As a recovering bike snob in remission, I have bought myself the most bargain basement bike (with suitable characteristics) I could find.
This little number came on my radar from the Cade YouTube channel here in the UK. This bike is an big box brand from a chain of car parts/repair superstores “Halfords”. (Not sure that description is accurate).
Anyway, this little beauty is an alloy frame with a full carbon fork, a Claris groupset and mech disc brakes. £480 out the door from the shop which is about 1/2 of what a Trek or Cannondale will cost with similar spec.
It’s rides really nicely and the groupset is actually really good. I can’t fault it! Heavy, but so am I!
I couldn’t find any info about the largest tyre width, but the stock 28mm road tyres had bucketloads of space so I started some 32mm Vittoria Rubinos and still had lots of space.
So I threw caution to the wind and got a set of used 40mm gravel tyres off eBay and they fit a bit too tight for my comfort but they don’t rub, I’m sure it’s a bad idea, so I’ll downsize them soon.
For now, feast your eyes!
