I bought a Specialized Rockhopper during COVID. I already had a road bike and wanted to get into mountain biking. Wasn’t really into it, turns out.
Two years later I decided to make use of this otherwise great bike by making it my commuter. I keep the front suspension locked. I switched the knobby wide tires for Continental Ride Tour 35mm and splurged on the Specialized/Fjallraven handlebar bag and rack for storage (which so far is about all I need plus my backpack). I may add a rear Topeak rack to use a Topeak basket I already have.
Just love this setup, though. So, so comfortable. The Mtb gearset topping out isn’t as annoying with the new, thinner tires, which just make for a very pleasant, much swifter ride overall. Don’t see myself changing them back anytime soon.
