I have a suntour XC pro rear hub but I’m confused about the freehub body spacing and whether or not it can be 8 speed compatible.
Currently my free hub looks like pic number one. However, most Suntour hubs I see look like pic number two. My free hub appears to be shorter. Both are advertised as 7 speed compatible and neither are typically advertised as 8 speed compatible.
From what I’ve read, this short bodied freehub appears to be micro drive compatible. But I can’t tell if it’s 7 speed microdrive specific, or if it can be used with non MD or with only MD.
Finally, my last question. If this short freehub doesn’t accept 8 speed cassettes, is it possible to swap from an XC comp that has the longer freehub body?
