I’m struck by all the black/navy/dark winter tops out there, and especially rain gear. Conditions and viz in the northeast seem definitely shit. But am I thinking about it wrong, and with proper lights, an orange or yellow jacket isn’t much different than a navy one?

Specifically, I found a really good deal on [this Pedaled jacket](https://pedaled.com/us_en/men-waterproof-cycling-jacket-element-black), but only in the black. I’d much prefer the khaki or light green (also just my personal aesthetic).

Have folks ever regretted having darker rain kit, maybe had a close call, or feel like their higher viz (but I’m not looking at, like, the neon jackets, either, TBC, just light colors) helped avoid something nasty? Or are lights and my white helmet going to do enough a trick, and a jacket won’t really matter when it comes to shit conditions or careless drivers?
