“No person shall cause or permit any motor vehicle to enter, proceed or wait on the contra-flow cycle lane specified in the Schedule to this Order other than for the purposes of crossing it.”

The Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2002 UK Statutory Instruments 2002 No. 3113 PART I SECTION 1 Regulation 4

“cycle lane” means a part of the carriageway of a road which—
(a)starts with the marking shown in diagram 1009; and
(b)is separated from the rest of the carriageway—
(i)if it may not be used by vehicles other than pedal cycles, by the marking shown in diagram 1049;
