An exhausting yet exhilarating drive through the Jakupica mountain range. Starting from Skopje, the final destination was ‘Karadzica’ mountain lodge (situated on Mumdzica Mountain) where we had a nice break with good food, rakija, and cold beer.

It took almost 3 hours to get to the destination driving on terrain that’s not that demanding but requires maximum focus. There are rocks, sand, dirt, rivers so it’s very vivid scenery. The mountain lodge is located at 1450 meters altitude and was opened back in 1954. They offer residence in one of their rooms and meals in their restaurant with a breath-taking view.

‘Karadzica’ is a good starting point to Solunska Glava Peak – 2540 meters altitude (5 hours in one direction). This is the highest peak in Central Macedonia and the name derives from the legend that it’s possible to see Solun (Thessaloniki) from it when the weather allows it.
