Day four of my bicycle tour around Iceland. Video filmed 22nd July 2023.
This video shows the route between Borgarnes and the Snaefellsnes peninsular in Iceland.
A lot of the landscape is quite barren, and they day was very misty and cloudy.
During the commentary, I mention some of the prices in Iceland for hotels and food. While bicycle touring is for sure the cheapest way to travel, Iceland is one place where the budget can get tested quite a lot. 20 Euro fish and chips anyone?

Good morning everyone it’s the 22nd of July 2023 and day four of my bike tour around Iceland I’m starting from here which is boranes and to the South somewhere is rubic uh but today I’m going to be heading up this road and to the snaz feles peninsula

Which yeah let’s face facts I haven’t pronounced that right and I’m going to be staying in a hotel somewhere around here and the reason I’m staying in a hotel is uh where there’s two reasons the first one is I hurt my back and I think I could just do with uh spending

Some time resting it just for the one night hopefully and the second reason is that it’s got a shower and a buffet breakfast so sweet this day should take me well I’m not sure already maybe 6 hours it’s about 80 km so we’ll see how we get on

I’ll show you some clips from the road and commentary and speak in a bit cheers so today I’m heading to the snfi peninsula zero chance open outs at right I’ve got a hotel book for the night as it would be good to have a shower cuz there wasn’t a shower in this

Campground and I can rechar charge my gear have a shave maybe wash some clothes in the shower and also there’s a buffet breakfast so I will heavily abuse that in the morning before I leave also going to be some bad weather coming in now and I wanted to see what it’s

Actually like so I can kind of compare the weather forecast to reality to see how bad things can be anyway we’ll see it’s about an km day this was one of those days where I forgot to record my voice while I was cycling so I end up doing a voice over

Like 6 months later when I get back and this day’s video is not particularly exciting so you’re going to see a lot of gray skies there’s a lot of like Barron landscape and some of cycling in Iceland is that’s what it is so you’ve probably seen like I have like these amazing

Videos with spectacular views in Iceland and you do get them and I I’ll show you them later on in the tours that definitely round the West FS but a lot of cycling in Iceland is just kind of this Bleak empty landscape that you’ll seeing on this video and because of the

Weather uh it’s Misty quite a lot of the time I thought I’d give you an update from my diary which is only a short entry and this is what it says hurt my back in the morning got to hope that sorts itself out quickly decided that I would take a cheap

Exclamation mark hotel at €110 on the snaz feles peninsula rather than Camp there was a bit of a headwind and what with some back pain not 100% enjoyable so I guess that summed up the day and I didn’t write anything else of note particularly but I will say one thing

About prices so the hotel was 1110 and I also stopped for fishing chips which is like €20 and and if like me you’ve come from like a very budget orientated cycling background uh this is this is doesn’t feel good at all it don’t feel right does it however Iceland uh is not a

Cheap place and cycling in Iceland on a budget I guess you could do it but the reality is it costs you a lot of money to get there and once you’re there it does cost you a reasonable amount of money to just exist even if you’re you know just cooking for yourself every

Single day um so as a budget cyclist yeah these expenses were not great later on in the tour it all averaged itself out and I’m sure at the end uh like in the last video I’ll give you some statistics about how far I cycled and

How much the tour costs and that sort of thing um anyway once you paid €20 for fishing chips the first time the second time and third time when it’s a bit cheaper then you just dive in because you think you’re getting a bargain how quickly we adapt anyway I’ll leave you

With the rest of the video uh as I said it’s not a particularly exciting one to watch but the next few days are going to get a lot better and actually this snay Fels Nest Peninsula was my second favorite area to cycle in in Iceland

With the first one being the West fs and you’re going to see those videos in like a week or tues time anyway thank you very much for watching watching watching no I meant watching if you could uh like subscribe to the channel That would be awesome and I’ll catch you in the next

Video cheers for now is
