Stepped into the short reach trap of the 7403 Dura Ace brake set.
Front brake wings are obviously too short by quite a lot, rear brake as well, but also the brake nut won’t fit the frames pre drilled brake bolt hole.
Typical case of acquiring parts before actually looking at the frame, which is a bit of a bummer, cause I did want to go dura ace 8 speed.
On the other hand, I’m gonna use these brakes on another frame some time, and hence need replacement.
Should I
– stay in the Dura Ace realm and get a set of single pivot 80s brakes, to at least somewhat maintain the aimed composition of components ( haha as if it were a complex tasting red wine 😅 )?
– go 3rd party and get eg some dual pivot Dia Compe brakes?
I’d like some dual pivots cuz they brake so nice, but maybe already the BR-7400 come in longer reach and I’d end up with a relatively consistent 7400/7403 fit-out.
What would you do or would you maybe CNC mill some fancy looking Drop Bolts for me 😅
