There’s a lot of used bromptons for sale where I live so I’m going to check out the used market first as some of these look like they are in great shape.
I won’t consider anything before 2004 since that was when they changed the wheelbase.
Naturally one assumes to try to buy as new as possible but sometimes that’s not the case when companies try to cut corners, experiment, have patent issues, partnerships are created/broken, etc. So, has the C Line (6 speed) Brompton truly gotten progressively better or was there any year where people were like WOAH AWESOME ADDITION or vice-versa a year where Brompton made a bad change and people were like WOAH WHY DID YOU DO THAT??
[This reddit post](https://www.reddit.com/r/Brompton/comments/16da1cz/comment/jzo95bs/?share_id=129PTyPytgfu_uJzoGANW&utm_content=2&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_source=share&utm_term=1) greatly details the changes but it doesn’t make any comments about if these changes were net positive or negative. For example, I see dynamo replacements for 2019 and 2010, and Brompton changed their seat post from aluminum to steel. I don’t know if people were happy or sad about these changes.
I’ll mention that I am very concerned about compatibility with aftermarket accessories. I see in 2017 Brompton made new stems for M and H models along with new bars and new under-bar-shifters so maybe that affected some after market accessory compatibility?
The ONE [modification](https://youtu.be/-Q9wd8Ewlec?si=dxfOPLI-HXby4C2t&t=176) I will make sure to do on the Brompton I buy is add the [H&H BCD130 54/33T 50/33T Unibody CNC Duo-Chainring for Brompton Bicycle](https://www.fantastic4toys.com/products/h-h-bcd130-54-33t-unibody-cnc-duo-chainring-for-brompton-bicycle) because where I bike tour is very hilly so whichever one I get MUST be compatible with this.
Thanks for any input guys!
