Replacing my brake pads is a task long overdue. I noticed a grinding sound on my last ride and thought it was a pebble in my pad, but now that it’s off I can see the whole pad is shimmery with metal powder and there are a few chunks of metal. Is that just from a pebble grinding up my wheel? Or were there somehow metal bits in my pad and I wore the pad down enough to expose them? The bike is from 2009 and I hope the pads aren’t original, they are very crumbly when you pick at them though.
