From that first time I can still remember it was just amazing, I haven’t looked back since, It was never a sport that was on my radar to play, I didn’t think with the problems I had with my knees and my back that I was classed to be able to play disability sport.
It was really funny when I first started playing I remember looking at stuff about Paralympics and the Great Britain team and thought oh that’s really cool , and then the Great Britain women’s team came and did a taster day in Chester which was
I suppose something really different they came up to Chester they brought the team, they trained and I got a chance to train with the team and I remember thinking this is amazing being there with GB athletes but not for one minute did the thought of playing for GB cross my mind in that session.
Literally 6 months in, had a great day loved it, thought yeah this is brilliant and uh the coach came to me at the end of the session and asked me to train with the squad the next
Day and I thought he just wanted me to make up numbers and he said no I want you to come and join the squad and I was like really I remember not telling anybody because I thought I can’t tell people this in case it’s not real.
I always say and it can come across a little bit cheesy I think that it’s made my life but I also know that it’s saved my life because it’s given me things that I didn’t see coming, I didn’t see those opportunities coming, the impact on my life has been almost immeasurable.
I’m immensely proud of the things that I’ve done and of the opportunities I’ve got not just for myself but opportunities to help other people as well.
