344 parkruns at Barnsley out of my 459 total parkruns, and it never gets any easier. I love going to my home parkrun, the place that introduced me to the joy of parkrun and has taken me on a wonderful journey ever since. It didn’t introduce me to running, but parkrun has been a massive part of my journey and the community that it brings.

The different people you meet, the stories you hear, the legends that are born out of the 3 simple laps of Locke Park, in Barnsley. The centre of my universe. Guiding you along your way. It’s the same at every parkrun really. Isn’t it a simple but wonderful thing!

Tootling around today for me, it’s all relative, racing a 5 mile road race tomorrow, locally at Wombwell. So saving the legs, ish!

3 laps of Locke Park
300ft of elevation
Entirely on tarmac
Not flat and definitely not fast.

Barsley Park room for me today then just on my uh long jug up um there a crow flies it’s about a mile and a half from the front door uh it used to be about quarter a mile but yeah grew up quar mile from me from lot Park from the

Start line didn’t hear about barsley Park until about event 137 so after quite a while yeah when I first rocked up at the start line in September 2013 um it’ been going for a two and a bit years before that so yeah it’s one I’ve done quite a lot 330 plus times now

So I know it like back of me hand and no the park like the back of my hand which is important cuz it’s my childhood Park obviously where I grew up learn to ride my bike in there fell off my bike in there played football in

There yeah you’ll name it um so yeah going today because Naomi is not doing par room so we’re not traveling anywhere she’s resting her legs ahead of uh onew 5 tomorrow and she’s doing a turbo ride a bike ride on zwift um in one of the bedrooms at home um yeah so

One well five see how we get on I’ll be smashing it in the middle of all my long run tomorrow um and treating it as a Sunday long 20 with a race in between which is quite interesting I think I’ve done it last few years that now when

I’ve raced one well 5 so a little bit about bansy Park one anyway it’s uh three laps of the park unlike the perimeter most boundary sort of thing it’s uh roughly 0.6 M worth a climb in those three laps and then .4 mile worth a downhill when I do tour and go to

Different ones I tell everyone it’s toughest in UK and I won’t be lying really it’s toughest to me anyway one I’ve ever done it’s 330t of climb um the cost record I think it’s around 15 25 from Scott Nutter um it were previously held since event number one um by Ian kton until

Scott in Cliff one of our local training group Lads Legend um came and smashed it in about, 1550 so yeah it’s not the quickest uh it’s friendly it’s barsley and we’re all friendly in town so yeah it’s got a nice cafe on the Finish Line

U and he got a nice Farm shop around the corner as well um see where it is we get about between 150 and 200 Runners each week um so it’s not busy but it’s not surprisingly quiet either but it’s Barnsley and it’s the place that I call Home hold On On down turn down down turn Down A He Go You you love so Parker and sandwich finished for breakfast nearly just on my Jugo now uh making it Four Mile again on the Jugo to make it 11 M for the morning with uh the park running between them Hills at bars they don’t get any easier no matter what

Speed you go they always hurt your legs always say it’s about always say it’s about a minute slower at barsley in comparison to anywhere else that you’d uh do a park rning the UK at least anyway it’s definitely a minute slower than what You’ do at Hull or York

Um so yeah quite happy with me jog running around this morning um just getting some miles in the bank but it definitely weren’t easy and saving me legs for one well tomorrow but yeah I’m not all about setting a 5 m PB I’m mobed about doing the marathon so

That’s where it is aers for cares the good thing about it being uphill all the way there it might be tiring before it’s all downhill home I’m on the way back heading into town as well as soon as we get back Tom Walker um announced

That he’s doing a free gig uh in barsley town center um in typical Yorkshire fashion it’ll be booming and in typical barsley fashion we love out for out so yeah imagine everyone in barsley to head into town this afternoon well this morning and this afternoon yes so cheers for celebrating

Parker number 459 with me hope you enjoyed it on my home turf and uh I’ll see you tomorrow when we’re doing the wmart 5 and we’ll see where we end up at a park run next week so yeah good stuff in it just keep running keep listening

And don’t forget to like And subscribe to the channel because well for one it don’t cost you a single penny and it helps the channel out so more people can see the journeys that me and Naomi are on um for us running and it might help

Someone else out by just ging them some Sound Advice with their on training as well so yeah don’t forget to like And subscribe cuz we’re all on a journey that no one knows nothing about so yeah just keep running and I’ll see you next week Bye I’ll be here hold
