I just installed an 11-50t Sunrace cassette with a Ratio extender cage on my SRAM Rival 1 gravel bike. I did a similar conversion on a GRX 600 bike and a Garbaruk cage. However it seems my current bike has a slightly longer freehub body to where I needed to use a spacer to tighten things up properly.
The spacer that came with the Sunrace cassette is marked 11t and was between the 11t and 13t rings. Is this just where it needs to be when shipped or is it actually supposed to be installed in this location? I installed it behind the cassette closest to the hub instead. I think this is where it’s supposed to go when installing an MTB cassette on a road bike but the markings on the spacer is what confused me. The cassette retainer ring screwed on fine and the cassette is snug.
It took some adjusting but it shifts through the entire range. Not as smooth as stock but I’m not expecting that. Chain is a Connex 11s and yes the quick link is installed in the right direction. There seemed to be too much slack when sizing the chain (118 links) according to the Park Tool 1x method so I took one pair out. I also swapped out the stock 42t chainring for a 38t. No issues with chain retention and I have plenty of B screw left and limit screws are set properly.
