A Sunny one day ride up the River Vltava from Prague to Melnik in the Czech Republic. This section of Eurovelo 7 is superb and made a great start to our Elbe River tour from Czechia to Germany.

European River rides this is along the vlatava from Prague to melck in the Czech Republic we stayed in our hotel in the morning as long as we could because it was absolutely slinging it down outside so we crossed the road and went into a cafe the river vlatava I think that’s

How you pronounce it is the main river that flows through Prague and goes northwards and joins the river Elba eventually at Melnick the city of Prague itself is not exactly cycle friendly lots of tram lines kicking about this would be really really dangerous on a Pock a road

Bike Prague itself is truly a lovely city but there’s plenty of videos on YouTube for showing you all about Prague so I’ve skip that bit let’s stick to the cycling eh Prague drivers didn’t seem to be quite as aware of cyclists um as they are further west in Europe particularly Germany in the

Netherlands we joined the Riverside as soon as we could once out of town the weather dried up and it was a gorgeous sunny day this White Strip here very dangerous very slippery it’s full of white plastic dots don’t know why they put it on a cycle

Track the early part of eurel 7 just out of Prague is really good the river has a weir to it and some locks to let the ships down and there was a bypass that went down this channel made specially for canis how Lovely this cycle track too had the ubiquitous solar system representation along It hello hey what out for one early section the cycle track um as signposted took us away from the riverbank for most touring cyclists that we saw Prague seemed to have been the destination rather than the start point the track came back to the water’s edge at this lovely little spot where

There was a a ferry if you wanted to cross not that we did they had also had a cafe that wasn’t open Christian had somehow managed to fit a a self- derailing chain Zer obviously the Czech Republic has a bit of catching up to do with regard to longdistance touring cycle ways that sounds familiar as an Englishman come midday we were always keeping our eyes peeled for a a convenient bench to have a picnic on the condition of the track slowly got Worse we met these two guys who told us that yeah further ahead it was really bad and it was that Yeah but it didn’t last long and sure enough the tarmac came back to Us we thought this cycle track hadn’t been ironed for a While but for the most part it was just a sunny cruise by the side of the river on a lovely track we felt that if we sat down on the grass that we might have been eaten alive then we came across this rather Grand Mansion and it was called a zamic

Vuzi please forgive my check Pronunciation last time I came this way with the chaps there was this lovely current powered Ferry how lovely and I was looking forward to seeing it again powered by nothing but currents what a disappointment turned out it been replaced by a poer new bridge Hello and this is the bridge and lock on the varans hinski plne canal I think melanic on the hill in the distance salad the piz out it yep both the canal and the river vlatava that we’ve been following both empty into the river L which the further north

It goes into Germany becomes the ELA last climb of the day up the hill into melnic itself and then go to the viewing point to have a a look over the edge hello dwelling thanks awfully for watching we hope your bike ride goes as well as ours did please give us a thumbs up or throw money or

  1. Great video. Prague is lovely but not great for cycling (I used to live there). Cycling along the Vltava (emphasis on the 'VL') is lovely.
