This is the 1st episode of our full documentary of our 20 days cycling tour from the Netherlands to Trento. We’ve cycled 959km in 7 countries, being The Netherlands, Germany, France, Austria, Switzerland, Liechtenstein and Italy.
In a period of 3 weeks, we’re travelling to Trento in the North of Italy. We cycle as much as possible and take the train where needed. We combine the following existing well defined routes
• EuroVelo 15 (The Rhine route);
• Through Black Forests (from Paul Benjaminse);
• Cycling to Venice (from Paul Benjaminse);
• In combination with and completed by using our own self-defined tracks.
In the 2nd episode we have a magnificent train ride through the Alpes over the Berninapass, and enter into Italy. Along the beautiful lakes of North Italy (Lake Como, Lake Iseo, Lake Garda) we finally reach Trento.

There we take the train to ca we combine euroo 15 the Rin route the route through black forests all the way to the Bowden Z into Switzerland and lonstein The city of denter first city on our way to trento in the north of Italy the river ISO and as you can see there is some fog this morning but it will be more sunny and quite warm so happy to be cycling in the fog so far We’re in Germany now second day of the tour to trento from here there’s no difference between the Netherlands and Germany I would almost say of course so German beer stba we are gotten it’s a little bit too early for that now so uh we’ll find another one definitely yeah Water y mster after our second day crossing the city of mster looking for a camping Site during the second world war the city of Minster was heavily bombed by the Allied Forces it has been rebuilt it’s looking very very nice but you can still see that it’s not originally old Unfortunately the old city of Wister even though it’s not so old anymore but it looks old that’s as you can see it’s quite hot people are swimming in the canal over there as well it’s over 30° and we’re cycling out out of the city of
Minster another 3 km to the cing side so almost there third day of our tour we just took the train from Minster to kazua and we cycled roughly 15 km and here is the River Ry and we’re going to the other side to France so from Germany to France
Um stay there maybe for one day and then we go into the black forest so that’s a a nice let’s say addition to the trip before we continue to Switzerland and lonstein and all of That Here’s the the border with France bar that’s not bahin but it’s a province of France that we’re now entering below R oh and it’s beautiful we’re cycling the AO euroo it’s all Eurovision contest 50 uh 15 uh all of that it looks it looks like slightly boring but it’s nice Green This is that uh uh yeah I don’t know I don’t remember the name of the The Village yes a mother yeah mod this is just the village in France on the other side of the river rine and it looks very different very beautiful all those typical houses we go to the left oh
But looking at the um some signs it could be they are also talking German here so we’ll we’ll find out about it they had a beer fest also so it’s it’s not completely FR francin I would almost say so uh let’s see we’ll tell you more about It we’re in France lots of flowers lots of activities for the environment cleaning of the water it’s great to be here hey Co l oh and nice Houses it was great to be back in France and cycling in this area having the French atmosphere and the the bread and the houses and the language and all of that it was great because we’ve a lot of experience in France and during this trip to trento we could take another
Look into France which was Great and then we’re back in Germany after one day cycling in France we’re crossing the river Ry again and in the and the on the horizon you can see the black forest and we’re we’re cycling today to kale and that’s on the start of the black wood black forest forest yeah so
Uh tomorrow we’ll cycling into them and hope we see to hope to see more of them trying to find our way close to the German France border this seem to be the route but that looks great we go left B now why am I talking German because we’re in Germany but this is Black Forest in we’re in Offenburg and the start of the black L Forest so this is Offenburg at the western part of the black forest and we’re now going into the black forest um yeah really look looking forward to
That it’s uh I’ve been there when I was a child I think but um not since then so I’m looking forward to explore it again so Irma where are we now we are in Germany Germany in the shatal Black Forest the Black Forest yeah it’s a start you can see the
They’re entering the black for exactly there’s a nice Castle over there Castle on the hill it’s not a really PR pretty road yet but just to show you the the start of the the mountains yeah we go to the left there’s a lot of fruit here and uh some vegetables it’s not a
Huge agricultural environment and it makes it much Cozier I would say here we’re cycling the predefined route through the black forest of PA Benjamin it is a route that starts in mastr in the Netherlands and goes all the way to lindow this route can be the
Start of a much longer route all the way to Rome or in Bavaria but we’re only taking it to get into Swit another nice city in the black forest very beautiful nice houses wow look at that the bakery restaurants shops all looking very beautiful and old now we’re impressed by the uh Black Forest so far we definitely are I look at those houses I continue a little bit and then
Return to the uh for lunch wow gang and B in the Black Forest s out again convinced that it’s a beautiful area Here H yeah and I’m could be through think you yeah look at the gate and there’s a kiny grill house but it’s in a beautiful building bow H in the Black Forest it’s very Charming it’s small they have their small gardens they produce their own food it’s uh it looks very
Relaxing and until now it’s it is cycling here and chestnuts chestnuts many many chestnuts yeah it’s we like it so far definitely K the river that we’re following here most of the time that yeah too and you can see the beautiful View again a very nice small town and as you can see it’s again a beautiful Old City how you lingam the river kiny yeah B last place we’re heading to for the camping SP Place nice isn’t it again a confirmation of the very lovely and beautiful villages in the black forest
We’re getting further and further into the black forest the roads are getting a little bit steeper but it’s still okay but the mountains are so beautiful green following a river yeah and a railway track H nice dropper dropper Dropper second day in the black forest and as you can see the weather is great again we’re cycling from 300 M up to 800 but it’s beautiful up here sweating all over but it’s beautiful Green Hills it’s not too steep that’s nice this is a quite a steep
Part going to the total of 800 m above sea level the sign across the road gave 12% 12% or not uh the bike says 10 oh [Applause] 10 on top of the Black Forest roof black of top of the world huh so we’re uh hopefully cycling the last part up of the uh of the part it’s going to the highest point in this area of the
Black forest from in the western part there are rivers like the kiny and they’re all floating into the Ry River and then all the way to the North Sea but here you have the water separation and that means that uh we’re now going hopefully down in a minute to go to the
Bach and um that is the let’s say the one of the two flows that is combined find in um Dono shingan where they all say that the uh K the origin of the Dono is but in fact two small um rivers are coming together there forming the Dono Dan and uh we’re now
Going down to one of them so finally going to the other side of the the water separation within the Black Forest so I was looking for the English word of a small River in Germany it’s Bak a creek creek a creek oh we’ll use the creek Okay this is what we like this is how we like it we went all the way up to 850 M and then now we’re going down to one of the two Creeks that will form the danu in do Sho and we’re going fast and we’re going
Down here on the left you see the very small stream and that’s um one of the two Creeks that’s forming the danu um it maybe 20 30 20 km 30 km in dona shingan but here it’s a very very small Creek and uh it’s incredible to
Understand or to see how big this River gets further down the stream and we’ cycled it last year from Vienna via Budapest to belr so it’s uh but it all start here in the mountains of the Black Forest so another 30 km to do today and
Uh we we like it so much in the Black Forest it’s green it’s quiet cozy yeah we really love it being here oh feeling ining in again a beautiful city in the black forest To Have here the denu it’s early in the morning we’re cycling in the Black Forest then you in its early stage just a few kilometers after the start of it so and Cofe so this is the way you cycle along the denu very relaxed very easy very easy nice and green a wide
Valley small moues on the ground on the path and uh but it won’t be for long because in a few kilometers we’ll turn right to go to the Ry area again Hello up IA don’t want to go further look at this view so we’re Up good morg On the other side the island of K now in the golden Lake in we go get by Boat yeah Co do yeah All right guys so this is constant and this is the river Ry again and we’re going from one side to the other and the northern side is newer and the southern side that we’re now heading towards it’s the out the older City and we’re definitely looking for a cup of coffee and
Something together with it so again the river rine that we followed earlier this holiday and it’s flowing through the Bowden Z Lake Bowden in the driving yeah we’re not going into Switzerland yet might be one of two days was of coffee fish paradise then Minster and here are the old Roman
Stones you can’t see them very well but just uh they’re there and they’re very old we us yeah I go yeah C in Germany at the B super very nice here they invited the guy all the way here and then is it nice or is it nice tailing boats view on Constance here bord Z and it’s difficult to see but in the far ends there are the Alps ferry to the other side of uh Bowden
Lake lake Bowden Bowden Z this is significant F lots of cars trucks cyclists yeah oh I like to of the That’s myle this is the tour on the B and the back you can see the Alps B and uh beautiful weather as you can see and very nice cycle Here uh there are worse places to go too yeah yeah I am yeah Happ CH it is in uh out sport the Met paring V olymp yeah it looks subtropical isn’t doesn’t it Yeah they’re producing a liquid here that they used grapes for they have it in white and Rosé and red and I think you know by now what it is it’s wine nice nice nice so not just beer in Germany but also why hope it’s good not too sweet we’ll try to find it Out E One more Yeah very two saplings Fre gra Zeppelin that was the graph I was talking German why not Lake Bowden Lindo Swiss mountains this is so beautiful so so well that the uh the spb is he because of the trains it was indicated that the roads can be blocked for up to 15 minutes or
So and I assume it’s because of the frequent trains that are coming fees Yeah [Applause] so we’re in lindow one of the last places in Germany on this tour and then we’ll go to Austria and Switzerland and as you can see it is very very beautiful here lots of people who are Jo enjoying here and um the mountains are coming up over
There and there’s a lot of traffic with boats between Switzerland Austria and Germany Here I think they spent some time painting this house and they Succeeded so we’re now in Austria very unexpected just suddenly there’s a little sign indicating Republic Austria This is still Austria but in our 5 6 kilm we’ll be in Switzerland and look at the skyline isn’t that nice that’s these are the mountains that we’ll be going to tomorrow so really looking forward to that we just cycled three days along the bden
Z and on the left side you see the mountains and there the origin of the river rine that we’re now Crossing and that means that at the end here the rain is entering the Bowen Z and then go to the under Z and then in the direction of sha
Housen all the way to the rest of Germany and the Netherlands so uh this is a Rew Welcome To The River R during this trip we take all our luggage with us on the bikes and that enables to use camping sites and we have have our own chairs and we have our own
Cooking gear and we have everything to be comfortable and being on our own and being independent and cook our own food Irma where are we now somewhere in h yes and with and and yeah so the upcoming and beautiful mountains we had a lot of rain this morning but it’s slightly better now
Now and in uh roughly a kilometer or so we’ll be entering lonstein we’ve never been there before and after lonstein will continue towards Switzerland lart and then we’ll take the train over the Alps tomorrow morning to go to Tano in Italy but first of all we have beautiful mountains here with
Clouds if you have a bad day and there’s rain and you can’t see the mountains and you explicitly wanted to take this route because of the mountains it can all happen What cannot happen is that you’re entering a country you’ve never been we’re actually now in lonstein and there was no bloody
Sign nothing at all nothing at all so we can’t prove it so we’re in lakstein without the proof okay well well we’ll still trying to find a proof and show it to you picture and probably the DPS will show it in ah yeah yeah we can do that okay okay to be
Continued short impression of cycling in [Applause] Lenin beautiful mountains look at that there is sun over there hopefully it gets better today but at least it’s a perfect Mountain View The capital of lonstein futs and we’re crossing lonstein from north to south south to North no north to south and uh I think it’s 28 km or so so we get glance of this very small country yeah yeahoo this is so yellow I think this is the L yeah first tombs Lenin The clock of this church has the colors of the uh of the country lonstein very nice detail it is and now we continue our cycling tour towards Switzerland so there’s the river again we’ll stay on the lakstein side the other side is Switzerland you can see the flag the flag over there
Yeah and the mountains are Switzerland already and on the left side those mountains I think are Austria so it’s lonstein is a very small country but at least we’ve seen it even when you feel low you can still go even when you feel slow you can still
