a huge asset class or a opportunity for firms like yours and ours or or many people here in the audience that’s the first one big Trend the second one is urbanization I don’t
Need to say we are in the city of Paris I took two hours from Charles theal to here uh and it will only get worse down the road you know with Olympics here so that’s happening in every city of the world stay until 10: p.m. then it’s not
So bad no I’m going to leave tomorrow morning Singapore um and so that urbanization is going to drive massive infrastructure needs and housing needs so those are two big trends in urbanization that leads to another piece which is demographics uh I got three teenage girls in Singapore um and
Singapore if you born around that time you will live till 102 this is a real data 102 whether they will have the income to live till 102 and the body to live till 102 but they will live to 102 so what will happen the assets that
We’ll have to build down the road the the different generation of assets will be very different than what youve seen in the past in terms of the demographics uh out there the fourth one is logistics which is kind of interesting preo it was a good asset class postco is the second
Most invested asset class in the world after living which is kind of understandable housing um and Logistics around L mile stuff uh rural uh fulfillment centers warehousing these have become big topics we got Logistics experts in real estate companies like jell can you believe it working for the
Tolls or seers and other big real uh logistics companies and now driving Logistics in real estate that’s the fourth TR the fifth one probably the theme of this whole conference is um uh decarbonization I won’t go into the details we uh contribute 40% the built environment to to the carbon and in
Cities like Paris 60% so we are a big contributor and you guys will discuss a lot about that but what I wanted to kind of close out in the last sort of 30 seconds or so was our partnership um so G manages close to 5 billion Square ft
Of space now some of this real estate was built 200 years back some some was built yesterday uh we have an obligation Peter you and I to make sure that these buildings are fit for purpose for future so that the climate action and change is adhered to and done so we’ve been
Working quite closely with Schneider on your digital Journey with us in our office environment jll’s own office environment I’ve been a big proponent of your ecost structure technology we use it all the time in Jail’s offices as well as our clients offices so so I just want to close that was unpaid
Advertisement thank you very much um thanks for giving me the video so it’s good um I just wanted to return the favor no jokes aside Peter I mean I just wanted to end off with saying thank you for the support you’re giving to us and thousands of organizations out there who
Live in these uh 5 billion square fet of space so thank you for that no no thank you and you know if you didn’t know that a building is a Hightech asset with a Long View into the future I think uh so so you’ve done a great job in in
Explaining that and how important it is to to design for the future for the Next Generation for sustainability for Less uh carbon in in the build process and in the use process so thank you very much for for joining us it was great to have
You here and I wish you less traffic and a good flight back to Singapore thank you so much thank [Applause] You so our our customers such as GL are um on a critical Journey as you can see towards Energy Efficiency decarbonization and um we’re committed to providing the tools the Technologies for for them to succeed so let’s have a um a few more impact Innovations for the building Market We just heard how inspirational buildings are transforming our lives and we know that they present huge opportunity to help decarbonize our planet so let me tell you about not one but three new impact Innovation to accelerate decarbonization and efficiency we often focus on large buildings but the reality is that it’s
The millions of small and mid buildings that contribute to More than 70% of the total CO2 emissions in the build environment and this building owners and operators are often the one that struggle to understand how to bridge a gap between sustainability ambition and action eost structure for small and
Midside buildings is a cloud-based solution that connects building operation with metering and sensor to control energy monitoring real time alarming hvic lighting and even sustainability all in one simple H as a result energy demand can be cut by as much as half and carbon emission by up to
60% so the perfect way to take action is now available in the palm of your hand and from anywhere in the world even if you happen to be spending a little time in Paris a key transformation that buildings are undergoing come from the growth of electric vehicles effectively turning them into fueling
Stations EV owners don’t want to stop to charge they want to charge when they stop and they want to do it quickly our new eving producy family of chargers Earnest the power of direct current and that means rapid charging with the majority of the EVS reaching a 80%
Charge in just 20 minutes effectively securely and without sacrificing power reability but as EV charging and electrification grow buildings require more energy adding onsight rebles and energy storage is an effective way to help the energy transition building owners and operators are already turning to micr GD but there
Is a major challenge when when it comes to deployment that’s time and complexity a typical micro project can take as long as three years and requires a mad of contractor integrator and project teams this need to be much simpler and now with ecost structure micro grid Flex It
Is by combining micro grid controls and equipment with battery storage and software in one integrated solution project duration and cost can be cut in half and micro Flex doesn’t just manage energy cost and loads it even incorporates realtime CO2 pricing to maximize profitability fast Roi and decarbonization
Impact so there you have it ecost structure for small and midside buildings eving prodc and ecost structure micro Flex three example of how our new impact Innovation are Paving the way for more connected interactive efficient and sustainable buildings well we’ve spent some time in the factories in the raw materials in um
Machine building we went um deep into semiconductors and then into large buildings I think it’s time to move to the homes not your home the Schneider home I should probably point out that these aren’t pictures of course of my home and I don’t have these animals of
Course as you would as you would imagine um but um you know these are people that you or animals that you give trust trust in and the Peace of Mind in your home is something very very important for yourself and embracing sustainable Solutions is key in that
Regard so with that in mind I have um Elsa May who is out in the Innovation Summit Elsa hello how are you hi Peter well I’m here in our Innovation Hub to show you our impact Innovation for homes in fact you should come down and see for
Yourself well I should um in in fact um I should come down right after that to see yourself I certainly will of course U but um first let me ask you after covid we’ve seen our homes become much more technology driven and to a large extent multi-purpose there are no longer just
Places where we live but there are also places where we learn where we work where we ultimately strengthen our bonds with the you know the family and the friends around us but in turn it means our homes are using more energy and therefore impacting climate change on top of that here in Europe
We’ve also seen through the energy volatility that of course our builds have significantly gone up so Elsa what solution can you offer here to to our guests well Peter like you said we’re demanding more from our homes at a time when energy is costing us more than ever
The good news is that there is a growing adoption of Technologies like solar heat pump and Energy Efficiency Solutions in tandem with some supportive government policy to help reduce your energy bill and Emissions this is why I am proud to announce our latest impact Innovation for homes the wiser home Energy
Management solution connected with our latest intelligence electrical panel resi 9 Energy Center they work together as a brain of your home powered by our proprietary artificial intelligence and machine learning wiser helps you consume less energy just what you need at the cheapest tarff and from the cleanest sources available with our ecosystem of
Smart sensors and fitter connected Hardwares wiser hemp Compares energy consumption patterns utility tariffs and even weather forecast to optimize your home’s energy us AG along with control of your devices and apply zero compromise on comfort and all this comes together in our userfriendly Wier app in
The real world that mean Wier does a thinking for you what you consume when you consume it and how it can reduce your energy bill seriously nobody wants to go outside in the sleepers to plug the car at 1: p.m. when the Tariff becomes cheaper wiser will learn your
Habit bit how far you usually Drive the best time to charge so no matter what time you come home wiser will only start charging at 1 p.m. or whenever your electricity rates are at their lowest many of us now want solar panels to generate their own electricity and
Reduce their Reliance on the grid resin n Energy Center our intelligent electrical panel direct the extra electricity to the home’s battery and star rate for cloudy days Wier can even shift energy intensive tasks to time when your solar panel are producing the most energy for example wiser can schedule
The heating of your water tank and E charging during PX solar production hours but where wiser hemp really stands apart is it unique easy to use up it is the only AI powered Energy Management solution capable of managing the integration of new sources and all electrical loads into a single app
Making it the best and safest option for home earth oh and it can be installed in a single day without causing any disruption can i s you up Peter well um sign me up seriously while I have just retrofitted my house I learned that the um that this can be an easily retrofit
Within within a day and um I’m not asking for a discount like all our guests here today uh thank you Elsa for inviting us to to your Schneider home this afternoon and this of course out there in in the Innovation Summit the um and I encourage
All of you to spend some time in the Innovation Hub you can speak to experts that know much much more than than I do and that can go into the details of what we need and discover more um of all our impact Innovations you’ve heard about here today on stage Innovation for
Impact thank you all thank you very much to our guest speakers that we’ve had today so um the the energy in the room was great I could hear you read the lips of our our guests today thank you for that we’re very honored to have you here
And spend your valuable time uh with us um in um in building your factories your your buildings uh your homes um the infrastructure all together with us uh it is all about Innovation for impact and it requires collaboration so the conversation shouldn’t end here actually it should
Start how we can collaborate and I invite you into the Innovation Hub where you can learn more about the powerful products and systems and solutions we’re offering thank you very much for being with with us this afternoon for an hour and a half spending your valuable time
With me and my guests thank you so [Applause] [Applause] much
