From the get-go we are at the mercy of the relentless Icelandic wind. Riding into the Westfjords means breathtaking landscapes and vistas but also the seemingly endless ins and outs of the fjords. Wind & Fjords = Hard Work! After a brutal day of cold headwind we get lucky and find a hidden gem camping to shelter in the most relaxing and typical way…

  1. We knew Iceland was going to be a demanding place to ride. It certainly was and still we enjoyed every bit of it. We are already talking about the next time we want to visit. A pretty good indication of having a good time we think. Do you have a place like that you want to revisit sooner than later? Thanks for watching & Have a great day, E&M

  2. Something I wonder what would happen could happen if Iceland is ten times bigger and 95% of the country is useful for agriculture or to live there.

Not only that Iceland would still speak Old Norse the Viking language doesn't go extinct.

Iceland area: 396,820 population 99,000,000 1.26% of the world population
    Demographics 99.999% white

Not only that I would love to have Greenland be more livable.

From the 900s to 1450 Vikings lived there but the land became more useless for agriculture and to live there.

I wonder what if Greenland is useful for agriculture and the Scandinavians/Baltics didn't leave Greenland

Greenland population 233,000,000 2.99% of the world population
    Demographics
    Non-Hispanic White 98%
    228,340,000
    Ethnic Groups
    Danes 40% 91,336,000
    German 25% 57,085,000
    Norwegian 20% 45,668,000
    Irish 11% 25,117,400
    Swedish 3% 6,850,200
    Other 2% 4,566,800

    Native Greenlander 1.50%
    Inuits 99%
    Other 0.50%

    GREENLAND CULTURE
Greenland is a Christian majority country and is mostly Protestant Lutheran majority denomination.

Most Greenlanders speak Old Norse in this fictional timeline.

Greenland is a agriculture majority economy.

    Taxes are smaller.

The Inuits have their own autonomous community and need permission to enter like the Aboriginals in Australia.

The Inuits have their own education system and government in parts of Greenland.

Most Greenlanders have guns especially in the remote areas and the country side because of the polar bears.

Greenland recognize Israel and have a embassy in Tel Aviv.

Greenland still is Danish territory and uses Krones as currency.

  3. Hi guys, unbelievable, this trip. Although you decided yourselves to do this we really feel sorry for you sometimes travelling in these weatherconditions. Crazy. But….again fabulous footage of this magnificent country. In 2006 we travelled around by car and hiked a week in the center. Good luck Henk & Lucie.

  6. As a long-time watcher of Wheels to Wander I could pick many things that make the channel unique, especially how you convey a sense of magic and true appreciation of beauty, where many just don't really feel those things. Regarding this video, Maudi's direct and honest words at the end are so appreciated. Great videos for lots of reasons – thank you both.

  7. Hello Maudi, exactly what you said at the end of the video is what comes across so strongly in your videos. Thank you both for the many beautiful moments, Bernhard

  8. Good to see wide landscape & Maudi s strength of pushing🫡. As always you're videos are inspiring for me. I pray in God to travel more by giving strength and wealth to both of you. Take care Eric & Maudi brother ❤️❤️

  9. Congratulations for you two brave cyclists for your courage on this trip! I am happy you could enjoy also some relaxing moments like in the hot bath tube!
Safe travels for you in 2023!

  10. Great edit job. Do you find the drone shots take a lot of time out of your riding time? I also love your map animations Can you tell me what you are using for them?

  11. Who needs Netflix and Chill when you’ve got YouTube and Thrill with Eric and Maudi, the world and the internets most amazing couple! 🥰. I started on your very first episode over Christmas and have watched every video up to this one. Finally, up to date! I’ll be anxiously awaiting every new video from here on. 🙂

  12. When I was a kid I thought if you went to Iceland you were frozen immediately! It still looks pretty cold. I plan to do this ride in the summer only.

  13. I agree when I biked Iceland I had unrealistic romantic ideas about how it would go. In reality it was a bigger pain in the ass than it was a pleasure. Next time, if I go I will do it in a car.

  14. Just finished watching all your episodes up to now 👍👍👍👍👍 Yes I’m now up to date 🤗🤗. Wow, What a bloody incredible adventure you both have done and still are doing 💪💪💪💪💪💪💪 It just keeps getting better and better. Let me say to the little lady, You rock 💪 you really do 💪💪💪. When you both get to Australia 🇦🇺 (Victory) Look me up, Your adventures adventure will start then 🤗🤗 Stay safe and see you both in the next video and Thank you both for the hard work you both put in to make these videos and travel around on push bikes. Your both just incredible 👍

  15. You guys are amazing. I've also seen all your episodes from "cycling the world" and that was really amazing. I'm only 13 but one day, I'll certainly travel round the world too. Keep it up.

  16. Another superb video, what an epic adventure you guys are sharing with us. That wind was just off the scale! A wonderful closing scenery clip with I think Maudi cycling through a landscape that was just jaw-droppingly awesome. Great music selection as well. 👏👌

  17. I was so envious when you said that life becomes simpler with the focus being on food, shelter and water with the noise of the world being lost to your journey. Whether intended or not that comment was so profound and really gives bike touring a purpose👍

  18. I’m glad to see such honesty and frankness as far as the weather! I’ve seen other videos of Iceland, and although I know the weather there can change in an instant, it’s refreshing to see you just be honest about it! 🙂

  19. I didn’t think I’d like the Island video but it’s really pretty. Sorry about the wind. I see you guys picked up quilted jackets, just alike – you’re twins.

  20. Great video as always. Love your positive attitude, even when its grimm. Amazed you could get your drone to fly when it was so windy. PS my favourite places to go back to are Taiwan and France (also Scotland – some of which Iceland reminded me of)
