Hi all! I’m looking for a new commuter bike (RIP to my old beater Univega 😣) – I commute between 15-35 miles per week on hilly roads (lots of steep downhills) and also ride casually on the weekends for errands and such, nothing too crazy.

I’m currently trying to decide between a 2018 Jamis Coda Sport ([specs link](https://www.jamisbikes.com/new_pdf/18_codasport.pdf)) and (I think?) a 2004 Trek SL 1500 ([info](https://99spokes.com/bikes/trek/2004/1500)). Both are second-hand and selling for $200. Pics of both bikes from the seller: https://imgur.com/a/Q3PPbb4

I’m not very bike-savvy at all and would love to hear y’all’s thoughts. Are the bikes reasonably priced? and if so, should I just go for the ‘newer’ Jamis since I’ve been burned by older/fixer-upper bikes before?? Or should I keep looking? Also may be worth noting that I’ve never owned a road bike before and am slightly intimidated by the curved handlebars. Thanks in advance for any wise words!
