Opened in December 1884 and closed in 1950, the line from Montauban (Tarn-et-Garonne) to Saint-Sulpice-la-Pointe (Tarn) has been completely dismantled since then. The line, that has a lenght of 43 km (26.7 miles), would serve a population of 25K if it was still existing

Most of it (30 km / 18.6 miles), from Bressols (near Montauban) to Bessières, has been converted into a greenway (a path reserved to pedestrians and cyclists) In Bessières, the new route of departmental road 630 (national road 630 before before 1973) is to replace what used to be the railway.

The creation of this new road over the former tracks, which became a small wasteland around Bessières’ train station, is justified by the traffic on the actual route of D630 inside the town ; estimated at 8802 vehicles per day in 2022, including 3.8% of lorries. Former railway In Buzet-sur-Tarn, D630 already replaced the railway

The former D630, too close from houses, became a simple communal road Between Saint-Sulpice’s train station and the municipal limit with Buzet, the railway became a simple dust track
