TL,DR: the rubber hood on my Ultegra DI2 lever has swelled out after just a few months of use. Anything I can do about it (or that Canyon should help with)?
Hey fellow Canyon riders, I’ve got a small issue that’s bugging me and I thought I’d check in to see if someone more knowledgeable could advice on it.
This is not strictly a Canyon issue so much as it’s a Shimano one, but since it’s on my Endurace, here goes: the rubber hood on the right-hand lever has been slowly, but surely deforming (?) and getting looser, to the point where it’s now leaving quite the air gap.
Now, the bike is barely 1000 km in and this has started at least a couple of months ago, just getting worse and more noticeable as of recently. I’m by no means an expert, but isn’t this way too early for such deterioration of the rubber?
I tried to move it/re-place it a bit, but it looks like the rubber itself just swelled out to the point where it won’t be tight around the hood anymore. It’s quite annoying while riding on the hoods and it tends to leave a little bit of oil/lubricant out of it, which is also not ideal on my hand…
Could anyone advice what would be best to do? Is this something that I could claim with Canyon at all or is it not unexpected? Not sure if there’s a replacement part at all for this, haven’t been able to find one in Google anyway by searching for “shimano rubber hood”…
