I finally did it, I purchased this beautiful Aeroad after much deliberation. I’ve come close on several occasions, originally with the original stealth coloured CF SLX 8 during the stealth sale, then with a new stealth (dark grey) or silver CF SLX 7 105. I was watching the site constantly and could’ve picked up the 105 but dragged my feet waiting to see if they’d update the Ultegra version, which they did.
Decided on this for a couple reasons,
1) It’s a new colour.
2) Power meter crank. Pro – run any pedals, Con – Not as transferable between bikes.
3) I like the silver/black contrast and metallic paint.
I was recently in California and had the opportunity to view and try a tonne of road bikes, top prospects were the new Supersix evo, Madone, Ultimate. All these had their pros and cons but value for money, fit, looks, etc had me sold on an Aeroad.
This bike is a large jump up from my current bike, a Specialized Sirrus X 2.0 but I’ve made cycling a part of my life. I’m around 6’ 4” with 90 cm inseam, was 283 lbs when I started cycling everyday at the start of April 23. I’m currently around 224 lbs, I told myself if I could get to 220 lbs I’d get the bike I wanted, jumped the gun a bit but it was delivered a couple weeks early. Ideally think I’d like to end up around 200 lbs.
