I have a Brodie Mega Tour, it is a very long frame. It has 700C wheels. This is more or less what it looks like boxed for air travel [https://imgur.com/a/pJzOa89](https://imgur.com/a/pJzOa89)

Most bike boxes are around 1.3 or 1.4 meters long. The one in the images is rare at 1.5M. For the return trip from europe I cut down and re-fashioned an ebike monster box. So I would like to develop a method to pack into a box that size. It would require removing the rear wheel (& fender & probably rack).

Does anyone habitually do this?

I have seen a bike bag approach for train travel in france that tapes both wheels on the outside of the rear triangle – but that is basically for “carrying it onto the train” not throwing it on a belt into the hold of a plane.

I can get a 1.3M box and try it , but there is really very little space to put the rear wheel on the outside of the rear triangle – but maybe? Just looking for tips if anyone has a better way.

A few other things…

I remove the derailleur from the hanger and zip tie it to the chainstay. Is it better to unscrew and remove the whole hanger? Then you dont have to rotate it past the b-screw etc. which can be a pain in a sleep deprived state.

Taking the rotor(s) off/on is time-consuming but presumably necessary? (no lock ring here).

Any hacks/pro tips are welcome…
