Hi folks,
I’m looking at putting together a bikepacking system that allows me to do also do some remote hiking. The idea being that I bike to within 5km (\~3 miles) of a hike and then hike the rest of the way in.
Part of that means I carry a daybag with me. I have my eye on a Hyperlite Mountain Gear Elevate 22L bag ([https://www.hyperlitemountaingear.com/products/elevate-22](https://www.hyperlitemountaingear.com/products/elevate-22)). What I would like to do is use this bag as one of my bags on my bikepacking rig. The best way thus far seems to be to use some kind of rack on the bike to be able to strap the bag to.
What I would like to explore instead is perhaps to be able to rig the bag as a seat bag, which leads me to Revelate Designs Terrapin ([https://www.revelatedesigns.com/index.cfm/store.catalog/seat-bags/TerrapinSystem14L](https://www.revelatedesigns.com/index.cfm/store.catalog/seat-bags/TerrapinSystem14L)). The idea I have is that I could substitute the 14L Terrapin bag for the 22L Hyperlight one. I would pack the bag for bikepacking use so it would fit the bag holder, and then re-pack the bag for hiking, is the idea I have for it.
Has anyone done something like this before? Is there another seat bag holder that would work better than the Terrapin? Is there something I’m missing that would make this absolutely not work?
Thanks for your insights.
