Tübingen is located in the Neka River valley, about 40 kilometers south of Stuttgart. A university town, the establishment of the university town in 1476, was moved to a church charity by Sindelfingen, which provided the foundation of funds and manpower for the establishment of the university. The University of Tübingen was established the following year. On July 8, 1514, the most important constitutional document in the history of the Duchy of Württemberg, the Treaty of Tübinger Vertrag, was signed here. As a witness to this event, Tübingen’s status in the Principality was greatly improved. With the religious reform, the church’s control over the city gradually disappeared between 1534 and 1535. In 1535, Leonhart Fox accepted the school’s invitation to teach. Tübingen is the youngest of all cities in Germany, and also ranked first in the 1995 news magazine Focus’s ranking of the best quality of life in Germany.
