Time but it is certainly a pleasure to join you all this afternoon As We Gather to Mark a significant milestone in our nation’s ongoing efforts to eliminate cervical cancer as a public health problem in Antiga and barbudo this occasion is not just a celebration of progress but also a commitment to the

Wellbeing of our Nations women reflecting our dedication to the principles of universal access to health coverage and the sustainable development goals cervical cancer is a leading cause of death among women in Latin America and the Caribbean and it is a stark reminder of the inequality the inequities that

Persist in wealth gender and access to health services the mortality rates are three times higher in our region Compared to North America and demand urgent and targeted inter interventions the stat the statistics are sobering with over 35,000 women losing their lives to this preventable disease annually in the

Americas today as we launched the elimination of cervical cancer program we are aligning ourselves with the global call to action the World Health assembly’s resolution in 2020 set a bold Target to eliminate cervical cancer by achieving an incident rate of less than four cases per 100,000 women achieving this goal rests on three

Key pillars the pillars are that one 90% of girls fully vaccinated with the HPV vaccine by age 15 should help us to achieve that 70% of women screened with a high performance test by age 35 and again by age 45 would help and 90% of women with pre-cancer treated and 90% of

Women with invasive cancer managed each country they feel should meet the 90 7090 targets by 2030 to get on the path to eliminate cervical cancer this is a visual that requires Collective effort commitment and the adoption of a comprehensive approach encapsulated in the pillars of prevention screening and treatment Antiga and baruda proudly

Leads the Eastern Caribbean countries in this critical initiative our journey began in Earnest in 2016 and over the years the members of our Med medical fraternity have worked diligently to establish a National survical Cancer task force conducting and needs assessment and implementing successful pilot project for high quality cervical cancer

Screening the collaboration with poo and wh and basic health International has been most helpful and we express our heartfelt gratitude for their support my understanding is that our achievements as evidenced by the successful completion of the pilot project surpassed expectations where over 1,500 women were screened and identifying at least at

Risk individuals who received timely treatment today we embark on the scaleup of paho W’s elimination strategy reinforcing our commitment to achieving the global targets mentioned earlier it is therefore quite in order to pause to applaud the team of healthc Care Professionals who have been leading the charge as well as those working

Behind the scenes to bring us to our present level of achievement in in eliminating this vexing cancer in fact not too long ago my wife and I dispatched a letter to congratulate Dr Sher toop on her selection of being in the top 10 from among 377 applicants from 86 countries to

Participate in the international young yeers program in global cancer control 2023 24 and I appreciate that because that that’s at this point in my speech I said let us give her a round of applause this recognition is a testament to Dr tullock’s exceptional dedication and significant contributions in the

Field of cancer control specifically in the elimination of cervical cancer in Antiga and Barbuda I am sure that there are many other unsung heroes like Dr toop in this program and I encourage you all to stay the course and to keep your eyes on the prize of the elimination of cical

Cancer I also want to encourage you to take a moment to read the insightful presentations delivered by our minister of Health sir mwin at the United Nations and the remarkable success stories from countries like Australia demonstrating the impact of concerted efforts in cervical cancer elimination in celebrating this remarkable accomplishment in the

Elimination of cervical cancer it is essential for us to recognize that our achievements are not isolated events but part of a larger Health Care landscape our Health Care system while making significant strides in cervical cancer prevention must continue to evolve to meet the holistic needs of our population one crucial aspect that

Demands our attention is the enhancement of our Primary Care Services strengthening our Primary Care Services serves as the foundation for a resilient Health Care System providing accessible and comprehensive services to individuals at the community level by bolstering primary care we can establish a proactive health care approach that goes beyond addressing specific

Diseases preventable care becomes a Cornerstone in this endeavor investing in public health campaigns and Community Education initiatives can raise awareness about the importance of regular checkups vaccinations and lifestyle choices that contribute to the overall well-being through these efforts we can Empower individuals to take charge of their own health and adopt healthier

Lifestyles ultimately preventing the onset of various health conditions inclusive of cervical cancer encouraging screening initiatives is is another pivotal component while our focus on survical canc screening has proven successful extending this mindset to other prevalent health concerns ensures that potential issues are identified in the early stages regular screenings for various

Conditions coupled with public health awareness can significantly contribute to early detection and timely intervention in disease processes ultimately improving Health outcomes for our citizens furthermore early treatment options should be readily accessible within our health care System the success of the cervical cancer screening pilot project was highlighted by the importance of prompt

Intervention by ensuring that individuals identified with health concerns had Swift access to effective treatments we can minimize the impct impact of diseases and improve the chances of successful recovery in promoting the General Health and well-being of our citizens we must consider Comprehensive Health Care initiatives that address not only

Specific diseases but also the broader determinance of Health these this includes socioeconomic factors mental health support and lifestyle intervention we will then create a Health Care system that is not only reactive to illnesses but also proactive in fostering a culture of well-being which is crucial for the long-term health of our

Communities I truly believe that we need to update our Primary Health Care policies our plans and our strategies we need a sustainable infrastructural plan along with improved access accessor services in our community clinics the significance of reliable public education along with the training of staff at all levels to

Caribbean to access the HPV vaccine through poo revolving fund and made it available to our young girls and boys to drastically reduce the future incidence of cervical cancer this proactive measure is now complemented by our national guidelines for cervic cancer screening which U utilize HPV testing to identify precancerous conditions early

Cervical cancer or cervical cancer as a global health problem by reducing the incident rate to fewer than 4 per 100,000 women our commitment is further solidified to Partnerships at both the international and Loc local levels including collaboration with the panamerican Health Organization and I’d like to recognize

In our presence Dr Solan Kobe Jackson would you stand up please Dr Jackson and at the same time we are collaborate give a round of applause and basic health International represented by Dr Marsh would you please tell we are grateful for their guidance and support as we aim to create a program

That is inclusive effective and sustainable although we have made strides towards the elimination of cervical cancer as a public health problem our success in this feat hinges critically on the commitment of the government the strength of our regional and international Partners our community leaders and our healthc care providers the cervical cancer

Elimination program has developed as a standalone National document which is the end result of a process involving multiple stakeholders which was led by the Ministry of Health Wellness social transformation and the environment the National Cancer elimination program will be an area of focus in our national plan of

All of us all right we I’m disappointed B good morning how you doing I’m good thanks Valerie good morning how you doing this good how you doing I’m good I’m good I’m good now before we start with um ran let me start off with you and asked this question about this

Relationship between the statistics Division and the Ministry of Health what what are we what are we doing how we targeting people and the importance of this um collaboration all right so good morning to your listeners and viewers and so um what we are collaborating with the statistics division on is the populationbased

Step survey which is our non-communicable diseases risk factor survey now what is happening is that chronic diseases is the number one cause of death worldwide so annually you have about 4.1 million persons worldwide dying from non-communicable diseases bringing it further home you have 2.2 million of that 4.1 occurs in our region

Latin America and the Caribbean and 85% of that 2.2 million occurs in person within low and middle inome societies so you see where that leads us and in that 85% those most of the persons affected are persons within the age range of 30 to 69 years old so persons are dying prematurely

From non-communicable diseases now as part of this sustainable development goals agenda Target 3.4 with those High numbers of non-communicable diseases attributes mble debts we as a country have to reduce our debts from ncds by 3.1% and therefore but yeah well a third sorry so and this we have to do by 2030

Because this is a part of the 2030 agenda and so what we’re doing now is the first round of our step survey is to collect data on our population so that we can see what it is that is causing for to die prematurely from non-communicable diseases and then that data will be able

To help us to form policies and programs to help to reduce deaths from non-communicable diseases all right we we we keep saying ncds and non-communicable diseases I mean we don’t want to assume that everybody know what we’re talking about so let’s tell them what are non-communicable diseases give some examples so they will

Understand where we’re going yes so non-communicable diseases are diseases that are not transferred from one person to the other so I can catch a noncommunicable disease from sitting beside you most of our non-communicable diseases are attributed to poor lifestyle choices so we have things like diabetes hypertension cardiovascular

Diseases you know our strokes and stuff like that these are the non-communicable diseases we’re referring to all right thank you now Ryan I mean let’s let’s go back to the departmental static statistics division in all this and I I’m sure people are asking so when are they going to start but we already

Started yes how long you’ve been doing this good morning Steve and good morning to listeners we have started this um activity since last year I think it’s about November last year and we would have bre taken a break dur Christmas time and started the problem is for some reason the

Residents and citizens of antean Bara have not been given us the kind of cooperation that we’re accustomed to the statistic division have been doing surveys all the time and we end up with a 90% And 90% um response rate all for this survey is just not happening so we

Here again begging people to participate give the enumerators your assistance you would have heard what valy just said about the um the amount of persons dying from this disease from these diseases worldwide and higher and the percentage even higher in our region so this information is critical towards developing strategies to mitigate

Against this disease so we here begging persons to participate when the um numerus comes around we using the term beg why how why how we got to this how we got to this place where now we have to beg is it that you think it’s Pride

Folks don’t want to know um let people know that hey I I’m diabetic I’m I’m whatever it is or they just don’t want to participate you the one going out there so you can I don’t think it’s that they diabetic because they don’t some they don’t know what’s um under question here

So it’s just since Co there is this and it’s happening re um probably throughout the world but we know of um regionally because we um collaborate with our colleagues in the region who who have done this census we have done our sensus we are in the planning stage of

Our census so we are collaborating with our colleagues regionally and they’re saying that the response rat is just gone down persons just don’t want to participate in surveys anymore reason probably Co maybe they still have this Co um fear that You Will Catch Co coming around something was but it’s just not

Happening it’s it’s not happening um M Miss Williams what do you think it is to me I think most of this has to do with health literacy in antean bar because some of the excuse that persons are giv you know while um I went to the

Doctor last week or last month you could have a blood pressure check last month but your blood pressure or even yesterday your blood pressure yesterday and your blood pressure today will not be the same and you what we explaining to persons is that the information that

We collect your name is not ending up in a report any place so it’s just the data from what we collect now we’re looking for information on your risk factors for non-communicable diseases so we asking you things about your alcohol consumption tobacco use um physical activity and your diet so those are the

Four uh risk factors that we asking questions about and then you have the measure measurements where you have your blood pressure be check your height and weight and your W circumference and then we collect a urine sample that is taken to the lab to check for your cholesterol

And you know well like fats in your blood and your glucose so that’s just basically the indicators that we’re working on and you know I mean it’s done in the privacy of your home because they persons come to your home and take these tests from you know right there at your house but

I don’t know if it’s the awareness well some persons are saying as much as we would have been doing some of these awareness even before we began we went into the field some of the householders are still saying you know well they haven’t heard about the survey they don’t know anything about the

Survey so we are just now you know doing this last minute mapup so to speak to get back out there again and to let people know that this is a survey that is done by the Ministry of Health for ante and Bar because in that number that I spoke to you about seven

Out of 10 of our debts in antean baruda are from non-communicable diseases and as I said this is happening to persons between the age of 30 to 70 years which mean is the working population reproductive population of our country that’s being affected and it’s not only you some persons are having the disease

Or you also have the complications the morbidities you know the disabilities which then also imp on their lives the life of their family and the country as a whole so what we’re trying to do now is to find ways where we can mitigate against this and have our people living

Longer healthier lives now Mr Mr Anthony let me ask this you you the guy you you go out you do with all the statistics and everything how or what do you think that we can do now to to bring awareness yes you’re here on the television but

What else you think we need to do to get the folks um more active activated to answer the necessary questionnaires and everything what what you think what is there that in your mind well this is this is the start of it we need more of this so tomorrow nurse Williams and the

P local representative will be on another meeting another media house we need to swarm the the country with um ads all over the radio on your phone you know those um yeah just keep just let people know social media yes social media everything let them know the

Importance of this because at the end of the day just William said you you are the information you provide number one it’s confidential so number two you are helping the country to mitigate against the non-communicable diseases and a third benefit is that you will get back that results from those urine tests and

That blood test you can follow that to your doctor for your own use without having gone to a lab to pay for that so it’s benefiting you both the country and benefiting yourself but in order to to to really get more input we have to ramp up our um communication and advocacy

Throughout the the length and breath of the country what are the days you go out you go out you go out every day every day and you map out where you’re going first yeah that has been done already that is the way the statistics division comes into play do you make an

Announcement like you know the the um thing where they say hey okay we’re going to this area this day do you do all that too no because we go to every area every day there’s a an enumerator assigned to every area every area that you have to go more than one

To depending on um the size of the area we because we go by enumeration districts that’s are some small areas and you do 10 persons in each in numeration District district so an enumerator is assigned to various generation District they go one at a time they are already assigned certain

Households in other households that they have to go to and they go there and they try to get their survey another thing that might be um a causing this delay is um the fact that the methodology that we using the enumerator is not um accustomed to

It and the general public too because I come to your household I take the the list of a person between 18 and 69 and the tablet chooses one randomly and only that person is required to provide information so we find sometime in the household another person is more

Willing to provide their information but they weren’t Chosen and the person that was chosen is not as willing so have and you can’t switch it up no that’s the methodology it can’t change only the person we selected um have to give the information so four of us in the house you choose one

Noto the machine yeah automatically choose one say okay let me use a a shy but B want to do it you can’t you have to use a right and might be saying come back tomorrow when you go back tomorrow a not there you have to go back again and the the enumerators getting

Frustrated and K not custom to that all right Miss Williams is is there a timeline on this for us to collect all the necessary information that is needed yes so we have moved our timeline like about four times so now we’re now to the end of

March wow and we have to get in all the necessary information we’re not even half the way yet yes exactly we not even half the way that mean you guys got to get out each and every day on the media and let folks understand and social

Media too and again the word oh the word I was looking for schedule I think you should put out schedule let people know hey we coming even though it’s every day as but as Mr Anthony said we’re in all the area so there’s an enumerator that

Works in different areas so he not the same the same person who’s in C Farm is not the same person in pars so there’s a different person in all the areas and the other thing too why it is so important for us and T and barie will be

Hosting the conference in May they’re going to be having an event about ncds how does it look that has the host country we are planning to do so many things but then we are not able to you know get this survey done that every other country in the area has completed

Some have done it twice and they third and so we have to step up as antean and we have to be more trusting because if that is the case where we’re not trusting the system we have to be able to listen understand and even read because the information is provided you

Know and for pliers and so on and understand the process and you have the opportunity you can speak to your doctor your nurse you know your healthare provider to get more information and what this step survey is all about because at the end of the day what we’re

Looking really and doing is to improve the Health and Welfare of the persons who live and resides in antean babud listen we we’re going to work on it we have to get this out we have to get people um hyped up about it we have to use all the necessary resources that we

Have to to just we’re educating but we want them to understand the importance behind the education um if you don’t believe in in us get your doctor ask your doctor questions and and let your doctor explain to you why is it important for them to come to your house

And ask questions and as you said it is not everybody a question in the system will choose one and then you go from there we just need just just some simple questions and answers that can save your life or help your life and your family yes definitely listen thank you guys

Guys for being here and I’m going to invite you um anytime again after this so do what you’re doing with the rounds and then come right back here again and let us um educate and get the people ready here in Antiga and Barbo because we’re helping each other this is what

This is about and especially with the health part cuz a lot of people dying and we just don’t know why exactly especially young people and that’s why we need that’s why we’re doing this because we need to know what’s going on we need to know Miss Williams thank you

And M Anthony thank thank you all right I’ve been speaking with ran Anthony senior statistician within the statistics Division and valy Williams NCD coordinator and step survey coordinator within the ministry of a let me tell you people listen to me answer the questions let’s get let’s we need to

Know if we don’t know we will never understand and we’re going to be keep it crying and blame all kind of things that they necessary so let’s go let’s get this right all right all right stay with us folks we’ve got more coming up right here on Antiga Barb today I’m seeing

Where you can get your mosquito traps and sticky pads visit www. environment. goo. AG Yeah but yeah it’s me again T in the kitchen still making coffee up to can’t cup but it’s a great pleasure for me to introduce to you Mr St Clair Williams a nominee for Coach of the Year in cycling at the sports national awards let me say

Good morning to you bro how you doing good morning good morning congratulations man well it’s a it’s another year it’s a lot of hard work so I’m happy to be here and be Nami for coach of the year once again how how long you’ve been involved in cycling

It’s a little over 10 years now and it’s been great as a cyclist then you know form the team and then trying to recruit a lot of the youngsters so I’m focusing in the club primarily on getting the youngsters you know up to speed and to

Next Level so that’s what it’s all about how do you feel being nominated for this prestigious award man well as I said it’s a it’s a lot of hard work and it seem as if you know when you put in the hard work it pays off it definitely okay cool

Um what do you believe contributed to your success uh for being nominated for Coach of the Year within cycling who you think watching you well I think um it’s just the result from the cyclist um you know what I do I make sure I put down a

Good program and follow the program and it has to be a coordinated effort between you and the cyclist because if they don’t put in the work you’re not going to get the results and if you’re not seeing the results from the cyclist you’re going to say that the coach is

Not doing what he’s supposed to do so again it’s a collaborative effort with the coach and also the cyclist your cyclist yourself not presently but you you did before some time ago yeah that s like yeah while back okay because I know some you have coaches and and trainers

Within the different sporting Arena but they just don’t play or ride or participate but they know the game yes I’m fulltime into the coaching now because I wear a lot of different hats so I also run the club and also do recruiting for the club do coaching and

Also you know at the national level I am the President of the cycling Federation so it’s a lot of different things I have to deal with outside of riding so riding is you know on the back burner for now all right um let me ask you so which

Club are you talking about okay made mention of Club wadle cycling Academy yes that was formed in 2015 because what I saw in 2015 was that the cycling Federation had quite a bit of senior Riders and we don’t have much of the younger Riders so that club

Started out to try to gather a lot of the youngsters so that we could have some level of continuity so whenever the older Riders decide to get off the bike there’s a smooth transition and I’ve been building that from since 2015 up until now um now we’re seeing you know

The fruits where we have you know one of the junior Riders you know elevating you know making a lot of waves in the you know region and also locally so I think it’s working and what we’re doing we just continue to do all right that’s about you talking about the the the club

Level now let’s talk about you now on a national level where you deal with the guys from the different clubs to right here in antika Barbuda and then the same different guys from different clubs you travel with them overseas to the region events and so forth how how are you as

That coach in that site because then you have your club but you’re dealing with other guys who are in other clubs with different coaches how does this work you see the beauty about it is that I’m there at every event so I see what is happening I see the weaknesses I see the

Strengths I know what I could do in terms of because I don’t coach everybody so those that I don’t coach I watch them during races to see where what what um what are the weak points what are the strong points and whenever we get putting together a team to travel what I

Have to do is just speak to them and tell them tell their coach or even speak to them on a oneone and say okay you need to work on this work on that because when we go over into the regional market or even you know Continental you know we have to drel as

A team and this is what you need to do when you get out there because I see a lot of different races i’ I’ve seen from the lowest race to the you know the highest race up to World Championship so I know what it takes to get to that

Level and I know what it takes to be in that pack R there and to stay there until the end of the race so I just try to coach them along that way I don’t have full-time coaching but when I get the team together is just the pep talks

And the encouragement you need to give them since you’re involved in coaching with the cyclist what are what are some of your highs and some of your lows over the 10 years well the high is when you you have um cyclist winning championships um locally winning you

Know the CH bringing back the champion jersey from a different country um those are the high points you know where you see that um your fruits are now coming in now right um you seeing your your cyc stocking up against persons from uh Colombia you talk about um Puerto Rico guad Loop

Marque um you know these countries that you definitely know have good cyclist and they can ride pedal to Pedal Toe to Toe as we would say and you know come out on top um that those are the highs um the lows that you know you’re going

To see cyclist that you put a lot into and then you know at the end of the day um sometimes you see they start to slack off they don’t show up for practice and then you start to get the excuses so that’s the low point after you would

Have put in a lot of hard work but you just have to continue if you want to see progress with your involvement now how far do you want to go as a coach as someone who is involved with cycling or how far do you want to see cycling goes

Here for antique Barb well we have seen strides now we have seen it um in the early 2010 12 going there when we have um you know in the Pres of Tamiko Butler who have um been out there on the semi-pro Pro level um we want to

Maintain that we want to surpass that we just had um J Bridges signing a contract uh with um team albo and this is what I want to see more cyclists coming on board signing these contracts turning pro riding continentally riding you know internationally and getting on the big

Stage on the biggest stage we want to see persons qualifying for things like the Olympics and the world championships and you know at a you know steady continuously so this is the thing this is what I’m looking at getting on the big stage and we just have to work

Together you know put on you know all the older guys with all the experience you know come assist the coaches come and assist you know other cyclist so that we could have a good rivalry here in Antigo so when we get on the big stage we’re ready for

Them what about getting involved with the different schools and being a part of the curriculum in education or PE how should say yes we have done that actually on Friday we would have partnered with the AOS comprehensive school because they would have Incorporated cycling as a sport for

Their sport sporting events for the sport um they had that on Friday and it was a good turnout actually I I saw some prospects that I may need to recruit and this is what I do I go to these um inter schools and you look at the different

Not necessarily have to be the person who won that race because you can see somebody with a lot of potential and maybe the person who won the race was just excited and they won but you can see someone who has the who has the dedication in them who excited about

Cycling and then you can choose that person start to groom them and then at the end of the day they’ll become a very good cyclist listen St CL wishing you all the best and be on being nominated to do what you’re doing bring the youths up in cycling take cycling to another

Level here in Antiga Barbuda and um I mean again nothing but success for you and the entire fraternity thank you all right folks been speaking to St CA Williams he’s a nominee for Coach of the Year in cycling right at the 2020 324 national sports award which comes up in

March and um we’re going to be dialoguing with a lot of these nominees as we get closer to March 16 all right stay with us we’ve got more coming up right here on Antiga Barb unit today when we get Back This very moment we believe in you as you believe in yourself in your desire to secure a future there when you’re needed most because confidence comes from understanding you’re always in safe hands and the security of knowing these are the moments for every achievement every step of the

Is the owner CEO mixologist everything of Timmy Time cocktails for real good morning Timmy how are you good morning good morning s how are you I’m I’m good I’m good now as I mentioned earlier Timmy Time cocktails does not need any introduction we know who you are we’ve been seeing a

Lot of you for the past since Co 5 years right so tell us how Timmy Time cocktails came about all right um well let let me start and say good morning and I’m Timmy Timmy Thomas Timmy Time um it started at um during the co and during the pandemic really

You know I mean I was always known for the top top mix arst on island really but um yes I had this in plan the Timmy Time in plan but it was just that Stepping Stone from here to there you know I mean I was just waiting for the right time but you

Know Co came along and I you know I mean I embraced it it was good and bad for Co but um it was good for some of us and yeah I know all the bars were closed at that time yes people needed to get their their little drinks on everybody was home frustrated

And you know what I mean and I created a page and I said to myself let me let me try something you know you got to start somewhere right and I started making these fancy cocktails in bottles and you know people just I got to be all around

The island every day every dayak breaking the curfew sometimes but what I had was to eat you know what I mean right but it was all love it was all love though you know what I mean and then um from there took off by my spot where at right now at Queen Elizabeth

Highway mhm I started off with a Farmers Only Gino yes yeah he used to sell vegetables in town and one day he had he said he had too much watermelons and he said to me I want to create a cocktail and create a Vibe with some watermelons

And we started right there we created a little atmosphere with drinks doing non-alcoholic both alcoholic drinks made from watermelon he’s selling his vegetables and fruits and after G left my my right hand guy which is Jason you know Jason yes yes he said to me I move

You know we’re not moving from here you know what I mean and we stayed there and just get all the little paper work and everything you know what I mean and and then boom T me time B it’s like a little gas on some some and everything just

Blew up from there blow up from there and just stay there and you know I mean so where where did the name Timmy Time come from well we know the Timmy yes yes yes but how did you come up with that name Timmy Time I got that name when I

Was doing a lot of regional an international bartending representing Antiga you know what I mean I think it was the the bunch of mixologist from around the world because I had so much flare and I was from this small island they said say boy you they just gave me

That name Timmy Time Timmy Timmy you know what I mean cuz they lots of um competitions that I go to and even when I go to certain Islands the just the the appearance of and the way how Timmy carried himself and the way I portrayed myself they were just rooting for Timmy

Even though they their cont was in in in the competition you know I mean but um I’m just loving it right now you know I mean I’m just loving it how did you get your start cuz I as you mentioned you would have been Bartending for years and

You would have been one of our top bartenders if not the top topist right so how would you have gotten your start where did the love for bartending come from uh I think it was right after high school used to go to Princess Margaret so I finished Princess Margaret in 1995 or

’96 you tell your age they can’t say certain things sounding like a grandfather right now but yeah but um yeah I think I got a I was working during school at uh I was mixing paints at H&G paints but I got a side job also at uh Grand Pineapple yes

All right and so I started out as a barand or bar back at that time I couldn’t mix a drink I wasn’t allowed to mix no drinks I was just replenishing and making sure the guys areir is ready and but I’m a quick learner you to keep watching and asking questions questions

Right and use to mix paint so and also I love I love I have a passion for cooking Steve will tell you you know he always said I’m posting my stuff you know I have a real nasty passion for cooking so it’s just it’s just a blend of you know of both you

Know I mean so yeah started at Grand Pineapple worked there for a few years then after branched off from Grand Pineapple I think it was my first competition in 2009 pineapple mango Fest mhm I was scared to go in there but I had a flare and everybody keep encouraging I went in

There and it was a bunch of big guns in there right and I wanton it wow and from that I never look back and I want I want a few more then anger st came to n Ang fine RS and biders mhm and I won that competition like three times in a row

Here and place first run up abroad two times and they made me brand ambassador for angur right in Antiga so it was just growth always because I’m always pushing you know me but it’s a whole lot of love I got to love what you do but first you

Got to put God first of course if you know not God you know not love God is love right definitely what are some of your signature cocktails I I assume you would have bought the blue pill cuz that seems to be a a crowd favorite right

Right right tell us what some of your other signature cocktails are okay the blue pill is the infamous blue pill that’s what most people drink yeah that’s the biggest seller toy time I have another one which is a gin blueberry lemonade pink cocktail it’s called a kitty cat I never got never

Tried that if you’re a gin lover you would love that you so I’m saying I have like my after dinner drink for just like it’s like you have desserts after dinner so it’s more like a dessert drink instead of having that big piece of chocolate cake or I have a drink that

Just you know like a digestive diges your food properly and let you me yeah and I have quite out a few I have the Black Stallion which is a a cannabis based one but what it what it is I don’t use the Cannabis itself that I use the

Stems and the leaves and I dry it out for a few days in in the spirit okay but it smells the same like right right but yeah and if if if you have a cocktail in mind that you want cuz I do a lot of that too if you realize people are

Having parties and they use color schemes for parties and and baby showers people just call me over say to I need this color drink this is what I want power I got it covered and you got it you know mean just press play and I got

It all right um we see the basket here are you doing anything for Valentine well yes this is what we are doing for Valentine simy time I um kind of cooperate with this Flores girl Debbie my good friend she works at a floral floral place and yes we’re doing like a cocktail

Fruit chocolate basket you could get cocktail and all chocolates like chocolate chocolate for bang dog as we always say but um yeah and so love it easy on the pockets nice but look whatever cocktail you want and loaded with fruits this is just a rough sketch you will be

More packed up than that you know was hustling this morning all right tell tell us how we can contact you to get our baskets and just maybe to call you for um more information on the cocktails and so on uh easy telephone number 7234 N3 or you can go on the page Timmy

Time cocktails LTD same thing for IG and you will find everything right there you I mean and where we going to see you next mixing up your your specials uh well well third to Fridays right now we working on Sundays also you know I team up with backyard Chef too

Which is my cousin but Javid Big Ups to him always uh you know we do our stuff on Thursdays through Saturdays so we have a few plans in place we’re going to strike up some things there you know I mean we going to also maybe include a

Sunday Kind of brunch every Sunday okay from like 10: to about 4:00 coming up shortly it’s going to be nice you know I mean nice mixed Cuisine breakfast you know Javid does his thing of course of and also you be getting all your ice coffees ice lates and everything there

On Sundays and everything so you know I mean it’s just growth as you said constant growth constant constant um is has it been easy for you as an entrepreneur I mean this comes easy to you mixing your cocktails and so on but was it easy to Branch off

On your own no it was a risk right but you got to take risks you know I mean being an entrepreneur CE whatever you call it it’s a lot of work it’s it’s even more work than when you’re working for you know I mean a company or so cuz

You your mind got to be there all the time you got to be on the ball with everything you got to make sure all the eyes are that the teas across you know what I’m saying and yeah especially if you’re you want your business to

Progress I mean and as we may say the fastest way to get where you want to be is slow so that you got to take your time and not just rush it and produce like Quality quality over quantity is one of our MOS at the same time I mean

Prevention unit at the medical benefits scheme in Antiga and Barbuda and of course she is here to shed some light for us on their upcoming event the medical benefits schem glowing and growing at 45 heartbeats walk good morning Justina good morning how are you doing I’m good thanks all right it’s a

Pleasure to have you of course thank you now let’s get into the purpose of this walk it’s glowing and growing at 45 heartbeats walk tell us about that okay so this year medical benefits will be celebrating 45 years and so this is a prude to our anniversary which will um

Take place in October so we are growing we are growing still definitely right um and we’re growing CU we’re still providing services and every day we on every year we think of having always providing something new um for the general public okay so when and where will the

Event take place okay so heartbeat walk will take place on the 24th of February um it start at 5:30 um in the afternoon um so we’ll do a warmup um and I guess we’ll have a short message um from Dr Sher tulok um because we are collaborating with them this year

Usually we have our heartbeat walk on our own um because you know February is hot month love month and we want you to get the hot pumping and but this year um we’re joining them to bring awareness to cervical cancer and so they will collaborating with the Celesta bird um

Medical Center um cervical cancer task force so the route for this walk um we’ll be starting from MBS headquarters on NE Street and then we’re going up on we’ll turn take a left onto Independence um drive then right onto cross um Street straight over to fill road then we take

A turn by West IND o and then we go on to Marble Hill and right around to North coast hardware then onto longford’s Main Road straight back onto fill Road onto C Street back to Medical benefit scheme right so um that is the route for the

Walk for the walk yes is is there a registration process that we have to go through um yes um the registration process is just basically call in um the numbers um it’s 481 6266 6352 or 6361 um to register um however I know the cervical cancer task force um they

Will be um selling shirts um they haven’t finalized everything as yet and I know persons have been calling and asking because every time we have an event they’ll ask so you have any shirts um so they’ll be I show when they get everything finalized we’ll be able to

Communicate a little bit more on um the sale of the shirts and where they can um get them right um to for ease of comfort as well to because you know safety of our participants is of utmost importance to us we’ll have the police escort with

Us of course we’ll have the ambulance um along with us th we any case of any emergency and our Mobile water services will be there as well too so if you want water on the root and also some you know some gateway to give you a little energy

Um that will be um provided and refreshments at the end um of the Walk is there a fee also attached to the registration or is it free no the registration is free okay um but as I said you know the the shirts will be by the the cervical cancer task force all

Right can let’s get into a little bit of the the benefits of this walk for for the people that are going to be joining in cuz I I know you mentioned um you know it’s heart month and we need to get the heart pumping and so on give us some

Of the little benefits that are that are involved well at MBS we always encourage persons to engage in physical activity does your body good it helps to reduce non-communicable diseases and you know if you don’t exercise you get some you know around your waistline um we put on some weight

And so that’s why we encourage um our beneficiaries um to engage in physical activity even 30 minutes a day does the body good and that’s why we put on these activities is to um get our beneficiaries you know they heart pumping um you know you lose some burn

Some calories and that’s why we do them so you find um each year we’ll have like three um sets of um physical activity like we’ll do this one for the heartbeat and then somewhere in June we’ll do a um pre Father’s Day walk and then in November we’ll do our fitness challenge

All right well give us the numbers again before we go for those who are interested in the walk and they would want to register as well okay so it’s 481 6266 481 6352 and 6361 all right well that’s all the information we need need for now I’m

Sure we’re going to see you again sometime soon as you said um the pre Father’s Day walk will be coming up so we’ll see you again soon and just before that that the free pars day walk we hoping to have a fitness Jam of yes in

Yes in May in May and that is in observance of world move for health day cuz we usually have our sneakers on the Move in May as you know so that will fall um just in line with it as well too so having your sneakers and your Fitness

So you’ll be jamming definitely the sneakers all right then well thank you so much for joining us um Miss France and we will be hearing a lot more from you coming yes you will and thank you for having me as well of course always a pleasure that was Miss Justina France

And she is the manager of the prevention unit at the medical benefits scheme and of course it’s all about their glowing and growing at 45 heartbeats walk walk so medical benefits scheme will be celebrating their 45th anniversary this year so of course we’ll be seeing a lot

Without giving you something about our black history what is Black History Month did you know that every February Americans celebrate the achievements of African-Americans throughout history this special month of reflection is called Black History Month and today we are going to learn more about what it is

And why we celebrate it every year you have probably heard the names Martin Luther King Jr Rosa Parks Malcolm X and Ruby Bridges before and learned about their roles in the Civil Rights Movement you have also probably learned about Harriet Tubman’s courage during the Civil War and her role in the

Underground Railroad but the history of African-Americans in the United States has not always been so available which is why black history month is so important to understand more about the origins of Black History Month we have to go back in time way back to the 1600s in 1619 European colonizers

Brought 20 enslaved Africans to the mainland American colonies and many historians believe that the practice of enslavement in the region began even earlier dating back to the 1500s regardless of the exact date the arrival of enslaved peoples in what would eventually become the United States began one of the most tragic

Periods of American History a period of over 200 years when African-Americans were enslaved by white people and even when enslavement or slavery was officially abolished in the United States racism and inequity continued because of this as the years went on few people studied black history School textbooks did not even contain

Information about it can you imagine having a whole section of History left out of one of your textbooks on purpose you would miss out on learning a lot of important information that you should no something needed to change in 1915 an African-American historian named Carter G Woodson made it his mission to begin

To document black history born in 1875 to formerly enslaved parents Woodson graduated from Harvard University with a doctorate degree in history he eventually became a faculty member at Howard University while there he was banned from attending annual conferences held by the American historical Association because he was black he

Realized that the mostly white historical Association had no interest in giving black people credit for advances in science technology education engineering and other fields Woodson wrote you must give your own story to the world and that is what he tried to do in 1926 Woodson started the association for

The study of negro life and history declaring the second week in February as negro history week here is an interesting fact the association chose the second week of February because of two very important people’s birthdays Frederick Douglas and Abraham Lincoln why these two well they both were instrumental in the

Abolishment or ending of enslavement in the United States born in the early 1800s Douglas was born enslaved but escaped to New York City in 1838 he became an abolitionist meaning he wanted to end the practice of enslavement he met with Abraham Lincoln many times and may have influenced Lincoln’s ideas about enslavement in

1863 President Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation which freed all enslaved people 50 years later in 1976 President Gerald Ford proclaimed that this week-long celebration of African American history be expanded to a month which is why we now celebrate black history the entire month of February Black History Month continues

To be important because it is a vital window into the past and because it gives representation to a group of Americans who still face discrimination and marginalization even today to quote the words of former president Barack Obama during the national African-American history month we recognize ize these champions of

Justice and the sacrifices they made to bring us to this point we honor the contributions of African-Americans since our country’s beginning and we recommit to reaching for a day when no person is judged by anything but the content of their character what are some ways that you can respectfully celebrate Black History

Month and what are some ways that you can be an advocate for equality and justice oh man black history just reading up and looking at some things there definitely and um let me tell you it’s powerful tell I’m a powerful man I don’t worry about the different signs I

Don’t worry about when people say this or say that you when they come to this month the about the things we celebrate within this month and again as I was just telling today it’s so funny that black people been going through these times since whenever time begin or began

From the from then till now and then we’re still doing the same things but we’re doing it amongst ourselves to each other yeah yeah we’re doing it to each other right now that’s how it is um remember I spoke about Marsha manano oh yes yeah I think if I have my picture

Way live in a better State of Mind with State Insurance Company Limited Dame Georgiana Nelly Robinson is the nation’s sole female national hero she was born on the 7th of December 1880 into the George and Margaret Robinson family of eight and spent her early childhood living on Newgate Street in a

Move that would turn out to be very significant for her Nelly was sent to the United States as a young child where she remained for most of her child childhood receiving an education in the American school system there she worked as a child nurse housew worker and

Governance from age 13 in April 1898 at the age of 18 her career as an educator began by teaching her siblings and children of some family friends those early efforts were the beginning of the T Memorial High School named after her brother Thomas Oliver Robinson who died

In his youth this was the beginning of an unforgettable and very precious teaching career that would span over the next 57 years ending in 1955 well I actually started the school the very year that Miss Nelly Robinson gave up head mistress and Miss AA loving took over

But miss Rob still used to come down and teach periodically you had to be on time she was a woman of principle if she says that so and so must be done it must be done so the children of that day the minute they heard her footsteps coming

If we were chatting or we were doing anything out of the way you make sure that when Miss Nelly appears every man is as still as a house it’s not that we were afraid of her but it’s just that we respected her in addition to her towering stature in the field of

Education the antean society also felt the presence of Miss Nelly Robinson in other important areas during World War I she was the only black woman on the mobilization committee rallying the local men to join the war effort lobbying for better living conditions for the recruits on the long SE Voyage to

Britain as a member of the water preservation Committee in 1912 she played an important role in the early efforts to expand pipe born water in the country she also led the first art and cultural Committee in Antiga thus supporting the development of Carnival in the 50s she was also one of the

Pioneers of the guides movement for girls and was an active Committee Member of the guide Association on the 25th anniversary of Independence Miss Nelly Robinson was posthumously awarded Dame champion of the most exalted order of national hero for services to education and in those days people used to say

Well whenever you got a t to work with you you knew that they came from the T because they had some respect they had that prompt um thing about them they took their work seriously you know because this is what she T she taught us wherever you go you must leave a mark

Nelly Robinson died on the 29th of April 1972 at the age of 92 He he have you ever heard of Rosa Parks Rosa had a very simple life growing up but her act of Bravery became became one of the most important events in the history of the Civil Rights Movement Rosa was born on February 4th 1913 in Tuskegee Alabama when she was a child she was

Often sick and sadly had to spend a lot of time in bed then when she was two their family moved to live with their grandparents on a farm in a town called Pine Level Rosa loved being on the farm with her family it gave her and her

Siblings lots of room to play and spend time with each other they explored the woods and streams nearby and she enjoyed the school there Rosa was safe in Pine Level but this wasn’t the case in other places in Alabama Rosa and her family were African-American and this was a time

When black people were treated poorly in Alabama they were forced to attend separate schools use separate bathrooms and to drink from different drinking fountains this is called segregation they were often called mean names or abused when Rosa was 11 she moved to Montgomery Alabama to go to a better school it was

Called the Montgomery industrial School for Girls the head of the school was a white woman named Alice white she didn’t go easy on the girls but this wasn’t because she was mean it was because she wanted them to learn and grow often people who love you do this because they

Want to see you be your best you this motivated Rosa to try her best in school and learn as much as she could she wanted to become a teacher like Miss Alice someday Rosa stayed at the school until her grandmother became sick so she moved back to Pine Level to help there she

Found jobs to help earn money for her family she worked very hard to support them when Rosa was 28 she met a young man named raymon raymon inspired her to take even more interest in the problems black black people were facing in Alabama and other places in the South he

Was part of the NAACP the National Association of the advancement of colored people Rosa was proud of Raymond’s interest in helping this cause he often put himself in danger for it Rosa and Raymond fell in love and were married in 1932 in 1934 Rosa finished high school then

Started working as a nurse’s assistant and later at an Army Air Force Base on her way home from work she rode a bus but like all African-Americans at the time she had to ride in the back of the bus it made her very upset to be treated differently she didn’t say anything at

The time but she was very angry deep inside around this time Rosa joined the nouble ACP and helped as a secretary for several years she also registered to vote at the time the government in Alabama made it very hard for black people to vote Rosa had to take a

Difficult test and pay a tax that was very expensive when she was finally able to vote she was very happy but also upset that so many of her friends and family were prevented from voting Rosa worked very hard for her family through these years and continued to help the

NAACP she was never able to have her own children but helped the youth through the NAACP she wanted them to have good lives and took the time to take care of them to get to and from work Rosa rode the bus every day like other buses in Alabama this one was segregated which

Means anyone who was black had to enter the bus from the back and sit at the back this day Rosa took courage and got on the bus through the front the driver told her to get off and get on through the back Rosa refused the driver told

Her to get off again she said she would not the driver grabbed her by the coat and pulled her towards the front of the bus she sat down again the driver continued to yell at her Rosa finally got off the bus but she had stood up for

Herself and made her point in 1954 Rosa made friends with a white woman named Virginia Durr who wanted to help her and other African-Americans Virginia encouraged Rosa to attend a workshop in Tennessee that trained people to fight for equal rights for blacks and workers who were treated unfairly people of all Races and

Different states came together to learn how to make the world a better place there she met Martin Luther King and Adam Clayton Powell Jr a black congressman from New York City there she began thinking about ways to fight racism in her own City on December 1st 1955 Rosa left home to catch the

Cleveland Avenue bus to go to work on that note ladies and gentlemen we’re going to leave you right here with that beautiful black historical message and you get them each and every day remember every funi High pepper pepp every funi High pepper pot that’s the local for today there’s somebody for
