This podcast is part of the sports social podcast network no breaks no breaks no fear no fear the official British Speedway podcast welcome along this is Ian Brandon we’ve got lots of reaction from the first few meetings in the row motor oil Premiership and we’ve had our first super heat between the Birmingham
Brummies and Sheffield Tigers feel the boys we just trying to work out the setup it’s a it’s a crucial thing around here and um you know the bummies got off to a very good start but we should of s of showed our class and uh you know
Finish on top more to come from Josh Pickering along with Leon Flint summer maleno and Simon stead in just a while also reaction from last week’s fixture at Lester we’ll hear from Luke Becka and Rob lion our main interview is going to be with James denim who is the team
Manager of the workington Comets they get their season underway in quite some Style with three meetings in three days we all know what he can do on a bik and and certainly know what he can do and we’re going to support him make sure gets what he needs and I think he could
Be the one want really the top of the top of the averages this year and and that’s what he wants and and if all these guys can improve on average on paper then I can’t see why we can’t be um knocking on the in the top four and
In the final part we have a good catch up with Jack holder at the Premiership media day last week and we find out what he’s listening to on his iPod or Walkman or whatever it is the kids use these days there’s a couple of Aussie rappers that I really like um Hulan hefts
They’re called the one4 all gang related so it’s pretty it’s pretty wild all this and much more to come on no breaks no fear no breaks no fear the official British Speedway podcast welcome along to no breaks no fear for another week as we head towards the Easter weekend and
There’s lots of fixtures to look forward to as the cab direct Championship gets underway over the Easter weekend and we will speak to one of the first team managers to be in action and one of the most eagerly anticipated as well with the workington Comets coming to the
Tapes at Championship level we’ve got team boss James denim with us a little later to look ahead to his team’s chances he’s the main guest in part two first of all though we’ll start by Looking Back to the action on Monday night and it was the Champions the
Sheffield Tigers who were taken all the way to a super heat by newcomers the Birmingham brummies in a dramatic row motor oil Premiership Clash on Monday evening at Perry bar the brmes and the Tigers Drew 45 a piece after the 15 races it was the largest attendance in
Years at Perry bar as well and the visitors fighting back from a 10-point deficit with five races to go Grand Prix Stars Ty wendon and Jack holder combined for a 5-1 in heat 15 to level the scores and then repeated that feat again in the additional race after home number one
Vaclav milck was disqualified tyw and racked up 15 plus one during the regular meeting unbeaten after finishing third in his first ride Rising Star Reserve Leon Flint impressed for the hosts with nine as they got off the mark in the league with a point for the draw let’s
Hear from some of those involved we’ll hear from a couple of riders in fact we’ll hear from the ry’s top scorer Leon Flint in a few moments and Josh Pickering of the Sheffield Tigers first of all to the management and Victorious visiting team manager Simon stead who
Had a bit of a scare and to be honest he was glad it was over yeah I am uh obviously pleased that we’ve got points on the board um it was a difficult one tonight fair play Birmingham um look really sharp and we we we didn’t uh but
You know it’s early days for us um we haven’t had a great deal of track time uh and I think that shows in in the early Heats uh when we get dialed in uh we we seem to come back strong but um again plenty of positives uh nice to get
Some points on the board like I said uh and uh looking forward to finally getting a home meeting on at shefield on Thursday you say to come from 10 points down what what did you make of the Sid character throughout tonight yeah great they they they never know that they’re
Beaten um great team spirit all fighting for each other um all thinking we could get back into it and uh and that’s what we did so um yeah like I said it’s just the early Heats have been a disappointment in in in both the meetings that we’ve had so far but um I
Know all the lads are really looking forward to a meeting at Sheffield uh just helping them get dialed in a little bit more and uh blow some more cobwebs off but ultimately you know what’s important is we’ve got two points on the board yeah certainly so and on the back
What you’ve said there that’s going to be important to bear in mind early on because it’s been such a long time since since you did ride at ton hasn’t it yeah it has um but it’s uh you know it it will be another test for us that’s for
Sure uh but a great opportunity to get some more laps in uh and like I said to to blow the cobwebs off and um uh you know welcom in Oxford for first time to Sheffield in a long time um it it it won’t be uh won’t be an easy
Task so we need to we need to try and start from heat one uh and not not sort of heat seven or eight well Sam maleno what are the emotions like after that ah wow um it’s a shame it always comes down to the end and um when you think you
Have half a chance the crowd was right behind it a little bit of a mishap in the in the first turn in the superheat and whether the referee made the right decision or the wrong decision it kind of spoiled the whole thing I think you
Know we we um we uh overcame the odds in the last part of the probably four or five Heats when it looked like the Sheffield probably could have you know crammed in a couple five ones and we we actually split them and did well you know and you know some Josh picking kind
Of won the meeting for them or got him in that position getting those three points when maybe we should have had that one but all in all uh emotions were up and down I think my I got fired up a little bit more after talking the referee yeah like you say it’s it’s
Understandable to feel a little bit deflated obviously after the way it’s gone but like you say to to get out in such a lead against the ring Champions on the first night in the Premiership the there’s so much to to build on from tonight overall isn’t there absolutely
You know you got to you got to turn those negatives into positives you know both I think both teams haven’t had a lot of track time and to go out there and uh show what our capabilities are was pretty inspirational in the first half of this meeting yeah it certainly
Was so like you say you got to take the positives into the the next one which is at foxall Stadium against dip switch on Thursday night everyone saw what they did to Bellevue last week so uh what what are your thoughts going there it’s always a tough track at IP switch and um
We’re not going or thinking that it’s not going to be any different for us so we just got to see what we can do um we’ve had a chat about the maybe the kind of uh setups they need for there and we got to go there and see what it’s
About Sam many thanks for joining us thank you Sam maleno and Simon stead chatting with Ryan guest after Sheffield’s win in a super heat but a technical draw after the uh the 15 Heats of course and the Birmingham bromes claim a point on the board and get their
Accounts open top scorer on the night then was super Reserve rising star for the Birmingham brummies Leon Flint he’s also been chassing with Ryan well Leon Birmingham may have missed out in a super heat tonight but but how proud can the team be of that effort yeah it was a
Great meeting throughout I think we showed a lot of Promise um you know it’s just a shame you know such a good meeting can can be ruined by that but unfortunately that’s what we’re we put up against in Speedway um but yeah we if anything that’s just made us
Hungrier for uh Oxford at home what was the view from the Birmingham side of the pits obviously V have thrown out in that super heat oh well we obviously wasn’t happy um but you know once the the referees made that call you know there’s no change in that but
Uh yeah it’s it’s annoying but what can we do um you know I’m sure fate will decide if we get any kind of good well bad decisions but good for the team in the future which you know hopefully will happen but uh yeah it’s it’s really
Fired us up going to up switch um you know we put up a really good result away at Oxford and you know we can’t be far away from a win so that’s the that’s the ambition going into Thursday like you say up and running with a League points
That’s that’s something you you’ve got to focus on could you believe quite the start you you got off to with those three five ones in the first four races yeah more than more than happy with that I think it’s my believe it’s my fourth
Time on the bike um so yeah I was really happy I mean I was a bit nervous if if I’m being honest as well you know I didn’t really get off to the best start at Oxford and you know I’ve had a good result there and I can only build on
That now and um yeah I mean we’re certainly looking in the right direction and like you’ve mentioned and if switch away on on Thursday night everyone knows their strength of foxall but people RI you off here tonight so U let them do it again on Thursday I guess yeah keep it
Coming it’s only going to fire us more and you know come the end of the season if we if we are there or thereabouts um yeah we’ll we’ll be hopefully proven a lot of people wrong yeah certainly a few heads been turned by that performance by
Birmingham and of course they put up a good fight against Oxford as well so two tough fixtures out of the way for them they got a point on the board a massive turnout as well at Perry bar which is hugely encouraging for uh for all involved with the club as well and long
May that continue let’s here from the Sheffield Tigers star Josh Pickering then who was firmly involved in the action he too has been chatting with Ryan it’s way it goes sometimes uh Birmingham they’re a strong outfit there a lot of new riders in the team they got
Some track specialists in my opinion as well um they’ve got some Gators and they got some people that go out there and and give it everything so um it’s in the past like I got a little bit of a spot for Birmingham um I’ve done quite a few
Guest bookings here and I I do like to see him do well obviously I’d always like to be on the on the winning side when I’m here but um it’s good to see it was a a great turnout tonight and uh it was good close racing it was a a shame
That he like the super heat turned out the way it did um I feel you know no nothing against a ref everyone can call it how they say it but the people that missed out was The Spectators here tonight have have seen four great Riders go at it in the superheat yeah they
Certainly have obviously you have to watch it from uh from the sidelines the other side of the fence like everyone else as well and like you say you could really sense the tension as well in it even though it’s only the second Mee and it still felt like a big heat from
Sheffield’s point of view yeah for sure like we got to 10 or 12 down and um feeli the boys were just trying to work out the setup it’s a it’s a crucial thing around here and um you know the bumes got off to a very good start but
We sort of sort of showed our class and uh you know finish on top where where we did last year so um all Positive Vibes where to get back to olon we’ve had you know two away meetings so far now and um we’re back home on Thursday night and
Hope to have a big crowd there and um you know all the boys can get died in back around home again and I’m just really looking forward to it yeah like you say similarly to that opening meeting at Oxford as well plenty of positives to take from the latter stages
Of this one and like you say it’s important now to to go and show some dominance on Home shell yeah for sure mate um be decent like a number five Tire he’s like goes out gets a zero at Oxford and eat1 gets a zero it’ be good
If he pulled his finger out a bit you know he I think he only managed to get paid 15 tonight so um no look we’re all having fun it’s Smiles on our faces uh steady would have been getting a few gray hairs early on but uh we we done
The business in the end pick up well done to you in the tiger thank you Josh Pickering of the Sheffield tigers and Sheffield Are Back In Action with their first home fixture of the Season hosting the Oxford spes at olon Stadium Thursday evening 7:30 at the start time there in
The row motor oil Premiership the Birmingham brummy also in action as you heard in that interview with Sam maleno they head off to Foxhall to take on quite a strong IP switch side you have to say so that’ll be an interesting one to watch and the Adrian flux Arena first
Home meeting for the kingslin stars who host the Leicester Lions the two sides met last week and Leicester held off a concerted Challenge from Kingsland to record a 4742 home win over the stars in their opening row motor oil Premiership fixture the Lions recovered from conceding a controversial 5 nil in heat
Two with both reserves disqualified and they regained the lead with a 5-1 of their own in the very next race as the visitors suffered their own Misfortune the host maintained a narrow advantage throughout but only made things virtually safe with a 4-2 from impressive debutant Luke Becker who
Scored 11 plus two Drew Kemp in heat 14 as well leaving them with requiring a finisher in the final race Richard Lawson added 11 for the Lions vadam Tarasenko collected 10 plus one for the Stars including a terrific effort to pass Max rck and Ryan Douglas in heat 13
It was a fixture though that wasn’t without incident in a moment we’ll hear from Rob lion but first of all let’s hear from top scorer for the Leicester Lions on his debut for the Lions as well Luke Becker after tonight I’m really looking forward and excited for the
Season um you know it was a good performance and even had some hiccups out there too that cost us some points but overall you know I think uh the team’s really shaping up to get along really good for the SE for the year and um I think that’s really important also
So um all in all I’m happy and hope everybody else is too and top scorer for the uh the Lions tonight on this fixture of course a new team for you new track and but you’ve got a familiarity of a number of the boys that you’ve been
Riding with at wolves over the years so it must sort of seem a little bit like old times exactly you know that’s that’s what I just said back there it’s a it’s a bit strange you know not being at wolves ever since I’ve started riding in England that’s where I’ve been and um
It’s definitely a bit different but um you know I’m feeling feeling just after one meeting at home here and um feel like somewhere it’s I can hopefully get dialed into on on a regular basis and uh yeah keep building from there there was this moment where in one of the Heats
Your bike reared up and you went all the way up versical what were you thinking at that moment didn’t know what to think really uh I wasn’t uh expecting that I was trying to sit back on it and get get a bit of grip coming off the corner on
The inside and uh think I definitely found it so definitely wasn’t planning for that but uh at least we kept it uh back on two wheels after it so can’t go wrong with it and R over the night you got your bottle of champagne there that’s a good way to start yeah exactly
Uh and in front of Greg as well Greg hanock over watching tonight as well yeah yeah know it’s awesome to have him here he’s uh not even just helping me he’s helping everybody else in the team too which is great and um you know he’s been there done that with a lot of
Different things so somebody to listen to and I think he can be massive help for not only myself but everybody else too awesome job tonight well done luk thank you so it wasn’t a fixture without drama there were a couple of particular incidents that were talking points heat
Two both of the home Riders were excluded uh in the close stages of that which gave it a 5 n to the Kingsland stars and then in heat three after the starts there’s a poll that was in the middle of the track that was there to stop the tapes from blowing around it
Wasn’t removed after the tapes had gone and the Riders had headed off it remained on the track for a couple of laps the referee didn’t spot it the race continued but Michael ptof pulled up and was remonstrating with the track staff and of course the referee as well so uh
Rob lion speaking afterwards he picks up on those points yeah I mean heat three was poor really you know the the situation with initially I thought there was a light come on obviously it was the tight the clock but it’s a bit deceiving we stood up here and bit difficult but that
Was one issue but then the main issue was the uh the pole you know the referee didn’t see it uh could have caused a serious injury and um that’s why P to basically retired from the race um so that that was a bit disappointing if I’m
Honest um but you know apart from that really pleased with the performance of the boys as a team they all had their moments uh gate for was was working particularly well tonight and as you saw everybody had good good races off gate for of the majority did um so I’m happy
With it as a team um and Five Points he not insurmountable to take back to Kingson and get try and get the bonus next week Starman for you I think Tarasenko who got better and better and and involved in the ride of the night uh
As well in the heat 13 I think it was yeah terrific ride you know to to pass Riders of the quality of maxick and obviously Ryan Douglas it’s no slou G it was a terrific ride and he had the bit between his teeth in that one didn’t he
Um and it was a no Bri to put him in 15 off go four so we were looking to get the win as a minimum um and get three points to to keep it you know respectable and keep it within a sort of a a deficit that we feel is is
Achievable to get the moments and when you look at some of the other results this evening um big win for hip switch Oxford have have beaten Sheffield so the the margin of of the defeat for you though as you say it keeps it tight for the uh for the bonus point and that’s
You know a realistic possibility now yeah it is that’s what I I’ve said it since the start of the Season you know the bonus points are going to be key there there six at least six strong teams in this league and they their home
Form is is I would say is going to be tough to to you know to beat you are going to get some away Way wins obviously but U bonus points are going to be key I think we can keep picking them up against each team then we’re going to be
There thereabouts it ended 4742 so just the Five Points in it for when the two sides meet again Thursday March 28 7:30 the start time for that one uh as the Kingsland Stars host Leicester in their very first fixture of the Season at the Adrien flux Arena the other fixtures
Then for Thursday it’s the ipswitch witches versus Birmingham brummies and Sheffield Tigers versus Oxford sp there was one other fixture last Thursday that was ipswitch versus Bellevue and the witch is overcame the absence of former world champion Jason Doyle to defeat Belleview 5139 in a strong opening night
Performance at foxall Doyle missing due to personal reasons but the witch has still got off to a winning start in the row motor oil Premiership pulling clear after the scores had been level for the first six races Emil SII fenov and Danny King both scored paid 13 whilst Adam
Ellis enjoyed a successful debut with s plus one after finishing last in his first heat the aces scoring was dominated by ski Brady CTS Mike Boswell caught up with the team manager of the witches Richie Hawkins and Brady CTS after The Clash so Richie first match
Out of the way uh wasn’t a bad match for the witches no yeah really really happy um tough tough night tricky tricky time we’ we’ve dealt with everything really well and to get get the win on at night um and then to end up with 12 points is
He’s yeah yeah very happy with that and you know looking at the start look if obviously bellw um coming into I mean they must have wished oh dol’s not here so we could get the win but certainly Scotty came in seemed to do the business tonight and what about the new boys
What’s your thoughts on them yeah I mean obviously like opening night for them as well to be away from him they got a bit bit of a free hit really because they and it’s a good chance to catch a team cold and um yeah they certainly started
The meeting strong um but yeah we were a little bit Rusty to start with but the boys changed a few things and certainly improved during the meeting so yeah Jordan and Adam um their first rides wasn’t that great but they they both both made changes and and got better throughout the meeting
Which really from from your new riders coming in that’s what you can hope for and I uh yeah it’s uh yeah very happy and then just focus back on the captain this evening Danny I mean it got to be a absolute Class Act I spoke to him
Earlier on but know him against boly that was a fantastic race him holding it off yeah like Danny can sometimes start the season slowly and then takes a little bit to work into it but tonight start really really really well so heat 15 brilliant great to see him in heat 15
And perform like that and beat like they’re two of the best Riders you’re going to see here this year so yeah to to get to get a win over them it’s good for him that’ be a confidence boots and uh promis him for the season to come so
Just here with Brady CS Brady uh didn’t quite go the aces away tonight no I’m uh I don’t actually know what the score is but uh yeah wasn’t to be it’s IP switch is a tough track and uh we’ve got a couple of new riders in the team who probably haven’t settled
Just yet and uh yeah it’s early doors you know some guys have only been on the track once before tonight and uh yeah there’s no there’s no excuse ever for losing a match but uh it’s only the first one of the year and I’m sure we’ll be fine absolutely and you certainly
Seem to enjoy it I mean looking at your scool L tonight it was a good night for you yeah I actually kind of don’t mind ITP switch I generally go pretty decent here and uh yeah it wasn’t a bad one for me the first couple of Heats were good
And then uh the last two were tough it’s always hard when you come up against off gate one there’s not a whole lot you can do around here but uh no I’m I’m happy with a decent night cool all right thanks for CH the Easter weekend is just
Around the corner now and looking ahead to bank holiday Monday the 1st of April and there are a few fixtures taking place there as well in the uh Premiership knockout cup quarterfinal two fixtures one at lunchtime at the National Speedway Stadium where it’s the bellev Aces versus The Sheffield tigers
And then in the evening uh at the pidcock motorcycles Arena it’s Leicester Lions versus IP switch witches both of those in the Premiership knockout cup that’s the quarterfinal first leg and one fixture in the row motor oil Premiership and that is at Perry bar as the Birmingham brummies host Oxford spes
And that one of course fairly close as well after the the first encounter so Birmingham very much got their eye on the bonus point in that one and gets underway at Perry bar at 7:30 and that really takes care of things for the next week or so in the R motor oil
Premiership and in the Premiership knockout cup in the next part of no breaks no fear we turn our attention to the cabir championship and the BSN series gets underway as well a flurry of activity over the Easter weekend not least for workington comets Who start off with three fixtures in three days
Starting big we’ll hear from team manager of the workington comments James denim in the next part of no breaks no fear no breaks no fear the official British Speedway podcast and don’t forget to like And subscribe to this podcast and whichever app you choose to use to listen to us on
Whether that’s Apple podcasts or Spotify or indeed YouTube or something else uh whatever it might be usually they got a follow or subscribe button or or whatever it is just do that it’s totally free and uh all it means is you will get any new episodes sort of pointed out to
You as soon as they arrive and they will be arriving every week through the course of the speedway season the speedway season so far has focused largely on the top tier of Speedway in this first couple of weeks but the championship is back and it kicks off
With action uh not only uh in the cab direct Championship but it’s the BSN series as well and the pool Pirates are the holders of that tournament and they’re in action on the very first day of it as we get towards the Easter weekend on Good Good Friday the holders
Begin their defense against the Oxford cheaters but the side that we’re really putting in the spotlight today are the workington Comets a lot has been made of their comeback of course last year in the National League and this year stepping back up to Championship level which is a division they last contested
In 2018 when they won the treble that year and then were unable to defend any of their titles but the workington Comets are back and they’ll be heading to the Eddie Raceway to face the skunthorp scorpions in their first meaningful fixture I’m delighted to say that the team manager of the workington
Comics James denim is with us in this section of the podcast and James it must feel very real now that time’s coming closer A lot’s been said you’ve made your choices on the team and all the preparations have been done and uh now you’re soon to find out how your team
Stands up yeah definitely can’t wait to get going press practice is always one of the better better days brilliant way to start the season um see all the the guys there but yeah head to weekend um really some good challenging fixtures for us um Friday Saturday and Sunday and
So hopefully we can um see what we can do and and pick some points up tell us about stepping back up to this level because I think maybe people were surprised that you uh came up to the championship so quickly I know that was the ultimate um sort of end game um but
Only one year in the National League of course the national League’s taking on a bit of a different complexion but getting back into the championship which is a league that it’s uh workington is synonymous with a brave decision but I think I think ultimately it’s going to
Be the right one because people are going to love seeing workington race and and the standard of Ridder you’re going to be attracting there week in week out is going to be on a different level as well isn’t it yeah definitely I think it’s a year sooner than we originally
Wanted to um but we’re here now um we’re ready to go and Andrew’s done a fantastic job um with the um the DT TI Arena um and also putting TI together I mean we’re on the the back foot to start with most teams had already um compiled
Their teams um so we had to think outside the box and look at how we can build our asset B base for the future um and I think we’ve done that we decided we put together and we’ve got some experience in there with the three guys there and we’ve got obviously Sam who
Rode last year does have some experience over here um obviously in the lower league but the the three newcomers to British Speedway um I mean they look fantastic over the weekend and they’re really detered to get going and and they want to make it in the British feedway
And also on the international stage yeah you just talk through your team for people listening to this who aren’t aware of exactly who you’ve signed um you’ve got that mixture of Youth and experience the experience of course with Craig cook and Troy Bachelor um Sam mcer
As you mentioned rode for you last year so he’s got experience of of the circuit Tate zishi anti vulas Selena Lieberman and then your latest signing clouse vissing so some well-known names there but also some names that certainly have caught the attention of fans over the
Course of the winter or maybe the last couple of winters anti vas of course uh had an epic performance in the World Cup Tate zishi has been a name that’s been talked about and has uh certainly been involved with the likes of Darcy Ward and and comes with his backing and then
Selena lebman everyone knows about because she’s caught the headlines wherever she’s gone and interesting signing for her and and and you must be encouraged to see how she went at the Peter Craven meeting her first proper meeting in Speedway to be to be holding
It you know not off the pace with uh you know frankly some of the you know world world class or extra Lea level Talent yeah definitely Selena’s uh she’s well determined she’s a bundle of energy um she’s really fantastic she’s got a great Style on the bike um and she really
Wants to progress um she’s done fantastic I watched the Peter Craven um on BSN um the other night and me the last two rides she was well on Pace and in a pretty stacked field so she mean she’s done fantastic she deserves a chance in British Speedway um so we’ll
Give her that chance and and hopefully she can prove um people wrong the two other new B me an vas is um he’s shown what you can do on the world stage he was obviously the second highest average rider in the Polish R 24 League last year um he’s really professional he
Really wants to to make it over here and he’s he wants them Premiership teams knocking on his door um and that’s what he wants he’s he’s left Finland to come over here with all his gear and his brother his brother’s going to be the uh he’s mechanic all year so he’s really
Committed in the family of Shan they put everything into Ane and Tate well he he looks he he was flying at the weekend he’s he’s got a really nice style very similar to Dan Bui um he’s his frame his his stature and how he rides the bike um
He takes all um all his footage of practice and sends it back to Dary so Darcy’s helping him even though he’s halfway across the world and he’s got a long long future in the spot and but we’ve got to remember these guys haven’t seen these tracks over here the setups
Are different the jet in’s different um the Shale they need to just settle in it’s a long season the season isn’t won in the first few weeks it’s it’s won towards middle of the Year towards the end of the year so they’ll be knocking on the doors Sam has discussed we give
Him a chance he he impressed us last year he come Leaps and Bounds and he’s he’s only 18 so we’ll see what he can do and and he’s really it’s a learning for him um and we just want to try and help him progress to that next level and
Where he needs to be in terms of clouse he he’s mean he’s been around he’s he’s R for us before and workington he knows he knows what we’re we’re trying to do um and I think he’ll fly around um our track and he’s got that experience on
The other tracks he can ride the smaller tracks um Troy and cookie I mean they’ve both Road at the highest level um in international stage um tro really good um he I think he’s well capable of progressing this year I mean increasing his average and I think the all line that’s what we
Built a team on and I think he mean his gating is is his his strength and that’s what we need and we we lacked that last year even though it was the the league below we were struggling out the gates and it it was tough around our place um
Considering that and then cookie he’s back home um 10 15 minutes away from his his house it’s probably what he needs he’s we all know what he can do on a bike and I certainly know what he can do and we’re going to support him make sure
He gets what he needs and I think he could be the one want really the top of the top of the averages this year and and that’s what we want and and if all these guys can improve on average on paper then I can’t see why we can’t be
Um knocking on the in the top four what what has been like sort of getting these Riders to come and sign for workington um because the there’s a couple of things I suppose workington is is not exactly handy for its international airports although is the airport at at
Carlile of course which I don’t know they can jet in and out of in the private jets maybe um but um you know it is out a little bit in the sticks with the best will um but but also your race night you know or race day really you’re
Racing Day times on Saturdays that tends to put a bit of pressure on um availability because some Riders want to keep weekends free so how how has it been navigating that it’s it’s been really tough um obviously the Polish fixtures on a Sunday it’s really hard
For Riders to leave Cumbria and get to a a Lo well an airport which is usually down south or up in Scotland um to fly out um into into Poland to to be ready to race there we we just the track I mean where we are it’s picturesque we’ve
Got OB leg District everyone will travel through there when they come to the meetings and then we’re out on the beach as well and I mean Tate loves it Tate thinks it’s fantastic um I think anony hasn’t seen anything like it before and and he has really been tough and that’s
Why we’ we were quite we we struggled to get the last Rider we need to make sure I mean everything was right we wanted the right person for the team someone who’s going to progress andan we were discuss speaking to clous from I mean December onwards as well as a few more
Riders we just wanted to make sure we get the right fit but yeah the inter it really is hard for us me the nearest airport is probably Newcastle but they have limited flights to Poland and into Europe and I think Manchester is the probably closest one but it’s all timings and
Yeah we’ve mean we’ve got that team we’ve got our team now we’re really happy with it and um I mean all the Riders are committed I mean back me tro is even mean he’s coming from um down in Cambridge so it’s it’s a long way for him um that’s the longest me Journey
That we’ve got but he’s um I mean he’s really Keen he’s enjoying it he’s coming see the track on on on Saturday and he rode and he loved it and that’s what we want we want to put on mean want to make sure all the Riders enjoy being here and
We get the best out of them I know that from speaking to Tate and antie and Selena at the um British Speedway media day last week we did a little bit of an interview with with all three of them um the one of the things that they liked
About the the offer from workington was the ability to be able to go and ride whenever you know like access to the track as much as possible and get the laps in and I think that for them has been a big pull which maybe you that’s an advantage that you have that some
Other clubs don’t have definitely and that’s what we want we want to try and open every day of the week week when when we can um we we wanted a few more track higher days this year as well to help the club with financial circumstances but we needed to get ready
For the Ben fund sadly that was that was called off but yeah I mean these guys need track time especially if the riding in one league and it is really tough you need to be on your bike all the time um keep sharp especially in in June July
We’ve got a limited amount of fixures at the minute but in them periods of time we need to make sure we’re using that track and we’re getting plenty of laps in before the start of the Season as well because I mean a lot of these Riders who were were round against this
Year haven’t been which is really really good thing for us um so we need to make sure we take that to Advantage and and get some home track Advantage which will will be tough um this year and we found that tough last year as well on the
Subject of of Cl Ving just to go back to that um obviously you know the fans were maybe getting a bit edgy wondering where that that final signing was going to be confirmed what was it sort of a case of you just waiting to as you say sure that
That was the right decision or did it did it take a little bit more effort sort of really get Riders into to nail themselves down and and and guarantee that they were going to put everything in for riding for for workington in the future what was the the discussion
Behind that yeah I think it was I mean a bit of both we want to make sure the deal was right for the club but also the rider I mean I’ve been on the rider side of things with mean helping few Riders out and know how expensive it is and
They need to make sure it’s worthwhile um but we have a business plan we’ve got to operate too um and we’ve got to make sure that that’s that’s the case um we we did try a few english-based Riders to make it cheaper for the club um however
That that didn’t didn’t work out due to mean polish fixtures Etc um but we got clous we’re really happy with clous and I mean he’s average is pretty much a bargain he was one of the first guys we we contacted for that last place but did
Did take a while to to mean agree terms but we’ve we basically met in the middle and we’re we’re happy with what what we’ve got and um we’ll see we’ll see how that pans out through the season but clous is committed klous wants to ride over here um he wasn’t huming and hour
And he definitely wanted to ride and and that’s the commitment we wanted and we we were really impressed with with close and mean took a while but we’re there and the fans have waited a while but I think that signing is the the right one
For us is there a danger with any of your riders that they’re you know they they’ve got any commitments coming up in Poland that that their availability might change you know as the season gets going and maybe injuries come into other sides these Riders are going to get
Called in is that something that you’ve discussed something you’ve planned for or something you think that um isn’t going to be an issue I think the Riders we have um are committed to us and I don’t think they’ve got any plans um for polish at the weekend then Tate zishi
He’s riding the 24 league with Selena and that’s through the week so that will have very limited impact um clous obviously rides in Denmark he doesn’t ride in in the Polish League weekend um and and I think cookie and Troy just want to ride over here and and just
Focus over here I know Sam mcer did have hot offers for the under 24 league but I mean it’s he believed it wasn’t the right time at this current um point to do that um and I think that’s a right decision he’s got two leagues this year
And that’s what he needs to focus on and master them and I think a lot of riders do need to master the championship I think a lot of the English guys it’s they should make it the that should be the bread and butter that should be what
They need to to keep them going and we need that commitment from these guys to ensure that I mean they’re getting the best out of it and once they have progressed and they think they can’t get any further in the championship then that is time to move on and we’ve seen
That with the likes of Dan and what Dan has done across the continent and what he’s doing on the international stage now you start off against the skunthorp Scorpions not the easiest tracks to go to for for many but maybe some similarities with your home circuit so
For for the newcomers likes of Tate and and Selena and so on who have been practicing uh in workington maybe there might be some similarity there also can you talk us through the riding order as well how are you how are you going to be lining your team up in that fixture
Against skun thop yes I think mean as you said skun thop is similar shape to ours um it rides maybe slightly different but I mean it isn’t one of the hardest tracks to to ride um I think we’ll be quite comfortable with these European guys you don’t have to turn as
Tight around there but they need to figure out the lines quite quickly um and that’s why we’ve we’ve chose to put um Ian we put closer to um just to give anti and Tate a bit more time to see the track we get two more extra races just
To see what how that pans out and that’ll be the same for Beric as well but obviously I mean we’ve got Troy at five um we’ve got Selen at at seven and and Sam at six um and then 19 title be um three and four respectively um but
That’s the only reason we may change things around once we get into the season but we need to make sure these guys get as much experience um as they can at these tracks early on and I think it is really unfair to put these out in heat one against um obviously I mean
Especially Kyle howth around skunthorp he’s he’s quick he’s he’s no slouching um we just need to make sure they pick as much experience up watching from the sidelines in their first two races and then you head to Beric on Saturday night and this is the Border trophy which is a
Bit more of a you know preseason friendly I suppose but good to renew that connection and and dare I say a bit of rivalry with with the with the Beric Bandits there’s not too many sides up north these days unfortunately and you’ve got the access to the the
Scottish clubs but of course red car and and Beric uh previously have have you know had good relationships with with workington and the fans of both sides have enjoyed going to the the respective venue so you’re at Beric on Saturday night and then it’s Beric back at yours
On Easter Sunday no definitely and we went to Beric last year I think was the only way meeting we won in National development league so we have got some good memories there and um it is always good to go across to to Beric um and get
The fans across to our place as well but I mean Selena yeah she should be fine um antie I think he’ll enjoy it as well it’s it’s something he’ll be he’ll be used to um with the big long straights on there and I think Tate will be used
To that as well so I think our first fixes do suit us with our inexperience but I mean everyone knows baric just need to get out the gate and um get a bit of fresh air and um and I mean it’s pretty much job done um but I mean lik
Of cookie cookie goes well around there and and where batch was um where batch can gate I think we won’t have any issues and especially clous you got remember he he used to ride there so um I think we’re really we set up well and
It’ll be a really good um be really good warm meeting really for us um be nice to come up with some silverware but it’s it’s really to just get these guys to to find the feet um see what they can do do get the sets right for the for the
League fixture and then after that into April it’s a busy April certainly a busy April for uh for workington and red car because you’re facing each other three times uh through the course of April due to the Quirk that uh you’re racing each other in the BSN Series in the same
Group and then you’ve drawn red car in The Knockout cup as well so you’ve be getting well acquainted with the red car bears and the skunthorp Scorpions um in the BSN series too so you know lot it’s good though I think local Derbies you to
Get things uh moving to get the fans in there as well to get you started and then you’ll be uh heading further a field once you get into May no definitely and I think the tracks TR I mean the red car track is fantastic race
Track and it’ll I mean I said it’ll suit our team down again and I think riding that track three times this year I mean is good and we can progress through I mean each each match as it it comes along but as I said M red car I’ve got a
Strong team they’ve got obviously Connor we had last year and he he does fly around our placees a track record aler and I mean Charles has even he’s had a practice and the other week and he loved it he he said it was probably one of the
Best tracks he’s ever ridden U reminds him similar Summer Set so I mean that will be a really tough fixture for us um they’ll go well around our place but I’m sure we’ll go well around their place but it’s fantastic to get back to Red c
Car um it’s it’ be really good for the fans across the a60 six um and it’s not far the the Derby matches are the best matches um and I think we’ve seen that in the um Premiership with um bie and Sheffield that was I mean that’s always
Been a good in the past few years and that’s what we want we want something similar and I think we’ll get that this year and for uh any fans who are unable to to get there in person you can see action at the GT tires Arena if you’ve
Not seen action there before workington versus scunthorp will be live on BSN and I think I think as well the week after uh the Friday the 12th of April red car versus workington is also on BSN in the BSN Series so a couple of chances to see
Workingon in action Home and Away there in those fixtures in April uh finally James for you what what’s you know what’s a what’s a good season look like what’s the Hope in this first season back at Championship level for workingon um I think just to may push onto that
Top FL far and I don’t think there’s any reason why we can’t do that I mean we had a good team on paper last year but obviously that didn’t happen I mean that’s that’s Speedway it’s um we build the team with risk but if you don’t have
Any risk then you don’t get any rewards so that’s the plan we’ll push on there take every match as it comes and that’s what we’ve got to do we can’t just look towards the end of season right away we just need to take one match at a time
Build on that build the confidence and and help these new guys settle into British Speedway and I think with likes of cookie clous and um bat I think they can help that we’ve already seen that press day them offering advice and help to to these guys and I think we’ve got a
Brilliant dynamic as a team and and that’s what we need and that’s what we’re aim for but I mean for those fans you mean get yourself to the GT ties Arena you you mean you won’t you’re missing out if you don’t come it’s it’s a fantastic RAC trck and I’m really
Excited watching Press day the level of I mean the level difference between the championship and National League it’s it is going to be crazy I think the track last year I mean the lines that the the Riders were pulling were probably won’t weren’t w be as good as what we we’ll
Have this year some of the lines we we’ve seen at press day is crazy so we’ll um we’ll see a really high quality of racing this year and and that’s what we want for British beard where we want the best racing for them fans and then
We can entice these new fans to come to the spot it was a shame about the Ben fund being rained off um hopefully get that reorganized later in the season because obviously it’s a a massive importance to the Ben fund not least as well as uh you know for workington to be
Able to host such a prestigious event but it would have been great to see buy flying around there in Anger wouldn’t it but we are going to see some top level Riders you know coming to the to the GT tires arena for the first time and as
You say you are going to see a different um a different way to ride the track maybe from some of these riders coming who you know in your own ranks you got former Grand Prix riders in there but there’s many others who are going to be
Coming along to uh to give it a try and as you mentioned there like Charles Wright um Danny King You’ve Got the you know the Cook Brothers coming Richard Lawson it’s going to be interesting to see how they how they tackle it I think everyone will love it and I think that’s
Our biggest downfall and there’s very little home track Advantage um that it’s a proper RAC track and there there’s plenty of lines there there’s plenty of lines to mean to race on it you can you can make moves and you can get away with it if it does go wrong um there’s plenty
Of space but we do need to try and get that home track advantage in there and I think the track will be prepared maybe slightly different maybe a little bit more dirt on this year and but we’ll wait and see but the guys will love it there’ll be some really good racing
Round there but we just need to make it into a fortress and that will be our plan this year awesome well look um Good Luck for that first home fixture when it comes round and uh and of course your first away fixture in the BSN series
Which is on on Good Friday against the skunthorp Scorpions it’s a 5:30 start there I think skunthorp are doing a live stream if uh you’re unable to make it in person but it’ be interesting to see and a lot of people we watching closely to
See uh see how things go and uh I got to know you try and win back your ti from 2018 that’s the plan if we come in the mall that’ be brilliant but um he look what look what happened then there’s nothing um people are ruling us out but
The r is out in 2018 so we’ll see what we can do and we’ll see how the first few matches pan out awesome thanks a lot James and all the best Thanks James Denham team manager of workington comets now he’s going to be facing up against the skunthorp scorpions in their very
First fixture on Good Friday and we can also hear now from the new team manager of the scunthorp scorpions a well-known name in British Speedway over the years David how takes the Reigns of the scorpions in 20124 and he’s been talking about the season ahead with Ryan guest
See first and foremost David obviously uh going to be a new experience for you this year as as team manager how are you looking forward to that yeah I’m looking forward to it uh obviously I wouldn’t have accepted it uh if not I’m not say 100% know you know what I’m what I’m
Doing yet I’m not there for my Tactical genius I suppose but uh yeah that that that that will come with experience um and you my my initial job is helping the guys improve doing doing kind of what I’ve done with Ryan but with seven um and hopefully you know getting the best
Out of them all probably couldn’t have come with a better club either obviously having spent so many seasons there as a rider then like you say mechanic in with Ryan Douglas in the last few years as well so the ideal Club to to start a new role with yeah well
It obviously when I retired in initially uh I obviously disappeared from from scunthorp and then I went obviously WOTE for Beric and uh um then I come back with dougy it’s kind of it felt like putting an old comfy pair of shoes on you know and when I knew Ryan was
Stepping down I just said to Rob look I don’t want to drift away from the club uh again I want to remain part of it and within 10 minutes he just text me back and said oh your team manager then and it was just like that and I I I said
Well I really need to go and have a chat to my wife and make sure you cuz I’ve gone from being exceptionally busy with Ryan to to to looking like I was going to have a lot more time on my hands with the family but they were all supportive
And uh so it was just a no-brainer from skor’s point of view obviously it was a tremendous season last season obviously the uh the playoffs and what they nearly achieved there but obviously finally getting some silver way back to the club was a massive Turning Point as well yeah
I think so it’s kind of almost almost got to change the the identity of the club and how they see themselves we’ve always been that you know middle middle of table team sometimes scrapes in the playoffs does well at home loses the odd match you know and does what it does
Away um and I feel it’s time to change that attitude um if you you you think like a winner and you walk like a winner and you act like a winner you’re more likely to be a winner so hopefully we can drum that into the boys uh and you
Know the the five the the five who were in it last year remember that feeling from winning The Knockout cup Kyle obviously had that feeling winning with Sheffield and uh yes I want them to remember that and strive for more you mentioned those five members coming back
As well is that sense of familiarity going to going to be key for SK talk do you think this year I think so yeah um obviously it helps me that I know them um because I’m not the kind of mechanic either just sticks with Ryan I float
Around and help as much as I can um and I I I think having after the injuries that Michael suffered last year I think it’s a no-brainer to you don’t want to let him go to somewhere else on his on his average and you know uh and somebody
Else root the benefits so the the five know each other there’s uh and obviously Kyle’s been around and around scfi for a lot Luke’s grow grown up there there’s no there’s no um massive egos in that team I think we’re all pull wanting the same thing and pulling in the same
Direction obviously Doug is a massive loss to to skun he would be to to any team at that level do do you think he has got big boots to fill but do you think Kyle’s more than capable of fulfilling that role in that in that League obviously losing the number one
In the the averages is always hard but the way the um the team average was cut it’s almost almost a like for likee swap but I want Kyle to remember he’s Kyle Howard he’s not Ryan Douglas he’s Ryan at gunthor is you know he’s a um
He’s you know he’s he’s a he’s a legend second I’m now the second best number one they’ve ever had um but but I want Kyle’s there to do Kyle’s job you know if he rides to hand we know he can and uh what he brings to the team in the
Pits more than do his job Luke Harrison had some Championship experience last year as well so obviously it’s not like he’s coming in totally fresh but uh what do what do you think he can he can do in this team Luke’s the one I know least
About actually I mean I I kind of um through Ryan helped him quite a bit when he was um more of a junior I gave him quite a lot of parts but but that was all for his dad so I’ve not actually got that much I’ve got to know him a little
Bit over the winter um but I know he’s very hungry very keen um wants to make a career out of being a spe Rider he’s not there to make the numbers up and I know he’s been working this winter so that’s always an incentive to realize that
Riding a motorbike is is more fun than going scaffolding or building or whatever so so I think he’s um he hasn’t got anything to prove to us he’ll be given the time he’ll be given the help uh and um if he’s if he’s got his eyes
And ears open it will be a lot better ride at the end of the year yeah and just finally you’ve mentioned changing the the mentality also almost of the club as well when you look at the rest of the championship as a product and and the teams you’re going to be going up
Against what what do you think is realistic this season no no reason why we can’t uh be one of the strongest teams um there’s there’s a couple of teams out there that look like you know they’ve got some very good reserves um but I believe over the
Season our reserves will you know you saw Nathan last year when he when he joined us I think his first match was a baric uh to the Nathan we got midseason it was night and day I expect more of him uh and the top five we’ve got um is
I think is in depth as good as any any any team um but every team is going to the um into the start of the Season saying I want to be League champion I want to you know every every Rider goes to the start line going I want to win
The race but there’s three other Riders who are saying the same thing so I’ve got to find the key to unlock in their belief and they can you know do be the best versions of themselves and if they are we’ll be there in the end David how former peterb Thundercats with the likes
Of Simon stead and O Al can he following their managerial footsteps we’ll find out soon as the skunthorp Scorpions get underway Friday March 29th Good Friday against the workington Comets 5:30 the start time for that one another team in action on Good Friday are the pool Pirates the defending champions of the
BSN series from 2023 they open their accounts with near neighbors I guess you could say the Oxford cheaters pool versus Oxford a big local Derby to get things started at wimbor Road on Friday night and one of Paul’s new signings is one of the upcoming stars of British
Speedway Sam Hagen has been speaking ahead of the new season Championship level with Ryan guest well Sam Hagen obviously with Birmingham stepping up into the the Premiership needed a change of scenery in the championship and you found yourself at P which uh for for
Them to give you a call must have been a big confidence boost in itself yeah definitely I spoke with Matt during the season a little bit and uh he we both I was Keen to go to porn he was Keen to have me so and and then yeah we spoke at
The end the season um and yeah they kind of it still was done very quickly I think it was done on a day so I think it was um yeah like you say Paul’s also a very good club to be at and I think that hopefully I can learn there and see what
We can do there quite a young team they’ve got there this year but nevertheless one that looks more than capable of of getting that silverware that they want back yeah definitely we are strong from 1 to seven it’s just obviously I’m experienced a little bit but not experienced enough and you got
Max Perry and at Tobias and you got a couple of others who are obviously younger than what they’ve previously used but uh no we got potential if we just start start good and sort of use what we can do in me track time which
We’re going to do next week so if we get used to it then we can just keep pushing and see where we we can win a league easily not easily but we can win it with the team we got the vibe so hopefully we can go and do that let you say track
Time essential um in that in the second here it’s a bit easier because yes you want to go out and win everything that’s up for grabs but you start with the BSN series against and that’s going to be an interesting way to get the season up and running at winborne road yeah definitely
I think um obviously Oxford are very very strong they’ve got similar teams last year I think they have so uh it’s going to be different and the league structur has obviously changed a lot but I think it’s good for British P to bring the kids through they obviously weaken
The national league and to weaken the championship but it’s a good stepping stone to move into the top league so I think that’s that should benefit everyone and yeah hopefully we can do good KN meetings and uh see what we can do there let you say for yourself
Important to still have a team spot at that level as well cuz let you say Birmingham gave you an opportunity and uh you were happy with the way you ticked away as the as the weeks went by yeah definitely towards the end of this just sort of season I felt I was going
Really good and obiously got injured which was unfortunate it was a bit of a strange injury as well and uh no I think um to be at pool is a great place and to be in the league still given a chance I had a couple of others which has kind of
Shocked me a little bit CU I thought I did good but not enough enough that people saw um and when I had a couple offers I was kind of happy myself I was injured so it was all a bit down anyway so that kind of brought me up and then
Obviously Australia and that just everything just kind of went into one and all kind of clicked a word on your winter as well obviously um a massive experience not only from the speedway side but obviously the the personal life and and maturing in that sense being out
In Australia how did you find it all out there yeah it’s really good it’s it’s one of the best things I’ve ever done and uh I think it’s something everyone if they have a chance to do they should do um it I grew up so much as sort of it
Was more mature the last sort of year being the championship as well and being on your own help sort of thing like you learn yourself you sort of learn in the natural sort of habitat and you don’t rely on anyone that you always have done so it’s uh it’s definitely a great thing
And I me yeah I was riding a lot in Australia felt like feels good to come back to sort of now and not having to break off and it’s uh definitely something I I want to do next few years and um sort of see where it benefits me
So I think that’s it benefited Me Maybe it doesn’t benefit others but for me definitely something I want to do so there is Sam Hagen and uh Paul get underway uh with with two fixtures in two days themselves actually because they’re racing against the Oxford cheaters on Good Friday and then on
Easter Saturday the 30th of March they’re going to be heading to Plymouth to the Coliseum to take on the Gladiators in the BSN series series there uh bit of news from Plymouth they have been granted a facility to cover for the absence of nio kavati um this
Has been approved it has to be done at the discretion the actual rule is uh rule 01 0.5p and uh here it is that um teams that have been approved Riders have been approved in teams declared 1 to 7 at the start of the season but due to extenuating circumstances are not
Available a for facility may be granted up to a maximum of 28 days at the SCB coordinator’s discretion so this has been granted for Plymouth they do have a facility to cover for niiko kavati for 28 days and uh no doubt by the time you hear this you might have further info as
To who will be covering for niiko kavati so they don’t need to sign a rider they have a facility to cover for him for the time being hopefully he will be back though one other fixture on Good Friday is at the echo Arena red car take on a Newcastle diamonds select it’s the
Regular red car side up against aside put together to keep the name of the Newcastle diamonds going and uh it’s a decent lineup you have to say Steve warl Alfie boel Ben Barker Paul Stark Louie Kerr Max CLE and Danny Phillips I think all have represented Newcastle at some
Point in their careers so that’s a decent lineup on Friday at red car for their pre-season taste the tin teas trophy 7:30 in the evening the start time there looking ahead to the other fixtures over the bank Hol weekend then in the championship we’ve got um well BSN series Plymouth Gladiators up
Against the pool Pirates that’s a 7:00 start on Saturday at the Coliseum uh also on Saturday the Beric Bandits against workington comets as we previously heard with James in the Border Trophy and then uh just less than 24 hours later back at workington the GT tires Arena hosting its first fixture of
2024 workington comets against Beric Bandits and then on Easter Monday it’s um action largely focused on Premiership so nothing happening at Championship level on the Monday but so we’ve talked about those fixtures already uh bellw against Sheffield Birmingham against the Oxford spies and the Leicester lions against the up switch witches all
Premiership action and then the next BSN series action will be the following Wednesday April the 3D when it’s um The Return of that opening fixture for the pool Pirates as pool travel to Oxford and the cheaters against the Pirates we’ll have a look at everything else that’s happening as the the series
Really gets underway the BSN series the following weekend with a heap of fixtures on the Friday Saturday and also in the Sunday as well as we head through the following weekend in the next part of no breaks no fear something a little bit different for you um we’ve had this
Big um Premiership media day uh at the National Speedway station Stadium which you may have seen coverage of and one of the things that we did there we set up a little podcast station uh largely for Riders to come and have a chat if if they felt that they needed to share
Anything and Mike Boswell who has been a regular contributor to this podcast over the time was Manning that station and he spoke to a number of riders and first up we will speak to Jack holder and the reason we picking Jack holder first is it’s fairly time specific he talks about
Being an impending dad so if we leave it for a few week weeks it might be old news but Jack holder is our first contestant I think we’ll call the feature Mike meets because it’s Mike and he meets lots of people and uh some share more than others and Jack holder
Is first up so we’ll hear Mike with Jack in the next part of no breaks no Fear no breaks no fear the official British Speedway podcast so in this final part something different a Chan for you to get to know some of British Speedways top Stars better we had the row motor oil Premiership media day last week at the National Speedway stadium
And um all of the the premierships top stars were in attendance um pretty much and um so we set up a bit of a podcast area and it was very much a let’s see who we can entice across and and if anybody did come along for a chat with
Mike then he had his questions ready and he was poised and boy did they did they come to the the podcast station we’ve got a lot a lot of interviews to bring you so I’m going to just stick them in the podcast when we’ve got space for
Them and let’s start off with this one Jack holder of course one of world Speedways top stars came along for a chat with uh with Mike Boswell and here is your chance to get to know Jack holder a little bit better as Mike meets Jack start off with a simple one name
Jack holder occupation professional Speedway Rider first time on a Speedway bike um I think I was around about 9 years old I think I was whereabouts did you you take that first experience uh back home in Australia at ssby Speedway dir track Speedway yeah mhm and sort of
People who have helped you with your career so far um of course you know my family mom and dad um my two brothers James and Chris uh that’s pretty much it and sort of you know as you’ve as you’ve uh gone through Speedway what do you think are
The best things about Speedway uh definitely you know like the sliding around the corners and you know having no breaks um definitely a cool feeling you know when you’re a kid you had the push bikes and you know you’d ride down the street and do a big brake slide and
You know slide around the corner and yeah you now you do it with no breaks and um yeah that’s definitely probably the coolest feeling and sort of you know if if we were to ask Jack hold’s friends how would they describe you cool guy um pretty fiery that’s yeah that’s pretty
Up there I think everyone knows that but um yeah I’m just so passionate about the sport so this is what I like to do lots of Australian talent coming out Talent around the world and and as an individual who gets to travel to see that who are you watching kind of who
Are you looking over your shoulder going hold on get a few years time that person’s going to be on my back as it were um I don’t really look it like that I just look forward and just um you know focus on myself um I don’t really care
What everyone else is doing I just want to be you know the best in the world and do whatever it takes to to get that and Australian level you know the youth who in the youth systems do you think will is kind of the next people to that we’ll
See here in the UK uh I’m not too sure you know back home my dad and uh and Craig Boyce run like a bit of a you know a Speedway experience sort of days where you know they have a they have a little Junior bike that you know a kid can come
Along and you know pay some money and have a go and see how he likes it so um yeah they’re just trying to it comes in waves you know we have like a good sort of Juniors and then they turn sort of senior and then you know we have like a
Sort of big gap but um yeah just dad back home trying to you know keep that so we don’t lose that kind of Gap and yeah there’s definitely a few um Young Aussies I couldn’t tell you the names but you know when when we go home to
Australia and you know go out to the track with Dad and yeah there’s uh definitely a fair few coming up it sort of sounds as if giving the opportunity to someone to just learn about Speedway or or get on a bike or such it’s it’s a cool thing that they’re doing back home
And it it keeps you know my dad interest in the sport and um you know cuz both of his uh boys over in the other side of the world so yeah he keeps doing that and um gives him something to do and I think it’s cool cuz not many other
