I’ve got a new office job with a great signing bonus and the cycle to work scheme so I’m looking for a good reliable daily driver and would love some insights from the community.
I am 90Kg, 5’11” going to be cycling about 6K each way through London rush hour traffic 3 or 4 times a week. I want to optimize for the road, but there will be occasional dirt track use, so probably something like 700c x 30 tyres?. I want an efficient comfortable ride through traffic that’s a joy to use daily. don’t care about racing or anything really serious
I want:
Relatively Relaxed geometry
Efficient ride
Ideally, pannier mount points, but could always add one of those seat mounted racks.
Drop handlebars are nice
I like the idea of a carbon frame just because I’ve tried carbon bikes before that felt very easy to accelerate, low effort to go fast on in comparison to the cheaper aluminium road bikes I’ve used before, but realize this may be in tension with the other asks.
I like the idea of UK made, but only because I imagine it’ll be better value for import costs and taxes. Definitely not a must.
Budget up to say… £3K
Have I just described a touring bike? 🤔
Giant revolut advanced 2 is currently seeming like the closest match.

Kona Sutra seems pretty nice + has a funny name. Not carbon frame though.

Canyon endurance looks like the batmobile which I like. But no pannier mount points, could add a seat rack?

Any critiques on the above? suggestions of specific bikes or brands or things to look for?
