London Road, Leicester, UK…..The driver, or registered keeper, has been sent a warning letter by the police. If there are any similar allegations in the future and their standard of driving has not improved, a prosecution is more likely.
Rule H3 of the Highway Code:
You should not cut across cyclists, horse riders or horse drawn vehicles going ahead when you are turning into or out of a junction or changing direction or lane, just as you would not turn across the path of another motor vehicle.
Even though this is a ‘should’ rather than a ‘must’ rule, people on bicycles are still incredibly vulnerable compared to people in cars who are protected by 2 two tonnes on metal. The driver here clearly knew I was there, they just didn’t care.
