How sad she would be if she could not do art pretty ironic considering where she is now and amazing there’s a story in there somewhere I mean there’s a lesson in there about believing in yourself and going for your dreams etc etc finding a partner to help you

Out so anyway before any of that she said we were we we both were obsessed with yoga yoga is pretty much our religion it still kind of is even though we’re just barely returning to yoga dors doors dors has been doing yoga every day uh lately she’s trying to get back into it

And so at the time I said well you know you have you thought about yoga how about massage you know she wanted to do massage for a while and then we figured out how bad it is on your your hands and everything she’s like no and how about yoga and she goes well

And so we got looking at yoga and she said hey you know I said what do you think would you want to get certified to be a yoga instructor and try that she goes you know I think about it and she was she was making good friends Amy actually

One of our other friends yoga friend she uh she was a good friend and she was trying to get Doris to come and we were going there practicing we weren’t we weren’t teaching or anything but we were you know pretty serious yoga people we did

It all the time and every day and around that time we decided somehow I can’t remember how for her to get certified to become a yoga instructor and so she went to Asheville and I’ll never forget because she said she’s like well I’ve been

Looking at it and I we might be able to get the money and cuz she was working at Target at the time and I said what are you talking about cuz we we were actually doing really good skill stack was doing really really good at that time

And because it was way pre-co and everything and I said I said why don’t you just go to the immersive thing and she goes what do you mean go like pay $3,000 and do the Whole 30 days thing I said yeah she goes oh that’s like so much my yeah it’s the

Same and that way you get out instead of like going every weekend had another program you can do the same thing but you had to drive up every weekend I’m so glad we didn’t do that what cool and uh so that’s a clip so she um I’ll get to your comments

In a bit here uh so she ended up doing the full 30-day thing and she had an amazing time it was really eye opening for her gave her a chance to really clear her head out figure out what she wanted to do and she uh she came back all certified and started

Teaching and that’s when she met Katie who was was teaching art and Katie and uh some other people kind of L on to Doris cuz Doris is kind of a space space builder for people she’s Doris’s superpower is she’s able to help other people realize their dreams and and

She’s you know she holds space for people makes them feel safe that’s she’s so good at that she’s always done that it’s like it’s like her superpower and so people gravitate to her like crazy people always gravitate to dorus that’s why she’s just rocketing up in the art world right now because

That’s what she’s doing for other artists now in her job helping them feel safe and grow but she’s always done she’s just salt to the Earth amazing love her so much and so so yeah so these so Katie was one of the one of the people K I won’t talk too

Much about her but Katie tells the story that she was struggling with her own Direction at the same time and that Doris was kind of there to help her be grounded and find way and they became really good friends and it was weird because Katie was always kind of you know as Katie

Tells it you kind of look looking up to Doris because you know here she’s a yoga teacher but D always look at her as a and we created this really fantastic friendship which continues to this day Doris is kind of the Godmother of Katie baby kind of not not officially but anyway

And I mean we we even decided to stay in Davidson we he moved to Davidson because we wanted to be near Katie and Shane her husband who’s from Ireland He’s a fly fisherman and architect he’s an amazing person too someday I we’ll have to have K they’re very private people I don’t know

Cleaning which I also have to pay money out of pocket for um actually that’s that’s covered under my Blue Cross insurance so so yeah but I need to do it I think this is the week to do it actually because I mean we got we kind of got everything else out of the

Way um I think this is probably the week I need to do it to do it yeah it’s not like I can wait I’m talking to myself here it’s not like I can wait until May um to get the work done right after the bike ride that’s stupid so

Yeah I wish we could take the money and put it down payment with it and just not get my teeth fixed that would be awesome but they don’t that’s not how it works I don’t know about the implants though the dentist the dentist refused to give me

His opinion about what he would do in my situation the closest I got to the dentist input was the dentist said um don’t uh he said aesthetically he said aesthetically the best thing to do is the bridge and since I had a bridge before I tend to think I

Want a bridge but then he warned me he warned me he said the problem with the bridge is if you break your Bridge those teeth that were sacrificed for the bridge are now gone forever and you’ve sacrificed your canines and those are very key important

Teeth in your mouth so you end up losing so if what he he was warning me about kind of indirectly he’s like listen if you’re going to if there’s any chance of you knocking your bridge out again he didn’t say it like this but he’s like

You know you knock that bridge out again and you break off those other teeth you’re done you’re going to be doing a partial anyway and um he did say that if I got implants the impact was not going to hurt my skull at all it says if I hit hard enough to

Break the because apparently the implants screw in there’s like they put this titanium in this bone they’d have to build up the bone I don’t have enough bone in my in my face to put the uh to put the implant even in they’d have to they have to put cadabra bone into my

Face and and hopefully I don’t reject the graft I mean there’s so many things that could go wrong I just they say it’s not going to go wrong and everything I’m just like yeah but you don’t know it’s me you know I’m I’m me things go wrong

With me for some reason I don’t know why but you know I I would be the guy that they give cadabra bone implants to what they do they do this huge surgery just to give you a bone implant and then you have to recover from that you can’t even

Eat while that’s going happening you have to like drink from straw and all kinds of [ __ ] and I’m like you know mention not to mention streaming and being able to speak in a conference call and and you know go biking every day for four hours you know I don’t I don’t know

How it’s going to impact my life and he said I told him I said he goes well we have to make you a partial denture anyway so that while you’re healing from the bone graft you have teeth I’m like why he says well you know because you

Want teeth right I said no I don’t care but he says you’re you’re okay not having teeth while we while your bone where your body heals from the bone graft I said yes for sure he goes oh that’s good that’ll actually heal faster that way he said but most people don’t

Want to do that they have to work and they they don’t they want to have teeth and I’m like I don’t need teeth I don’t care and then I asked him Point Blank I said listen I said do I have to have anything can I continue to live like this and have

Those other two teeth taken out so they don’t rot in my head or something you know and just is that going to screw up my other teeth to do that and he goes no you’re fine I like what are you talking about I thought I had to have a partial

To hold myth teth in place at least or something he’s like no you’re good he’s like if you want to keep your canines your canines are strong enough teeth that they’ll hold everything else in place he says you don’t lose want to lose your canines he says you lose your

Canines and that’s the thing then your whole body gets messed up so so that that that really had me like wondering you know Anyone Can chant can on Dental imp yeah um and then get the Denture yeah get the implants that they drill into your jaw put in anchors then anchors the Denture to it yeah um sadly us medical is restricted by W Insurance paperwor hell yeah gandra it’s because illegally can’t

What work is painful the recovery time and your body will heal take time but it’s worth it I think you’re probably right I said Den would it be if you were yes um and you know imp yeah so I mean it’s a tough decision people it’s a really tough

Decision whatever decision I make is going to be very permanent the least permanent okay so this this is where it gets very interesting okay so those canines are going to be modified right my canine that got chipped and so actually one of the options is I don’t even have to replace

My chip tooth I could keep my chipped can this is not an option that the dentist wanted to talk about very much but one of the options is I just have the other tooth remove removed and I just just live without teeth and and there’s a part of me

That’s really kind of okay with that and it’s not because I look like a pirate it’s because I actually think it might be the healthiest thing to do long term and let me tell you why so every other option requires them to destroy my canine teeth completely they

Have to drill them all the way down to nothing to Nubs and then they’re either going to put in the case of the partial they’re going to tap them and then they’ll give me a partial that fits next to it which can come in and out in the

Case of the bridge the bridge is going to fit over the top of them instead of the cap and in the case of the implant they’re just going to cap it and they’re going to put you know new fake teeth next to it in implants and any of those three

Scenarios I lose the most important teeth in my mouth right now my canines if I lose my K9 teeth I can’t do anything if I lose my K9 teeth I am going to be gumming everything right now I can survive with my canines I can eat

From the side of my mouth and I can do different things and the canines I’m understanding are the things that hold the other teeth in place so they don’t move around too much even if you’re a teeth grinder and I am and my can eyes get really sore because I grind them but

According to the dentist they hold the rest of my mouth together so if I start to screw around with the can9 teeth and I make the wrong decision and Heaven Help me if I break off my can9 teeth then what then I’m I’m looking at a full denture at some point

I going have to pull my mowers my mowers are disintegrating like crazy because they’ve always been to they’ve been really bad because of a a degenerative disease I had as a kid was I was a baby with calcification in my teeth because of my mom that’s a long story I don’t

Want to get into so my MERS are eventually going to go two and then I’m going to be that guy with no teeth at all who’s got a full denture and and you know so so I’m that when I talk this way part of this stuff kind of makes me

Think that the implants might be the better way to go um I’ve had two people recommending implants and the reason for the implants even though they take a lot longer they’re more painful is because if you actually traumatized your teeth enough like if I Bas planted again they

Would snap off they would snap off and they would leave in the implant that’s bonded with your bone it’s really cool this titanium bonds with your bone the the the bonded bone titanium would stay in your head and the teeth would snap off and then they would replace the

Teeth if I were to fall and hit my face again um so if I were to fall and hit my fa if I fall and hit my face with the bridge right if I fall and hit my face with the bridge then the supporting teeth that are holding the bridge in

Place are my canine teeth and they are the only teeth and they take all of the pressure they take all of the torque just like I lost the teeth in the last accident because they were those teeth I lost the teeth the bridge were attached to in the last accident because it was

Too much torque on them so even though the bridge could have just broken off the teeth that the bridge was attached to those teeth got both sheared off and they’re dead they’re completely gone now if that if I get a bridge and I face PL again and this is why the dentist said

But you know if you break that bridge there’s no coming back after that you’re looking at you know a full denture after that and you know if I get a partial denture it’s obvious the partial denture just gets knocked out and my crowns might get screwed up

But I’m not going to lose my teeth right I have to really hit hard for that to happen you know the partial but the partial could potentially assume the blow of of you know falling on my face again I I don’t like thinking about falling on my face again but you know if

I did what would happen and and the the partial will just get knocked out if I’m wearing it but knowing me I wouldn’t be wearing the partial because it’s easier to breathe in a in a in a cycling event without a partial you know what I mean

Like seriously not having teeth is makes it it’s really great for an endurance athlete or somebody who has trouble breathing at night because I my teeth are not in the way I don’t get sleep apnea I don’t I don’t snore I I I can bike better I can breathe better on the

Bike because I don’t have the teeth doesn’t don’t block the wind I know it’s weird I’m actually better in bed because I can kiss better and I can do better Kung Lingus with no teeth I mean it’s crazy all the advantages of not having front teeth that I did not know about so

There’s a very real part of me that just wants to say Dennis I don’t want to do anything how can I make my mouth healthy without doing anything else I there’s a really part a very real part of me that’s okay with that I mean I sound

Am I getting what am I getting out of the teeth you know implants are a better option but but most insurance will pay for them um well that’s interesting JRE you would say that because because I haven’t even asked Geico if they’ll pay for the implants so there’s three different

Dental options and I so that that’s really good you brought that up because I thought I knew what my options were by just going to the dentist and I haven’t even considered the fact that the insurance might not the insurance might not even pay for one of those options so

That that that actually motivates me to call them right away just to see what my options are if they won’t if they won’t pay for implants we’re done here they’re going to buy me a partial or a bridge and we’re done and that makes sense for them financially because the bridge is

Four grand I’m sorry the um the partial is four grand and the bridge is 1100 implants are 1200 12,000 sorry 11 11,000 yeah the the the bridge the bridge is 11,000 the implants are 12,000 and the Denture is 4,000 um there a kid we used to buy wax

Teeth and PO for a penny I know so um yeah you could chew it I remember that was good um let’s see not having teeth is also good for losing weight and cheese and anchors would hold and then when you lose the rest of your teeth

They just add in two more anchors and to do hold denture implant H already done see the that’s why I think implants is the way to go but if they don’t play for implants then what do I do I think I’ve talked myself into going for implants even though it’s the most

Expensive option but if the insurance doesn’t pay for I’m screwed I can’t pay 12 grand for implants you know I wonder if the insurance will pay up to a certain amount for implants you know what I mean especially when I show them the bill the bill for

The bridge is 11100 the bill for the implants is 12,000 I mean 1100 12,000 it’s only it’s only like $1,000 difference between the bridge and the implants because I have to get two bone graphs yeah you know what I bet the insurance doesn’t pay for the bone graphs

Either oh God I could be looking at some real money here if I were an insurance agent and my job was to save money for the company I would tell me it’s not our fault you don’t have enough bone for a bridge in your front or your face we’re

Not paying paying for your bone graphs what do I say to that don’t say anything I should just call them and figure it out right we have HSA yeah we have some money in HSA um I tell them look I wouldn’t even be in this predicament if I hadn’t been in

The accident and knocked out the bridge that was perfectly fine before so I don’t want to hear it that’s what I tell them I have to get a lawyer at that point I yeah that’s the best thing to say okay I guess I have to get a lawyer
