[CYCLING] Czech Republic to Austria and Back in One Day l Iron Curtain Trail ICT EuroVelo 13

This spring of 2021 was the second time I crossed the Czech-Austrian border by bike (the first time was in 2019 from Znojmo to Vienna). Cycled 46 km in one afternoon of splendid weather, from South Bohemia to Lower Austria and back. Our route mainly followed the Iron Curtain Trail, also known as EuroVelo 13 or EV13, which overlaps partially with the Thayarunde Radweg named after the River Thaya/Dyje. The Iron Curtain Trail is a long-distance bicycle route along the former Iron Curtain, the full length of which will be over 9,000 km once the trail is completed. During the period of the Cold War (c. 1947-1991), the Iron Curtain delineated the border between the Communist East and the capitalist West.
