We’re off again and this trip will take you to Atlantic coastlines, stunning French towns and villages, the beauty of the French Alps and everything in between!
In Part 9 we travelled North East, about 140 miles, to a small settlement callled St Hippolyte which is just to the North West of Riom and Clermont-Ferrand, so fairly central in France overall. We were continuing our trip towards Morzine which we planned to do over 3 or 4 days. Another no tolls, no motorway route with, as always, some beautiful French countryside and great driving roads. 🙂
This series of films follows our Autumn 2023 6 week trip to France in our A Class 2021 Mobilvetta K-Yacht 79 Teknoline, towing a small trailer on which we now have ‘Peggy’, a 2023 Lexmoto Pegasus 300cc scooter 🙂

Hi guys good morning morning we are now leaving Rock Amador and we’re heading east eventually ending up in Moine um but we’ve got a couple of nights uh planned overnight to stop on Route and where are we heading today well um yeah we’re going to break
It into about 3 days from Rock morine so about 140 odd miles miles a day is so that takes us to clont for um so we might look for somewhere around there Ron which is r o n sort of Fairly central France Ron uh might be our sort
Of campsite somewhere around there is the plan haven’t found one yet but we’ll get there and have a mooch as you do yeah I mean the great thing about not planning is that you can pick and choose and out of season we found that finding camp sites is relatively easy isn’t it
Yeah yeah certainly before and after the French uh holidays is uh is pretty plain sailing to be fair anywhere where we’ve been in France we’ve been in some lovely campsites that you know have had loads of pctures available um so yeah so not planning is actually quite good sometimes yes yeah
If you’re non holiday season yes yes good well enjoy the scenery on the Way East imagine Sun shineing pink clouds in the sky and everything is right imagine Stars lighting up the night and a shooting star so vibrant you have to make a wish nothing’s ever in your way

Value the only slight downside it closed at the end of September and we’re the 2nd of October no and uh as you can see by that fabulous yellow ball up there it’s been another stoning day about 32 33° coming in here although it’s now about 6ish so
Uh just just starting to cool off a bit plenty of facilities here though as you can see we are just round at number 57 on the bottom Edge and as you’ll be well used to by now all those lovely facilities that so many French sites offer for that 19 quid
Or thereabouts good old communal rubbish store generally always out near theate so that the uh beIN collectors don’t have to go far so it’s generally always the case that you bring all your rubbish to Somewhere Out near the main gates generally very nice sort of perched up on a little
Hillside Straight Ahead there that’s the little Reception Area very pleasant staff in There there we go bit of information there that usual mix as you know us know so well from our travels of Chalet Motor Home Spaces camping spaces further up sight here bit of everything there’s resy the m h hiding over there we’ve got on with about half an
Inch to spare as you see when I actually get around there without that he without having to take off the um take off the Traer I ask for had do that could fit 9 M total I very biging pops on that one I’ll have to just wander down here have
A look at the pool there it is so if you’re getting here in prior to September the 30th You’ be able to have a swim around if you’re luy enough to have this weather cuz it is just stunning just incredible been so lucky these last 3 or 4
Weeks some shared facilities which look has in shared M and female off on the case again nice little game of payon going on there some more sanitary block little washing up area here Black Water Dropout and then a few other bits of information they’ve got on the saler Block here little laundry as
Well there we go that’s up at the top of the site resi the moho right down the bottom there some lovely pictures in amongst the trees some spectacular scenes as we were driving in as you saw there with the Pua d very famous tour to France Ascent which looks an absolute killer
Don’t even think we get up there in the motor home let alone on a pedal bike or if I did I’d need copious amounts of oxygen by the time I got to the top I think I need one of these I need one you think it fit in the
Moho a lot of them including ours I’ve got um freshwater tank Na and gray waste drain on the pitch as well it’s crazy isn’t it and now some UK sites you start to add things like that and the price just carries on going up and up here it’s just all part of your
£19 price gray water fresh waterer on the pitch UK could definitely learn a bit I’m sure from the uh from the way French uh look after motor homes rant over and then a few of these sort of permanent style shallal but interspersed with some more moho there’s a good
Example got the on ours as well it’s got the tap but it’s also got the um freshwater hookup as well that you can clip a hose into uh if you needed to fill up so very handy actually and particularly if you’ve got one of those
Um drain pipes that you can take out of your waist gray waist then um the little white receptacles would take would take your gray waste pipe like uh the um what’s it called collapse system of uh gray waste which we’ve got in the garage of the van
Useful stuff if you got a drain on your pitch and there’s Rosy the moo as you can see not much to spare at the back before Peggy disappeared down the bank need needless to say needless to say we got Nikki out to make sure that
Uh I didn’t send Peggy down the bank or indeed take out the uh marker post for the pitch number 57 that we’re on nice spot there is it the perfect time bit of shade out of the sun there but a lovely spot the mat of
Course had to come out didn’t it the mat had to come out of and we’ve got the uh we’ve got the bug screen over because certainly at Rock andador I don’t know about here but U there was a bit of an influx of those um Shield bug things which apparently so
A french guy on the pitch next to us at Rock andador told us about they are regular features at this time of the year in this part of France perfectly High Harless but uh they just in fact there’s one on them these little things here just on the top
Of the vanand there they get absolutely everywhere so uh hence bug screens are closed windows open Bug screen well un truly closed [Applause] and I think I just pass the uh get as close to the marker test as you can without without and I promise I
Didn’t touch it well Nikki told me I didn’t but yes it was I stopped and paced it out before I backed in and uh it was just about smack on 9 M available so I think we’ve used our space well whoa It’s Curry today it’s Curry night
It’s Curry night bit of Curry what was it was one of these um hang it’s one of these ones with several pouches I cheated well it’s not cheating it’s actually yeah they’re good actually they come with original Tika Masala yes you got they come with um
Herbs which I’ve put in um and spices o yum ready made yeah ready made um the good thing about these is they don’t need refrigerating and they’ve got a long sale by date um so they’re quite good for the van this is a chicken tikka masala sorry I’ve ripped it off there
Yes what’s it called the SP Tor with a TI yeah yeah so there’s three sass in all the first one’s already gone in that’s the spices and then we’ve got um a base sauce and um uh a sauce to flavor it and you basically just add it
Add the sauces to the chicken once you’ve um fried it l fried it with the uh spices and there job’s done and look at that 31st 31st of December 2024 don’t have to be ref refrigerated stick them under the floor as a uh a few of them under the
Floor and good on the hoof Curry making and they are Lush to be fair they are indeed and I’ve just added some garlic and onions and that’s it really and of course had to break out a bit of guineo as well do like that how on Earth do
They get guineo to taste just like the real thing well not quite like the Dublin stuff but it’s pretty good isn’t it Lush indeed and the Fan’s out as well because it’s still even though it’s evening and the sun’s probably disappeared now then uh it’s still scorchio in the van so we’re just
Getting the air moving around a bit and it’s starting to cool down it’s very nice there it is that’s yummy isn’t it super yummy that is yeah recommend those get one in the cupboard well that was camping de la cros what do we think of that yeah it was a pleasant overnight
Stop wasn’t it we were pretty tired by the time we got there so really we just sat out the chairs sat outside I had 40 Winks well of course has to be done doesn’t it well maybe 50 I don’t know um yeah so that was very it was very
Pleasant yeah shower blocks were lovely nice nice showers nice big showers um yeah very pleasant to stop it was yeah very pleasant indeed we’re uh quite enjoying the sort of only 140 150 miles a day um and today again um is no exception so um we’re heading a bit
