This is a walk that we do quite often, as it is a quiet and mildly challenging walk, good concrete walkway, and takes us on to either the garden centre, Preston Park, or Eaglescliffe. This is also a good walk for train spotters, as trains can be seen from the pathway and from Eaglescliffe Cut Junction (Please be careful, cross over, and watch trains from the safety of the swing gates).

It is suitable for prams, cycling, and wheelchairs (May have to use the large gate by the entrance if your wheelchair or pram is wide. Access over the train track is for foot passengers only, but you can continue along the path to Yarm Road – Preston Park).

There are birds of various types, and even a pond, (Hartburn Brick Pond) by the walkway, that has wildlife and a few swans. This is best walked during the day, but there are lights on the path, but we have never done it at night to see if these illuminate or not.

This video features a two second clip of The Prodigy – Firestarter (Without sound). I do not own the rights to this, but added it to illustrate my point about the A66 tunnel. To see the music video in full, visit The Prodigy’s official video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wmin5WkOuPw
