Copenhagen is the capital and most populous city of Denmark, with a population of around 660,000 in the municipality and 1.4 million in the urban area.[10][11] The city is on the islands of Zealand and Amager, separated from Malmö, Sweden, by the Oresund strait. The Oresund Bridge connects the two cities by rail and road.
Originally a Viking fishing village established in the 10th century in the vicinity of what is now Gammel Strand, Copenhagen became the capital of Denmark in the early 15th century. From the 17th century, it became a regional centre of power with its institutions, defences, and armed forces. During the Renaissance the city was the de facto capital of the Kalmar Union and the seat of monarchy, governing most of the present day Nordic region in a union with Sweden and Norway ruled by the Danish monarch serving as the head of state. The city flourished as the cultural and economic centre of Scandinavia under the union for over 120 years, from the 15th century until the early 16th century when Sweden left the union through a rebellion. After a plague outbreak and fire in the 18th century, the city underwent redevelopment. This included construction of the prestigious district of Frederiksstaden and founding cultural institutions including the Royal Theatre and the Royal Academy of Fine Arts. After disasters in the early 19th century when Horatio Nelson attacked the Dano-Norwegian fleet and bombarded the city, rebuilding during the Danish Golden Age brought a Neoclassical look to Copenhagen’s architecture. After the Second World War, the Finger Plan fostered the development of housing and businesses along the five urban railway routes emanating from the city centre.
Since the turn of the 21st century, Copenhagen has seen strong urban and cultural development, facilitated by investment in its institutions and infrastructure. The city is the cultural, economic and governmental centre of Denmark; it is one of the major financial centres of Northern Europe with the Copenhagen Stock Exchange. Copenhagen’s economy has developed rapidly in the service sector, especially through initiatives in information technology, pharmaceuticals and clean technology. Since the completion of the Øresund Bridge, Copenhagen has increasingly integrated with the Swedish province of Scania and its largest city, Malmö, forming the Øresund Region. With several bridges connecting the various districts, the cityscape is characterised by parks, promenades, and waterfronts. Copenhagen’s landmarks such as Tivoli Gardens, The Little Mermaid statue, the Amalienborg and Christiansborg palaces, Rosenborg Castle, Frederik’s Church, Børsen and many museums, restaurants and nightclubs are significant tourist attractions.
Copenhagen is home to the University of Copenhagen, the Technical University of Denmark, Copenhagen Business School, and the IT University of Copenhagen. The University of Copenhagen, founded in 1479, is the oldest university in Denmark. Copenhagen is home to the football clubs F.C. Copenhagen and Brøndby IF. The annual Copenhagen Marathon was established in 1980. Copenhagen is one of the most bicycle-friendly cities in the world.
Movia is the public mass transit company serving all of eastern Denmark, except Bornholm. The Copenhagen Metro, launched in 2002, serves central Copenhagen. Additionally, the Copenhagen S-train, the Lokaltog (private railway), and the Coast Line network serve and connect central Copenhagen to outlying boroughs. Serving roughly 2.5 million passengers a month, Copenhagen Airport, Kastrup, is the busiest airport in the Nordic countries.

Other reason are those steps at the bottom there do you see them yeah what are those steps perfect for drinking drinking yeah you’ve been inmar how long one day you’ve been in Denmark one day and you already get the point by the way everywhere in Denmark is perfect for drinking okay but one
Summer day I was having a beer in the sun right there enjoying the sun one of those two summer days that you have every year and as I was sitting there two ladies joined me two friends of mine two Argentinian ladies they’re in Denmark because they parent work for that in ch
An embassy and when they got there they opened a bag of five different kinds of hases and rot a paper and started rolling joints in the middle of a Public Square now that’s not legal in Denmark and I told them that you know what they said they said no problem diplomatic
Immunity so because the parent Works an embassy that had diplomatic immunity I was so jealous I said how does that work exactly and they told me they have a phone number for a police officer and if they ever get in any trouble with the law that police officer they can call
That number and that police officer would have to get them out of that trouble can you my first question was can I have that number please let’s go let’s go around the corner check out the old uh uh Church cool very cool ladies in the back

Welcome all of you what a lovely mix with people do you remember my name Martin is the right answer if you can’t remember my name I’m just a tall Ginger who took you on a walking tour a little bit different in Winter because you can’t see my hair but everybody just
Knows me as a ginger tour guide if you go online you’ll see a lot of people writing about the ginger guy and they Rite all kinds of that is your chance to get payback for the I just cracked on you um somebody the other day wrote it felt like following a
Tall carrot around town somebody said pretty good tour for a guy without a soul somebody somebody the other day just just down in 1795 and after they rebuilt it they made it the fireman watch hour to the fires started in cagen all the time and because Coben did have
A lot of fires prob be the most on the planet since then has not been used as a church it’s been used for other purposes today it’s used as a contemporary arud don’t go there it’s [Applause] terrible it’s beautifully situated on a hill with a view of the water and Sweden
On the other side just focus on the water you’re going to be fine um we seeum his name Louisiana because the guy who donated the building to become a museum he was married three times in his life his first wife was named Louisa his second wife was named Louisa and his
Third wife was named L Louis Susanna that’s a good answer Louisa loua is the right answer so and you’re probably thinking why the would anyone have three wives with the same name I thought about it too but you know what I figured it out whole by myself probably had a
Tattoo his wife he needed a wife to fit the tattoo and he scarred the country looking for people that thought that you a um Louisa is a 45 minute train ride north of Copenhagen and it’s absolutely beautiful those tat no there’s a children’s playground over [Laughter] here they would never put a children
Pround just outside the Catholic Church they put it inside let’s go check out the big Square Foreign speee I need my voice to last for a very long time the other day I had a voice coach on the tour who told me to get people Clos otherwise she said I’m not going to have a voice in 30 or 40 years I said
You got no clue how old I am I’m not going to have anything in 30 or 40 years yes um welcome to King new Square it’s a terrible name for a square that’s almost 400 years old is anyone behind you there you just switch places um it’s a terrible name for a
Square that’s almost 400 years old he was L out in the 1640s by the Psychopaths up there on the horse behind me his name was Christen i f one of our many Psychopathic lazy crazy alcoholic Kings over the years um he was he would kill anyone over at diu including his
Own citizens and just to give you an image of his own self-perception he put himself up there in that pestal there you see him up there he made a statue of himself and underneath him he put those other people do you see those other people yeah he puts himself above those
Other people to show you that he was better than them and those other people are losers like Sanson and Hercules he he liked French architecture so he invited a bunch of French Architects to come to Denmark and lay out this Square that’s why some of the buildings have French name Mar and hotel
Dang we got a French speaker right here uh square and those two squares are connected by that pedestrian street over there so that creates sort of an exess downtown Copenhagen you you can always use to find your way um that pedestrian street is the most boring place on the
Planet stay the hell away from it um but it has a funny name uh and I’m going to spell that name for you and you’re going to try and pronounce it is that a deal all right so pay attention s g r o g e g strug it that’s very wrong say after
Me S t r o g e t say after me St yeah so you don’t have to put your tongue up when you say it but it’s definitely more entertaining for me if you do so um yeah we we it’s a very typical Danish word in the way that’s got silent
Letters in that the G and the T you can’t hear them right we do that a lot especially G’s and D’s we love G’s and D’s we put them everywhere we just never pronounce them um I usually say there are three reasons why it’s hard to learn
Danish it’s D and D and the fact that everybody bloody speaks English to you anyway um Hotel dang there in spite of all the ugly ass Christmas decorations is actually the most fancy hotel in town um and you can have a suite there for €3,000 T night I do it all the time
Um that was funny um so that’s also C there inmark recently we had Obama and metallic has staying there at the same time we don’t know if they were jamming in the lobby also also a little while ago I walked past outside and I heard um
And I thought oh no not another fire but it proved it wasn’t another fire just because Justin Bieber was in town now I was hoping for another fire where where are the Canadians there you are so what did we ever do to you you sent just me our way
Have you ever offended you have you ever done anything to offend you the least you can do is keep him at home and take responsibility and if you want to send him somewhere else in the world send him to bloody Russia they to serve him let’s
Go check out the colorful houses on the other side you didn’t look like you really took Ch all right my manager told me to take a nice Christmas pict from up here come to New Harbor New Harbor is a canal and it’s attached to the sea in the other end and it ends right here on one side of the canal you have the beautiful famous colorful
Houses on the other side of the canal you have nothing um the canal used to be the main Harbor of Copenhagen all the big ships would come here but eventually the chips grew bigger and bigger they couldn’t fit into the canal anymore and that’s um when we had to build another H
North of Copenhagen and that’s still where we have the main haror nowadays the canal was original duck in the 1600s and in the 1600s if you wanted to dig a canal like that all you had were hand shovels and wheelbarrows can you imagine all that hard work who do you think
Wanted to do all that hard work Swedish prisoners of War that’s true they graciously volunteered to make a canal for the Danish people and if that have been after the Geneva Convention there would have been no canals in Copenhagen that’s for damn sure uh what does sor want to do when
They come in at night they want to drink and the ladies they want to have intelligent conversation right so this used to be the red light district of Copenhagen and that was perfectly normal actually all the big cities had a har but there was also the red light
District lots of happy Sailors and a happy atmosphere and people from all over the world but after the ship stopped coming here there were no more happy Sailors only dodgy people and it became the most dodgy place in Copenhagen and people hated that so they tried for many years to change a place
Around and to change the atmosphere of the place around and one of the things they tried was when they painted the house in different colors Under The Motto prostitutes are afraid of colors well prostitutes proved not to be afraid of color since instead of having just a
Dody place we now had a very colorful Dody place and not much really succeeded until 1969 when we tried moving what is known as the wooden ship Museum to here all the beautiful uh Wooden Ships down there on the side of the canal um and
That was a huge success all of a sudden the tourists were pouring in and instead of having the most place in Copenhagen we at the most jistic place in Copenhagen and on a hot summer day you can have 50,000 people going through over here those two hot summer days every
Year and now ironically Swedish people can enjoy the work of their forefathers and they have beers and the sidewalk restaurants and Swedish people are the only people who have those beers because Swedish people are the only people on the planet who thinks that 100 cron is a
Nice price for a beer uh Danish people they enjoy new harb the way it’s supposed to be enjoyed they go down around the corner there’s a kiosk they buy a six-pack of not car they sit down on the side of the canal with your feet dangling over the edge
And they get pissed in the sun like you’re supposed to you are in Denmark after all we started drinking beer in Denmark 5,000 years ago we figured Why Stop Now uh we used to do that when we were students actually I have some of my happiest student memories from new
Harbor five six guys on a Saturday afternoon in the sun um getting drunk and as we got drunk usually a little pool of money would form for the first one jumps in the water and as we got more drunk uh the pool will go up and eventually somebody would take that
Money and jump and that’s somebody was almost always Jacob a the old friend Jacob I still see him once in a while he would he would take that money and jump every Saturday Jacob was the only guy in that group of friends who didn’t have a
Job next to studying he just made his money from jumping in the harbor on Saturday afternoons um we’re going to walk long Brother Foree four summer houses luckily this happened in the coldest winter ever nobody yeah I think one rep what happened on my ship you expect your ship nothing there’s nothing to report so what they do is sometimes they try to each other little jok St let’s see if doer than this get Bab good
He Val you beat I think M all right guys come inside 18 19 years old they got through a very hard training program and in returned for that hard work they get to stand here for 8 hours every day doing absolutely nothing and every 15 minutes they can
Walk to the corner and look for Swedish terrorists um they don’t do 8 hours straight they do at four 2our shifts and then they do uh four uh times 4 hours in the back so there’s three times as many soldiers as you see in the Square um the
Queen is not at home the Crown Prince is not at home and the rest of the family is not at home and that’s why there are so few soldiers now if the Crown Prince would have been at home he would have been in this building there would have
Been two soldiers there and one there if the queen would have been a home she would have in that building there would have been three soldiers there as well but now there’s only one soldier in each place because there are no there’s no one there to protect um is it mainly
Woman or M is it mainly wom or M so I think it’s 7% women um they only uh included women in the Royal lifeguard in 2017 um and they want women there so what they do basically the soldiers are handpicked amongst the best soldiers in the country so they take the normal
Soldiers normal Soldier age noral conscription age and then they pick the best ones from there but they pick the ladies first and they pick the ones with different cultural backgrounds and then they fill up the rest with Caucasian white men um because they want diversity right but it’s hard to get because
There’s not enough women who wants to go um yeah every 15 minutes like I said they can go and check for Swedish terrorists um most people they want to take a picture next to them but they have a to the parameters you have to be a little bit careful they can be quite
Aggressive if you get too close to them so ask permission they’ll probably ignore you if they don’t ignore you they’ll probably say no but once they in Blue Moon they will say yes and then you can stand next to them and take a picture I’ve seen that happen and what
Happened afterwards was that 40 people line up to take a picture and they don’t have time for that remember they have to stand there for 8 hours doing absolutely nothing um but if you want to take a picture with them I have a little tip for you you’re not allowed to touch the
Buildings if you go lean against the building they’ll have to yell at you if you don’t react to that they’ll have to come closer and if you’re still not reacting they’ll have to f remove you from the building and that’s when you have a friend ready with a
Camera it’s going to be your most prized possession your most prized possession from a trip to Denmark a picture of you being dragged away in handcuffed by the Royal life um so uh but let me tell you about the palace and the royal family in more General this whole area was originally
Laid out in the 1700s by the gentleman up then the horse’s name was Frederick the fth and not to be mistaken for the psychopath we heard about earlier on Christen the 5 it was a relative of his um he out this area to house all his rich and snoody friends and that’s why
The houses a bigger resolution for a little while after that little while they lik it so much here they decided to stay and on that occasion those two families who can’t be asked to move out to make room for the royal family and ever since then this has been the
Official Royal Palace of Denmark not the only Royal Palace we have but the one we commonly refer to as the Royal Palace the queen is usually here in Winter she’s away for the Christmas day but you’ll be back soon H so this is basically the Queen’s winter resident
She has other Customs as well that she spends her Summers ring and and uh and fall in and all those things um and uh yeah she just recently moved back now like 2 weeks ago so that to this place H she’s here she’s using that building
Over there and you can tell because that is the one with the five chimneys the queen famously smokes 20 unfiltered cigarettes a day and she needs an extra chimney to get rid of all the cigarette smoke that she produces all the time she used to smoke 20 unfiltered cigarettes
Today but she stepped down to Quinny and we all proud of her for her willpower with those smoking habits though it’s it’s a big mystery to all of us how she grew to be 83 years old um the Crown Prince lives in that building where is
Yi there you are yeah that’s where Crown Princess Mary lives with with her Crown Prince and um I’m going to yeah and I’m going to get back to that in that that house is a a home of the rest of the royal family the younger brother of the
Crown Prince and the younger sisters of the queen way over there in town that’s where they stay nobody is at home there now either and then the last building over there that is a guest house of royalties and presidents when they visit somebody um but the queen basically
Looked at this much younger man and said it’s my house my Rules be to Do Do Like comment sh
