I am upgrading to 1x drivetrain and I need to pick Narrow-Wide chainring. I’ve seen that quite a few people recommends oval chainrings and I was considering this over round. I need to buy one anyway and for Garbaruk the price is same anyway. I have three questions regarding this decision.
1. Is 36T round = 36T oval? I guess it is but I want to make sure.
2. I started watching and I realized that it “maximum power” point isn’t “parallel” to the ground on flat surface. It is a little below that. [https://imgur.com/a/SVOiUt9](https://imgur.com/a/SVOiUt9) For reference I made 30 climb and descent rotation of this system.
I want to ask oval chainring users how it behaves when you need to pedal on descent (sometimes you need to pick up the pace even on descent). Because I guess it is better going up rather than down.
3. Will there be any benefit using oval chainring in 80% flatish (flow – short ups and downs) surface?
