HI r/MTB
I am a new rider from the North Shore of Vancouver. I live on Seymour mountain and I walk my dog on the trails every day. After 3 years of watching you all I decided I had to try riding and I fell in love with it. I have been renting from a local shop but it isn’t cheap so I have decided that it is time to purchase a bike. My budget is under $3k and I would prefer new as I have no idea what to look for in a used bike. A friend recommended [this bike](https://www.norco.com/bikes/mountain/trail/fluid-fs/2023-fluid-fs-a3/). What are you thoughts – is this a good beginner bike at a good price? Is there any other bike you would recommend?

Also, any one local to the area.. is there something I am doing wrong. I cannot for the life of me even make it half way up old buck without having to get off and push. I am fat and old but in fairly good shape. I seriously cant even nearly make it up all the way.. Any tips would be warmly received.
