Ovu kršku formaciju čine tornjevi, stupovi i pukotine. Južnim podnožjem grebena prevladava travnati dolac – Dolac poda Tulom.

Tulo beams (Tulo, Tulovice) are a karst phenomenon on Velebit. They are located in the Velebit Nature Park. Tulove beams are a rocky ridge of extremely steep hips built of limestone rocks, about 1 km long, and with the highest peak 1120 m above sea level. This karst formation consists of towers, pillars and cracks (grooves, grindstones). The southern foot of the ridge is dominated by grassy dolac – Dolac floor Tula.

Velebit is the biggest, though not the highest, mountain range in Croatia. The range forms a part of the Dinaric Alps and is located along the Adriatic coast, separating it from Lika in the interior. Velebit begins in the northwest near Senj with the Vratnik mountain pass and ends 145 km to the southeast near the source of the Zrmanja river northwest of Knin.

Velebit je širine od 10 do 30 km, a površina mu je oko 2200 km2, a najviši vrh Vaganski vrh (1.757 m). Pripada Dinarskome gorju.

Majstorska Cesta is a historical road along Velebit Mt., NW of Sveti Rok, preserved in its original state since opening in 1832 and therefore added to the cultural heritage list of the Republic of Croatia in 2007. The road passes through sedimentary rocks ranging in age from Upper Carboniferous to Upper Paleogene, i.e. from 315 Ma until approx. 25 Ma old rocks (a time span of 290 Ma). These are mostly well exposed limestones and dolomites, sporadically clastics. Such rocks build up not only Velebit Mt., but also the entire Karst Dinarides. As such, they represent a unique natural museum important not only for the Croatian landscape, but also for all countries with shallow marine carbonates in the Mediterranean Region and wider, i.e. areas of Mexico, the Caribbean, along mountains like the Atlas, the Pyreneans, the Alps, the Carpathians, the Dinarides, the Helenides, the Pontides, the Taurides, the Iranides and the Himalayas. The most important geological feature is a section from Mali Alan Saddle to Tulove Grede Ridge. It is a continuous section along the Jurassic carbonates, typical for the Karst Dinarides, of stratigraphic period from Hettangian to Middle Tithonian (201.3-148 Ma), comprising the typical (index) fossils and complete geological rock sections, including contact between Jurassic and Triassic rocks.

Throughout the 1960’s (1963-1968), legendary movies about the adventures of the Indian Apache chief Winnetou, based on Karl May’s novels, were filmed in Croatia, among others in this location. As many as 7 out of 11 Winnetou films were shot close to Starigrad-Paklenica which subsequently became a favourite destination of fans of Karl May’s novels and Winnetou films, and the beautiful filming locations are perfectly preserved in all their glory.
