Been cycling on a hybrid bike for the last two years, and now looking for a bike with drop handles, light frame to help soak up the miles on the weekends. Nearly 50 years of age, so not looking to win any races but would like to start participating in sportives. For an additional comfort, picking an endurance geometry and would like to get thoughts on the following bikes,

\+ Close in weight even though Defy has carbon wheels ( when I guess means it easier to bring this weight down further, but not a big deal for me)

\+ Better spec tires
? 52/36T 11-34 – Will this make it hills more difficult ?
\- 30 mm tyre clearance
\+/- New frame coming soon, assuming it will not be available at this sale price,
To my eyes both bikes look very nice, leaning towards the Canyon due to Di2, but should I be concerned about the 52/36T 11-34 gearing ?
