Lanna Kingdom Bikepacking Day 1
After 3 days of exploring Chiang Mai and having the opportunity to visit the Yi Peng festival, we finally started our bikepacking trip.
Simpsons and I, we started around 10am while Lo started off a bit later as he had to send his parents and sister + niece off to the airport first. First day we aimed for approx 60km towards the Jungle Float and Camping at Mae Taeng.
The whole trail was pretty flat and after exiting the bustling city, it was a pretty sight with village roads, paddy fields and simply beautiful nature. Had lots of stops taking photos and also getting drinks and food along the way.
Weather was pretty alright that day and by early afternoon we reached the camping site and found the owner staying nearby, which she then brought us over and set the place up for us. We proceeded to set up tent and washed up before riding to a nearby place to have dinner and stock up food for breakfast the next day.
And oh, we had a chance to see elephants crossing the river near evening time just before it got dark. What a sight!

How many kilo this like just just finished with uh packing our stuff today finalizing everything on our bicycle so we had breakfast early in the morning so uh in sh will be leaving starting our bike packing trip today uh Dr L will be a bit late
Because he uh he has to see his parents and the sister office at the airport so yeah excited but uh yeah our bikes are really heavy we’ll see how it goes all right okay more to come Later Okay just ready it’s about 935 going to start our journey here um actually from hotel Mayu we need to ride to the Tafe gate if I pronounce it correctly uh that’s in the Oldtown and then from there on we’ll we’ll continue with the trail uh the one that’s planned by by new and
Sam so we’re going to the trail head over there and then we continue the ride from there on and then we’re going to do about 60 km today and uh going towards the uh elephant float and camping site all Right H See I think this area is getting a bit outskilled already so less cars here you get a few of a village a bit more and a bit more trees it’s not as crowded as the town area so it’s pretty good now it’s about 10:30 Morning Sun is up a bit warm but
Not too bad the brieze is nice and uh going to go about 60 km today so just take it slow before we reach the camping site all Right This is going to The Villages ready oh Nice this is uh just at the Village area just sto by here to take a photo of this green pasture not sure if this is a pedi uh yeah it’s getting a bit hotter now okay just continue on this this is such a beautiful route here passing by small
Canal and uh these little houses lots of plants around and it’s really peaceful here unlike the town area so yeah amazing How what the Car a this is beautiful this is very nice going inside this uh interior roads Beautiful changai is really blessed with lots of beautiful Trails like This Stting a bit hot now but still not as bad as Malaysia heat is still barable it’s quite empty here this off-road section is okay back on the road again uh beautiful fields around me lovely Village Area Car Okay just had a meal at the roadside uh little cafe oh the auntie’s Curry me was superb so delicious really really nice the chicken that she gave me was two drumsticks and it was uh really soft really nice and uh yeah good Choice coming back to the main road so it’s about uh 40 plus km already another about uh 15 perhaps to the camping site all right He [Applause] turn Right you have arve W this is beautiful so it’s about 3:20 in the afternoon just reached the camping site this is by the river so yeah still quiet here and the place is uh not open yet so not sure maybe a bit later yeah waiting for Simpson and low
To arrive then we shall see how to set up our tents and yeah then we need to look for a place to eat so this is the river I don’t think we can take a bath inside there not sure but they are they have uh shower rooms and also bathrooms there
Provided okay so that concludes the ride for today about 61 km good it was uh quite nice flat all the way uh except the last I think about 10 km or so a bit of Rolling Hills not too bad yeah weather’s so okay not too hot still bearable yeah all right ah here
