Do Swedes keep riding their bikes in the winter? They most certainly do! I have seen people cycling during all weather conditions, even at extemely low temperatures.

Stockholm during the winter is characterized by a constant layer of either snow or ice, or the so called “slusk”, a nasty mixture of snow, water and ice. With the temperatures most usually being around 0°C and the specific topography, which is a bit hilly, ice can become a big problem. However, winter tires with spikes can make everything a bit better.

Remember, it is not the days with very low temperatures that are difficult for riding a bike. It is those days where the temperatures are near 0°C…that is the real challenge! 🙂
