My office is about 12 min ride by bike from where I live with about 600-700m of uphill. I live in Brussels hence there are a few uphill roads around the city. I would like to get a bike which is not too hard on the wallet hence I have narrowed down to two bikes:
1. Trek FX 1 Disc [https://www.trekbikes.com/be/nl\_BE/fietsen/hybride-fietsen/fitness-fietsen/fx/fx-1-disc/p/35001/](https://www.trekbikes.com/be/nl_BE/fietsen/hybride-fietsen/fitness-fietsen/fx/fx-1-disc/p/35001/)
2. Decathalon Elops Speed 920 [https://www.decathlon.be/nl/p/snelle-stadsfiets-elops-speed-920-zwart/\_/R-p-309917?mc=8560610&c=ZWART](https://www.decathlon.be/nl/p/snelle-stadsfiets-elops-speed-920-zwart/_/R-p-309917?mc=8560610&c=ZWART)
By the name and function, Elops looks like a much faster bike and maybe easier on uphills. However, I have no clue about Trek FX 1 in terms of how fast it is and how easy it is to use it on uphill roads. Elops although has the more inclined position and hence may not be comfortable for longer riding. FX 1 that way looks very comfortable. I am not sure how comfortable it would be to ride Elops with a heavy backpack.
Another factor here is that roads in Brussels are shit. There are many small potholes and is very uneven.
Any advice would be welcome with other recommendations 🙂
