Here, he led groundbreaking research in mitochondrial transporters, molecular enzymology, and mammalian metabolism. In 1975, he assumed the role of founding professor and chairman of the Department of Clinical Biochemistry at Oxford, holding this prestigious post until 1993. Recognized for his contributions, Randle was knighted in 1975 and elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1983.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Randle’s personal life included a marriage to Elizabeth Harrison and four children.
